As we go to print this month, a couple of events have not just caught our attention locally but have also put Australia front and centre on the global media stage. And not always for the right reasons. Referencing the Vaccine rollout was meant to be a message of hope. The vaccine is not obligatory – if you disagree with it, then simply don’t take it. No-one is out there protesting against those who don’t want to take it, so why protest against those that do? We all have to make a choice – there is no right or wrong – just choice. Which I think is something to be celebrated, not cause conflict.
This month we feature Newcastle Fringe Festival, which was also inadvertently caught up in the Facebook ban. We hope our feature will encourage you to get out and enjoy over a hundred events in eleven venues that these not-for-profit warriors have worked so hard to bring to us. It's bigger, better and more fabulous than ever – and we don’t need Facebook to tell us that it's well worth supporting. Enjoy!
