This has fast become the hottest ticket around and together with our sauna and steam rooms, not to mention our 25m pool, your recovery needs are catered for in the best possible way.
We understand that recovery is a critical component of athletic performance, and we are pleased to offer our simple but effective recovery area, compromising our new Chill Tub, with water chilled to 5 degrees Celsius (current sea temp is averaging 7-8).
The location of our Chill Tub is only a few steps away from our Sauna and Steam Rooms, which further enhances the recovery process. The ideal is 1 min of cold with up to 3-5 min of heat. This process makes the body then act like a pump for blood
to circulate. The cold restricts the blood vessels and then the heat opens them up and blood flushes through to all parts of the body, thus assisting in easing soreness and stiffness and even reducing toxins. To complete the experience, relax in our pool before hitting the showers.
We believe this process to be the best way to deal with any soreness/stiffness of joints and muscles. It promotes good blood circulation which is key to assisting in the relief of any muscle issues, particu-
larly relating to exercise, pre and post. You don’t even have to be doing it for sporting reasons, as it promotes general health and wellbeing in everyone, both physical and mental.

Spray foam can be used in many different situations. Within the home it can be applied to roofs, attics, floors, with underfloor heating systems and interior and exterior walls. Spray foam insulation provides superior value in comparison to traditional insulating materials such as rock wool, fiberglass, cellulose and polystyrene boards.
It is quick and easy to apply and causes very little mess and disturbance of daily activity. A typical Irish house can usually be insulated within a day.
HOME HEATING HACKS:
Lower the temperature to 16ºC when you sleep — Not only will a cooler room lower your energy bills, but it will also help you to fall asleep faster by cooling your body and simulating the temperature during your sleep cycle.
Use blackout curtains — Having them closed at night reduce heat loss through your windows in winter. If you close them during the day, they can also keep your house from heating up too much during a rare hot spell.
Eliminate drafts in your home — Add draft excluders under doors and use insulating tape on other problem areas. You can buy a cheap roll at your local home improvement shop.
Glaze your windows — Double (and even triple) glazing will reduce condensation, heat loss and noise pollution. It will also increase your home’s security (by making the windows harder to break), as well as reduce interior fading.

The Devils Glen Walk
Located near Ashford and around 15km east of Glendalough, the Devil’s Glen has the feel of an enchanted forest and is set in a dramatic gorge with the famous waterfall as its highlight.
There are two Devil’s Glen walks to tackle, depending on what you want to see. The Seamus Heaney Walk is a 4km/2-hour walk while the Devil’s Glen Waterfall Walk is a 5km/2.5-hour ramble.
From the entrance to the Devil’s Glen forest drive in along the forest track to reach a car park after about 2km. There are 2 walks starting at the information board. From here the loop trails take you deep into this beautiful forest to finish back at the car park where you started. Along the routes you will find some unusual and interesting ‘Sculptures in Woodland’.
The Seamus Heaney Walk
The Seamus Heaney Walk is named in honour of the poet and Nobel Prize winner this is a lovely walk through the high forest.
The Waterfall Walk
The Devil’s Glen boasts a dramatic landscape that was fashioned at the end of the Ice Age when the melt waters of the ice sheet created the valley. The resultant gorge affords a swift decent for the Vartry River as it makes its way from the Vartry Reservoir to nearby Ashford village.
The site hosts a mixture of broad leaf and conifer forest with fine stands of beech, Spanish chestnut and ash. The steep rock face of the gorge has been colonised by various species of plant life: lichens, mosses and the polypody fern.
Significant Landmark - The Viewing Point
Continuing along the loop, you'll come across a viewing point that offers panoramic views of the glen and the surrounding countryside. This spot is about 3.5 km (2.2 miles) into the hike and requires a bit of a climb, contributing to the overall elevation gain. The effort is well worth it, as the views are breathtaking and provide a great photo opportunity.
Trail Conditions and Safety
The trail is generally well-maintained, but it can be muddy and slippery in places, especially after rain. Good hiking boots with strong grip are recommended. There are a few steep sections, particularly near the viewing point, so take your time and use trekking poles if needed. Always carry a map or use HiiKER for navigation, as mobile signal can be patchy in some areas.
Historical Significance
The area around Devils Glen has a rich history, with evidence of human activity dating back to ancient times. The glen itself was once part of the estate of the Earl of Meath, and remnants of old estate walls and structures can still be seen along the trail. The Vartry River, which flows through the glen, was historically significant for powering mills in the region.
