COMING TOGETHER FOR RURAL MENTAL HEALTH IRD Duhallow Hosts Landmark Rural Mental Health Conference
The inaugural Rural Mental Health Conference, hosted by IRD Duhallow in Newmarket on July 17th, proved to be a resounding success, bringing together community members, health professionals, policymakers and mental health advocates from across Ireland for a day of learning, discussion and inspiration. Held under bright blue skies and warm summer sunshine, the conference created a positive and welcoming atmosphere from the outset. The event highlighted both the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities and demonstrated the vital role that innovation, collaboration and local action can play in supporting mental health and wellbeing. The conference theme, “Innovations in Mental Health,” was reflected throughout the day as
speakers shared fresh perspectives, evidencebased approaches and practical examples of how communities can respond to growing mental health needs. The programme combined national expertise with local experience, ensuring that discussions remained grounded in the realities of rural Ireland.
