Genoa, Italy (1996) playing recital on Paganini's famous Guameri del Cesu "il Cannone" violin, bequeathed by Paganini to the city of Genoa for performances by exceptional virtuoso ciolinists only. “Eduard Schmieder is one of the outstanding teachers of the violin today.

FROM GREAT MUSICIANS:

“His musicianship and knowledge of music are outstanding…” - Ida Haendel, CBE Grand Dame of the Violin

Festival’s Pulse of Music Beats Strong in its 22nd season:

• 26 artists from 19 countries • Festival’s ensemble-in-residence: French Trio Zadig • Festival’s composer-in-residence: Azerbaijani Franghiz Ali-Zadeh • Two world premieres: commissions of “Harmony” by Franghiz Ali-Zadeh and

“Fantasia Hungariana” by Sergei Dreznin

• U.S. premiere: Beethoven’s String Symphony after Kreutzer Sonata.

“…The Festival of International Laureates rolled around to its annual grand finale July 20 in Walt Disney Concert Hall. As always, the concert was staffed by iPalpiti — the festival’s flagship ensemble of 26 expert young string players from around the globe — and led by the group’s perennial maestro and co-founder, Eduard Schmieder. One thing that hasn’t changed in

the 22 seasons of this festival’s existence is Schmieder's willingness to ignore fashion and so called authenticity by programming outof-the-way, audience friendly repertoire and transcriptions of chamber pieces….”

- iPalpiti soloists performed Rimsky-Korsakov string

sextet, first time to be heard in LA:

“… at noontime concert at UCLA on July 16 in historic Rotunda across Royce Hall, a group of expert iPalpiti string players carried out one

the organization’s most admirable missions – resurrecting little-known, audience-friendly music

that other groups don’t bother looking for…the piece is a gem…a polyglot sextet….seemed to relish every bar, revving up the scherzos with rumbling energy abd abandon, digging deeply into the Slavic Romantic soul in the lone slow movement..” –Richard Ginell, SFCV

SEXTET L-R: Semyon Promoe/Russia, Samuel Nebyu/Hungary, Midori Maruyama/Japan, Agnieszka Podlucka/Poland, Sevak Avanesyan/ArmeniaBelgium, Egor Antonenko/Ukraine.

"iPalpiti Returns to Live Performances in a Heartbeat"

a title of the SFCV feature article by Tom Jacobs July 2021

…By returning to live performances ahead of many other music organizations, iPalpiti is “pioneering what we have preached from our founding in 1998,” said Festival Director Laura Schmieder. Its mission, she said, is to “preserve traditions of great classical music, support exceptional talents,” encourage “unity and hope,” and promote the idea that “music is the spiritual factor which brings people together and unites them irrespective of religion and culture.”

At Conrad Prebys Performance Arts Center | Baker-Baum Concert Hall La Jolla.
