n the last few years, we have witnessed a proliferation of the so-called “smart” paints and coatings, able to lend to an object functional characteristics directly related to its intended use. Sometimes these coatings, because of the unique properties that they claim to lend to the objects covered with them, arouse the scepticism of specifiers and users about their actual effectiveness. The true “smartness” of these coatings can be therefore underestimated. This article reports the results of some exhaustive laboratory tests carried out by independent institutes on samples treated with two new “smart” powder coatings developed by Adapta Color and demonstrating their effectiveness.

egli ultimi anni abbiamo assistito al proliferare delle vernici e dei rivestimenti cosiddetti “intelligenti”, in grado di conferire a un manufatto caratteristiche funzionali direttamente correlate con la sua destinazione d’uso finale. Talvolta questi rivestimenti, a causa delle esclusive proprietà che affermano di attribuire ai manufatti rivestiti con esse, incontrano lo scetticismo di prescrittori e utilizzatori in merito alla loro effettiva efficacia. Accade quindi che la reale “intelligenza” di questi rivestimenti venga sottovalutata. Il presente articolo riporta in maniera esaustiva risultati di test di laboratorio effettuati da istituti indipendenti su provini trattati con due nuove vernici in polvere “intelligenti” sviluppate da Adapta Color, che ne dimostrano l’efficacia.
