As I delved into another issue of International Property & Travel, it struck me how many amazing places there are around the globe to discover. James Diaper adds, “despite the area’s exclusive feel, property styles are varied and cater to a diverse market – from families and young couples, through to first time buyers or those looking to retire. Georgian and Victorian properties occupy a lot of Highgate, ranging from detached family homes or flats in period conversions. Due to the area’s history, there are fewer new builds and developments here, which adds to the charm of Highgate Village, which dates back to the 1350’s.”

In terms of a budget, Marc comments, “For a detached house in Sheldon Avenue or Stormont Road, your entry point is circa £4m. For one of the beautiful Georgian houses on the grove you will need north of £10m – they are the finest houses in Highgate and are generational homes.”

“The rental market in Highgate is incredibly strong,” says Robert Lerner of Savills Hampstead Lettings team. “With demand outweighing supply considerably. In such a fast-paced market, it’s not uncommon for a property to have a number of interested parties offering competitive prices, go above its guide price or be let before it hits the market.” Mike adds: “The rental market is strong due to its proximity to the centre of London. The most recent rental we successfully set up was on Courtney Avenue, a house on a gated private road which was let at £10,500 per week for three years.”

“Since the pandemic, the leisure facilities in Highgate and the surrounding areas have been a huge draw for buyers,” says James. “The Hampstead

Heath ponds bring in wild swimmers, while the Swains Lane and West Highgate Hill Road loop is a favourite among serious road racers.

The Parkland Walk is also popular among local residents at the weekend. During the summer months, concerts occupy the grounds of Kenwood House creating a wonderful atmosphere on a warm evening. Highgate also holds an annual fair at the beginning of June, showcasing local and independent businesses while bringing the community together.”

“Hampstead Heath, Highgate Woods and some of the best pubs in the UK are among some of the key attractions when considering the area,” comments Mike. “The high street is awash with great places to eat, whether it is a fantastic Sunday Roast at the Bull and Last or a BBQ over at The Flask for lunch in the summer; you would never be hungry in Highgate.”

Future prospects for such an outstanding area remain promising.

“Highgate is a very strong area to have a property as regards price stability and growth and I expect prices in Highgate to continue to rise,” says Sam. Lee adds, “Highgate will always be a special place. Its community feeling and happy residents are reluctant to see that change and so the local independent shops and amenities are really well supported and maintained. As central London becomes more built up and ever more expensive, those fortunate enough to have a healthy budget, will continue to look to head north to Highgate, even if it means renting and playing the waiting game until their next home becomes available.”

As urban Kuwait continues to develop and day-to-day real factors rapidly shift, individuals tend to head to new and ever-changing ways of keeping up with their prosperity. While the dynamic ways of life have been the focal point of planners and architects in order to help human solace and wellbeing, recent times have shown that these publicly coveted facilities might not always be accessible.

The design herein revolved around a side garden that rendered a u-shape plan in all of the floors. This very u-shape helped the garden play the role of the heart of the house, where light could penetrate at all times, view is maintained, and privacy in control. As the strenuous design process went through the outbreak of COVID-19, the design unfolded to include all kinds of activities, in case normal work life never resumed.

A variety of textures, trends, and colours were blended in order to achieve a balanced common ground where industrial meets contemporary. “Beneficiaries are individuals of any nationality who transfer their tax residency to Italy. They must not have been Italian residents for at least nine of the past ten years.

Applicable income consists of all income earned outside of Italy, with the exception of: capital gains arising from the sale of qualified shareholdings in the first five years following the effective date of the option, and income sourced in Italy and earned through a foreign intermediary entity (e.g. rents from an Italian property owned by a foreign company).

“The rental market is strong, but it’s important to note there are restrictions on the number of weeks you can rent for on a holiday let basis if that’s what you plan to do,” says Tim. “It’s the same in many major cities around Europe, and it’s to make sure that the hotel industry is not too deeply affected by the ‘airbnb’ generation, and that the city doesn’t end up full of empty apartments.”

rt Fund's 2022 Museum of the Year, Firstsite in Colchester, has stepped up to its newly acquired status with an exhibition that explores the interwoven stories of slavery, consumerism, luxury goods and empire through the history of Indian textiles.

The internationally renowned Singh Twins focus on the relationship between Britain and India, exploring the current debates around the legacy of colonial Empire, embracing themes such as ethical trade, consumerism and racism. Their handpainted works build on the tradition of the Indian miniature, the most recent combining hand-painting techniques with digitally created imagery.

This exhibition features two bodies of work from their Slaves of Fashion series.

Videos of the work in progress add a further dimension to the creations.

The digital artworks use themes relating to India’s textile industry. All include portraits of historical figures: Indigo: The Colour of India, features an image of the Mughal Queen, Mumtaz Mahal wearing jeans. Indigo, sometimes called 'blue gold' was highly prized as a dye. With works including recognisable figures such as Donald Trump, and Angela Merkel, the Singh Twins also explore topics ranging from pollution to geo-politics.
