Leadership Thrives in Middlesex County New Brunswick, NJ – Our Justice for Women Coordinator, Giselle Cárcamo, accepted an invitation from Monsignor Joseph Kerrigan to conduct a leadership training at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish in the Diocese of Metuchen in New Brunswick, NJ. Her visit started with participation in the 17th Annual March & Rally against Domestic Violence: Break the Silence, Stop the Violence! It was organized by the New Brunswick Domestic Violence Awareness Coalition in partnership with several local organizations, including the Domestic Violence Committee formed by past Justice Circle participants from Sacred Heart. In the following days, several listening sessions were held to hear from former Circle partic-
ipants, celebrate their accomplishments through the years and get feedback regarding ways to continue to strengthen women’s leadership. They didn’t hesitate to share their learnings. One of the participants stated, “For me the Circle has been very important. It has helped me to grow and to realize that I am not the only one going through difficult situations. Together we can continue working for our community. I ask God to give us strength and wisdom.” Another said effusively, “I have learned that women can assert their voices and that together we are unstoppable, we can face any obstacle!” During the last day, Giselle conducted a leadership development training that responded to the needs raised in each of the

Liderazgo continúa floresciendo en el condado Middlesex New Brunswick, NJ – Nuestra coordinadora de Justicia para la Mujer, Giselle Cácamo, aceptó una invitación de Monseñor Joseph Kerrigan para visitar y dirigir un entrenamiento de liderazgo en la Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia en la Diócesis de Metuchen en New Brunswick, NJ. Su visita empezó con la participación en la 17ma Marcha Anual y Acción contra la Violencia Doméstica: ¡Rompan el Silencio, Detengan la Violencia! La marcha fue organizada por la Coalición de Conciencia de la Violencia Doméstica de New Brunswick en colaboración con varias
organizaciones locales incluyendo el Comité de Violencia Doméstica formado por ex participantes de Círculos del Sagrado Corazón. En los siguientes días, hubo varias sesiones de testimonios para escuchar a las ex participantes de los Círculos, celebrar sus éxitos de varios años y buscar maneras de seguir fortaleciendo su liderazgo. Una de las participantes dijo: “Para mí, el Círculo fue muy importante. Me ayudó a crecer y darme cuenta de que no soy la única que está pasando por momentos difíciles. Juntas podemos seguir trabajando por nuestra comunidad. Le pido
a Dios que nos dé fortaleza y sabiduría”. Otra dijo efusivamente: “He aprendido que las mujeres podemos hacer oír nuestra voz con firmeza y que juntas somos invencibles, podemos vencer todos los obstáculos”. Durante el último día, Giselle condujo un entrenamiento de desarrollo de liderazgo que respondió a las necesidades que se suscitaron en las sesiones de testimonios, celebró los seis años de continua organización y dio un espacio para reflexionar sobre las maneras en que los Círculos les han dado a las mujeres la capacidad de
hablar con la verdad ante el poder, aprender a manejar los sistemas en su vida y participar cívicamente de una manera más significativa. El grupo llegó a un acuerdo sobre varias acciones, entre ellas, el compromiso de varias ex participantes de convertirse en facilitadoras de Círculos y empezar nuevos procesos de organización; y la decisión de seguir promoviendo el trabajo de comités para hablar de asuntos clave sin necesidad de depender de la disponibilidad de personal de la parroquia. ¡Un nuevo Círculo dirigido por dos ex participantes empezará este invierno!
