Diaphysis: Long bone shaft
Epiphyses: Ends of long bone
Epiphyseal Line: Plate/cartilage: separated ends of long bones from growing cartilage.
Periosteum: Vessel rich bone producing membrane covering bone except cartilaginous ends.
Metaphysis: Growing flared end of bone between shaft and epiphysis.
Articular cartilage: Cushioning cartilage at bone ends where other bones meet.
Cancellous: Red bone marrow production. Spongy trabeculae give bone support to stress.
Compact Bone: Densely packed osteons of cells and bone matrix for blood vessel channels.
Marrow Cavity: Fatty yellow bone marrow replacing red bone marrow in marrow cavity.
Endostium: Bone lining the membrane cavity.
Nutrient Artery: Blood for bone supplied by vessels in periosteum and nutrient artery feeding to the Endostium.
A Bone
There are many small bones that make up the skull. Gentle FS to the head is relaxing. This touch will take the place of old fashioned petting.
FS IPTouch to the extremities will reduce injury concerns as well as PNS an animal’s entire body. Never do deep work on the legs because the bones are so close to the surface.
Gentle PE to wrist and ankles along with WH (paw) pulsing can relieve walking discomfort and may release acupressure points. Be gentle, as some animal toes have hair (touch receptors) that can make this area sensitive.

Bones protect organs, act as levers for muscle movement and attachments, and house bone marrow needed for blood-cell formation.
With decreased activity, bones actually become weaker and thinner. Bones ARE tissue.

Wolf's Law: Bone will become healthier by adjusting to stress placed on it. The blood supply and collagen will become thicker, creating thicker bone mass. With added stress, take precautions with the area’s joint stability and inflammatory process.
Bone is covered with periosteum, a tissue infused with nerves. This is one of the reasons injuries or hard pressure to bone causes great discomfort. Never do hard IPTouch to bony areas.
Some tails are made up of small bones. Gentle passive IPT to the tail (you move it without the animal’s help) can be very relaxing to the hind end and low back.
