I live in Bali but in 2024 I plan on travelling most of the time. My goal is to meet every ION photographer in person. Setting up collaborations online is great but getting together with likeminded photographers is where the magic happens.

1. Transparency 1.1 Printing set-up ION The Gallery uses a printing on demand set-up. This means that we don’t keep any inventory. An artwork gets printed after a customer orders it. The advantage is that there are no huge start-up costs or potential losses when items don’t sell. We work together with three printing companies so far. We’re open to adding more printing companies if there is demand for new locations. Right now we work together with; JONDO Printing in Spain, UK, USA, Canada, Australia GELATO Printing in Singapore TINTA BALI Printing in Bali (for our test prints)
1.2 Points of sale We sell all our photography on our website and directly through our social media. For you as an affiliate it’s profitable to sell to your own audience with your personal link. You can embed your photography listings on your own website (optional) You can share your link directly on all social media platforms and through email marketing If you use other sales channels you can embed your personal link there as well
1.3 Can I sell my prints on my own website? Yes you can. We can help you to set-up the embed on your website.
1.4 Affiliate Set-up When you become an ION photographer you become our affiliate partner. This means you earn commissions on every sale of your work. To ensure everything gets tracked and you get paid for every sale we work with Trackdesk. This is an affiliate software that’s secure and, easy to set-up and use.
1.5 Commissions There are three tiers of commissions. 1) Your photography sold by you (through your personal link) 50% commission on total price (this is up to 80% of the profit depending on the printing location and size) 2) Your photography sold on our website/social media to customers outside your audience (not through your link) Up to 30% commission on total price 3) Photography by other photographers sold to your audience by you (with your personal link). Optional, no need for you to promote other photographers, but if you do you get 20%. 20% on total price

** You earn more on the larger prints because the shipping cost stays the same + the costs of printing larger are lower than our increase in price.
1.7 Start-up Costs You don’t have to pay us anything upfront. We want you as an ION photographer, because we believe in your talent and we love your work. That’s why we cover the start-up costs. We will recover the start-up costs from your first sales. If you don’t make any sales you don’t have to pay us anything. The costs are on the house, so no risk for you. This is a hypothetical scenario because there is no reason you’re not going to sell anything.^^ The start-up cost per photo is 60 euros. This is the equivalent of 1 or 2 print sales, depending on the size. What is included in the start-up cost? Editing + preparing photo for print Producing test print(s) Creating wall art product photos for the listing/social media Creating e-commerce listing for website Creating Instagram product listing Creating embed listing for your own website Creating launch video (more info below)
1.8 Future selling opportunities Right now we sell all our prints online and through printing on demand. Our vision for the future is to add in person events. During these events we’ll sell limited editions, signed and framed photography prints. More info about this later.
1.9 I want to charge more/less for my prints Yes, you can charge more for your prints. You know you’re audience best. If you feel that your target customers want to pay more for your photography you can increase the prices of your single listings. The same commission rate (50%) applies. If you want to charge more for the gallery walls you can when you reach a consensus with the two other photographers. Charging less is something we need to calculate to make sure we don’t run into a loss. But we’re open to discuss everything and see what’s possible.
1.10 I have a good idea or possible improvement ION is a place of collaboration and teamwork. These are not just fluffy words, it’s our foundation. ION The Gallery is a new initiative, this means we’re in the learning phase. Like the saying goes, the day you stop learning is the day you stop growing. I’m very transparent about being in the learning phase. The disadvantage for you is that we’re not experts yet when it comes to running a gallery. We’re learning new things every day. The advantage for you is that we’re very flexible and open to new ideas, improvements and initiatives. So if you have an idea, remark or complaint. Please let us know.
2.Efficiency 2.1 What’s the procedure? 1. You decide to sell your work in ION The Gallery. Welcome! 2. We set-up a zoom or WA call 3. We get to know each other and during the call you share the work you’d like to sell 4. We decide on the work and the story 5. We make test prints in Bali 6. We make a launch video (more info below) 7. We create your listing on ION The Gallery 8. We set-up your account on Trackdesk 9. We set-up your payment system 10. You get your affiliate links 11. We embed the listing on your personal website (optional) 12. We launch your art prints on ION The Gallery 13. We share the launch video simultaneously on socials 14. You start sharing your link with your audience 15. You make money. Jeeej! 16. We pair you with two photographers with a similar style (optional) 17. We match calendars and set-up zoom meeting to get to know each other + each others work 18. The three of you come up with a visually cohesive photography wall (or you use the one we made as example) 19. Same process as single listing 20. We create a launch video with 3 of you 21. We launch and you start selling

2.3 Do I have to collaborate? No, you can also decide to only sell your photography individually. But collaborating will connect you with other talented photographers, broaden your audience and you can earn more money per sale. So only advantages and more fun.
2.4 What is a launch video? Why should customers hang your photography in their house? That’s the question we answer in the launch video. ION is a company that foregrounds female empowerment and collaboration. If your work focuses on these themes perfect. If it doesn’t, not a problem. Every photograph has an interesting or funny story that makes it into a piece of art from a unique photographer. We combine the story of the photograph with a short introduction of you as a photographer. This we overlay with video clips of the printing of your photograph (here in Bali) and your work displayed in a beautiful interior setting. We’re always open to new ideas or variations to this video concept. We can discuss the story for the photographs over a call. We can also meet irl and shoot the video together (more fun). Until 18 December I’m in Bali, after that I’ll be in Belgium and I’m open to travelling in Europe. So let me know where you are and we can see if we can meet.
3.Community 3.1 Community building now ION The Gallery is new. This means more exposure for you because we don’t have many photographers listed yet. This also means that our community at this point is small and intimate. My idea is to start a WA group or a discord channel. This way we can get to know each other in an informal way. As we grow we’ll transition to the online platform ION used in the past. This platform has a lot of features and possibilities but is not needed as long as our group is small.
3.2 Community building in the future In the future I want to organise “ION The Residency”. This is a residency that I’ll offer for free to ION Photographers or with minimal costs. During these residencies we’ll spend time in a beautiful, inspiring place and we create art together. We make new friends, learn from each other and afterwards we earn money with the photography we created. I’m also planning to organise in person events in different corners of the world to strengthen our community and sell (your) limited edition prints. More info about this later.
3.3 Why organise residencies for free? Why don’t you charge money and organise photography retreats instead? I have ambitious plans for ION and I think of my business as a pie. I can own 100% of this pie and grow it til this size.
I can also share this pie and create smart ways for all of us to make money. To create opportunities for others and to grow my business at the same time is what I’m after. I want to have a small part of a gigantic pie and I want to share it with you. Wanna join? ION Photographer 5
