Future Leaders

Celebrating Shropshire

Monday 10th June 2024

Event Organisers

In a world of AI we are delighted to be working in partnership with Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and Shrewsbury School to host a futures event with a range of diverse workshop where business ambassadors from Shropshire will share what they do on a day to day basis, what they enjoy about their work and the opportunities available in the region for young emerging talent.

The students will have the opportunity to ask questions of the business ambassadors and we look forward to hearing their many enquiring questions.

We hope that the afternoon of authentic interactions will inspire the students to think about their futures, imagine what they could achieve, explore making those careers happen and see what purpose and enjoyment from those careers they could achieve.

Making best use of emerging AI technologies students will also have the opportunity to carry out an AI video interview post event which will add further to their careers advice support.

Thank you to the businesses and their ambassadors for their support.

Andrew Goff, Director, Interactive Opportunities Ltd

It has been tremendously exciting to work with Andrew Goff and the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce on this Fourth Form event. Having lived and worked in Shropshire for over a decade, I am very aware of its’ significant industrial history and current employment opportunities, with this activity offering Shrewsbury School pupils a glimpse into the rich heritage and innovation this beautiful county offers. With the impact on AI dominating headlines associated with the ‘Future of Work’ this is a brilliant way for our pupils to understand how local businesses (many with a global presence) are adapting to the potential and challenges that this technology presents.

I am incredibly grateful to all our visiting business ambassadors, who have helped make this event possible and look forward to welcoming them into Shrewsbury School. I am confident that this will become an annual fixture in our Futures calendar, which can be further extended to partner schools in the locality.

I hope everyone has a brilliant and inspiring afternoon!

Chris Wain, Head of Futures at Shrewsbury School

As CEO of the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce we are thrilled to collaborate with Interactive Opportunities Ltd and Shrewsbury School on this Future Leaders event. Shropshire is not just a place of stunning natural beauty but also a hub of innovation and enterprise. This event highlights our commitment to fostering a community where seasoned professionals and emerging talent shape the future together.

This event offers students a unique opportunity to gain insights into diverse career paths, understand emerging technologies like AI, and explore opportunities in Shropshire. By providing a platform for these exchanges, we are investing in future leaders who will drive our community towards greater innovation and success.

Thank you to all the business ambassadors and participants for making this event a cornerstone for future career inspiration. Your participation is invaluable, and together, we can ignite a passion for lifelong learning and achievement in our young attendees.
