Let’s Toast the Season! By Brian and Lindsey Shaughnessy

O’Shaughnessy Liquor

This season is our favorite time of year. For us, it’s a time to take stock of all the blessings in our lives and celebrate with friends and family. Here at O’Shaughnessy Liquor, we have something for every taste. There is a huge variety of seasonal beverages to choose from. Here are some of our customer favorites: One of our favorite holiday items is from St. James Winery in Missouri. St. James Cranberry wine is served at our Christmas dinner every year. It especially pairs well with turkey and is a great alternative to a traditional sweet red wine. Serve it as is or in a unique holiday punch.

Recipe:

Cranberry Apple Pie in a Glass

• 1 bottle St. James Cranberry Wine • 1/2-gallon apple cider • 1 bottle White Rum • 2 cups honey • 3-4 cinnamon sticks Combine all ingredients and warm in a crock-pot. Serve warm with a cinnamon stick. When the colder temps arrive so does our craving for apple cider and a good whiskey. Jack Daniels has combined both into one tasty treat! Jack Daniel's Winter Jack Tennessee Cider combines popular holiday spices, apple cider liqueur, and of course Jack Daniel's Old No. 7.

Recipe:

White Cider

• 2 ounces Jack Daniel's Winter Jack • 1 ounce Caramel Sauce • 4 ounces Half and Half Stir ingredients in microwave-safe glass. Heat until warm to touch. Crown Royal is another classic whiskey. In the recipe below, this Canadian whiskey is mixed with tart cranberry juice. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, and you can even add some peach schnapps to make it something special.

Recipe:

Crown Royal Flush

• 2 ounces Crown Royal whiskey • ½ ounce 100% unsweetened cranberry juice • Club soda, if desired • 1 ounce peach schnapps (optional) • Ice, for serving Fill a glass with ice. Add the Crown Royal, cranberry juice and peach schnapps if you’d like, and stir gently to combine. Add a splash of club soda if desired. One of the Christmas season's most popular flavors is gingerbread. Two great varieties are Captain Morgan Gingerbread and Granny's Gingerbread Cream. You can incorporate these into any traditional rum or cream recipes to give them a unique and tasty twist!
