Please read this information carefully before signing up to any clubs as your child may need equipment in order to take part in the club. For all clubs, children can bring a nut free snack to eat before they go to their club if you wish.
WHEN WILL THE CLUBS RUN?
Some clubs only run for half a term. These are marked with * for the first half of the Lent Term and ** for the second half of the Lent Term. All dates that the clubs will run are listed on your clubs calendar via the clubs tab on myipswich.school.
There will be no clubs running on the following dates:

Unless a club is marked as (£) they are free of charge. Where a club has (£) identified, the cost listed on the following clubs information page is per term. Differences between any club costs will be dependent on the nature of the club and the number of sessions included.

WHEN CAN I SIGN UP FOR CLUBS?
The clubs sign up will open on Monday 4 December and closes at midnight on Sunday 10 December.
Please check your clubs calendar via the clubs tab on my.ipswich.school after Wednesday 13 December to double check your child’s allocation of clubs.
PUPIL NUMBERS IN A CLUB
We strive to provide opportunities for all pupils to sign up to clubs that interest them and develop their skills and interests. This can mean that there are occasions when club numbers become too high and we need to ‘split’ a club into smaller groups.
This can be for staff/pupil ratio, resources or safety reasons. To mitigate the need to ‘split’ a club, additional sessions have been created for popular clubs, and some clubs are already pre-split (one year group is before half term and another is after half term).
CLUB SPLITS
If you have signed your child up to a club that has had to be ‘split’, date changes will appear on your clubs calendar.
If your child has only been allocated half a term of a club, please do consider making a Late Stay booking if you require childcare for the alternate half term.
MAXIMUM CLUB CHOICES FOR LOWER PREP CHILDREN
It is important for wellbeing and mental health that young children do not overload their daily schedule. Having relaxation time, or quiet time, after a busy school day is beneficial for many children.
It is also important that children only take part in activities that they are truly interested in doing. Please support your child by discussing their club options with them before signing them up.
We do not limit the number of clubs that children can sign up for. However, it is advisable that children in Lower Prep subscribe to a maximum of three after school clubs each term.
Please consider making a Late Stay booking if you require additional childcare after school. In Late Stay, children benefit from a range of games, activities and quiet time, as well as dedicated homework and reading time.

Do you love being creative and have a passion for Art? Do you enjoy making art and crafts? Do you want some time in your week to make your own artwork?
The Upper Prep Art Room will be open every Friday lunchtime for any Year 5 and 6 children who would like to come up and make artwork and develop their skills.
Bring a little project to work on or Miss Banham can help you come up with ideas for your own artwork.

Ballet
Following the Cecchetti ballet method, these classes are suitable for both boys and girls. Miss Emily teaches a combination of syllabus and imaginative free ballet, instilling a love of dance, and an understanding of the core discipline and control which ballet requires. These classes provide an opportunity for progression and achievement for all children. No experience needed

Beginners’ Sign Language
Do you want to learn a new skill that will help you communicate with others? Learning sign language is a brilliant life skill that is also lots of fun.
Learning Sign Language, especially at an early age, has been proven to have numerous benefits:
It can help with communication and social skills and helps to improve confidence.
It encourages children to adopt inclusive attitudes.
Learning Sign Language may open more opportunities in the future, from making new friends to potential careers.
You will learn a range of basic signs including greetings, talking about your family, the weather and animals as well as lots of other topics!

Brass Ensemble
The Prep Brass Group is open to any pupils who play brass instruments in the Prep School. They perform regularly in school concerts and assemblies.
Every year the Prep Brass Group joins together with all the brass players in the senior school to take part in a whole school fanfare at Snape Maltings Concert Hall.

Breakfast Reading Cafe
Do you fancy a relaxed morning in which you can read and share your favourite books? Come along to our reading cafe and have breakfast while relaxing with a book. Open to parents as well as children.
We will be reading both independently, to each other, to our families and sharing/ recommending books to one another. All genres of text will be provided, but you can also bring your own. From comics and newspapers, to joke books and non-fiction texts… anything goes. Breakfast is optional.

Chess Club
Come and learn how to beat your opponent in chess.

J-Sax
The J-Sax group is a great opportunity to discover the saxophone.
The J-Sax is a small, lightweight saxophone that has been designed to be easy to play for small hands.
As well as developing your music reading skills, everything you learn on the J-Sax is transferable to the full sized saxophone. Many of the saxophonists in school started on a J-Sax.

Large Apparatus and Yoga
Do you like climbing, swinging, jumping and taking safe risks? Well, if you do, Large Apparatus is for you!
This gives you the chance to try out a range of large apparatus circuits and really practise key skills such as balance, spatial awareness and coordination in a fun way. We will complete the session with a calm yoga cool down to wind down at the end of a busy week.

Musical Theatre Club

pBone Club
A pBone is a plastic version of a brass trombone. It works and plays in the same way as a trombone but is much lighter and easier to hold for younger children. It also looks exciting in different bright colours.
Over the course of a term we aim to play a few simple tunes using 5 notes before trying out a Brass Trombone nearer the end of term. At the end of the term there will be various options to carry on playing the trombone or simply hand back the pBone.

Do you love playing board games? Are you keen on solving puzzles? Then come along and have some fun on a Thursday afternoon with Mrs Jackson. Mathematical games such as the Tower of Hanoi and tangrams will challenge your lateral thinking, visual perception skills and spatial awareness. Whereas for ‘Perilous Penguins’ you will have fun as a team, but go slowly and carefully, come up with an effective strategy and you’ll succeed! You’ll need a steady hand to make sure the penguins balance on the iceberg though!
