LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE

From the Outgoing Director

It is my pleasure to share with you the 2024/25 Annual Report, which provides a comprehensive overview of the International School of Prague’s academic performance, financial health, and strategic direction.

This has been a year of both continuity and transition. As ISP celebrates more than 75 years of excellence, we remain firmly committed to our mission: to Inspire, Engage, and Empower all learners to be Curious, Competent, and Compassionate Changemakers. We are proud to be one of the most respected international schools in Europe, with the full IB Continuum, a vibrant and diverse community, and a culture of care that continues to define who we are.

Throughout the 2024/25 academic year, we have continued to build on the strong foundation laid in recent years. We have made measurable progress on key strategic priorities, including curriculum innovation, faculty development, and campus planning. In particular, we have taken important steps toward the realisation of our Campus Facilities Roadmap. Phase I of the project, which includes a new STEM Design and Innovation Centre, and Elementary Cafeteria and Multipurpose Centre, is on track for opening in 2027. These improvements will create the space and infrastructure our growing student body needs, while supporting our inquirybased, interdisciplinary approach to learning.

We have also continued to prioritise student wellbeing. In a world that is increasingly

complex and uncertain, we remain committed to cultivating a school environment where students feel seen, heard, and supported. Our faculty and staff work intentionally to ensure that emotional safety and belonging remain central to the ISP experience. When students feel emotionally secure, their capacity to learn, take risks, and grow is maximised.

As always, we are grateful for the close collaboration between the Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team. This year, we have worked hand in hand to ensure responsible stewardship of the school’s financial resources, sustain high academic standards, and prepare ISP for continued longterm success. ISP remains in a strong financial position, supported by a fully enrolled student body and guided by prudent fiscal planning.

As the 2024/25 academic year saw my tenure as Director of ISP draw to an end, I left the school with tremendous pride and gratitude. It has been an honour to serve this remarkable community. I am confident that under the leadership of incoming Director Dr. Cal Callaway, ISP will continue to thrive and evolve, while staying true to its values and mission.

Thank you to our students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters for your partnership and belief in the power of education. We hope you enjoy this year’s Annual Report and look forward to what the future holds for the ISP community.

Warm regards,

(1 July 2021 – 30 June 2025)

LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE

From the Director

I step into the role of Director with immense respect for the remarkable work accomplished across our community. It is an honour to succeed Dr. Chip Kimball, whose dedicated leadership has positioned the International School of Prague (ISP) for a vibrant and successful future.

Under Dr. Kimball’s guidance, ISP has not only celebrated its 75th anniversary, but has solidified its reputation as a globally recognised institution - innovative, inclusive, and future-focused. This did not happen by accident. His vision was instrumental in driving the sustained focus on inquiry-based learning, bringing in the IB Continuum, and in launching key strategic initiatives, such as the Campus Facilities Roadmap. The strong foundation he provides us is a testament to the collective efforts of our dedicated staff, students, and families.

My commitment is to build upon this incredible foundation. I believe strongly in our Mission and the “four Cs” of Curiosity, Competence, Compassion and Changemaking that define our community and ensure ISP continues to be one of the most progressive and impactful international schools in Europe.

This Annual Report proudly celebrates ‘Changemakers at ISP’. Across our community, learners draw on their curiosity, competencies, and compassion to take meaningful action that enriches our school and contributes to the wider world. Through stories from each school section, we share a glimpse of how our students engage with real-world issues and practise principled action throughout the year. We hope you feel as inspired by their efforts as we do.

Warm regards,

Dr. Cal Callaway Director (from 1 July 2025)

LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE

From the Chair of the ISP Board of Trustees

As I conclude my final year as Chair of the Board of Trustees, it is with immense pride that I welcome you to the 2024/25 Annual Report. This has been a year of pivotal transition and continued achievement for the International School of Prague (ISP), and it has been an honour to lead the Board through this important chapter in the school's history.

As ISP navigates a period of significant leadership transition, which includes my own decision to step down as Board Chair, we also bid a grateful farewell to Director, Dr. Chip Kimball. On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, I want to express our profound gratitude for his exceptional leadership. During his tenure, Dr. Kimball's vision was instrumental in achieving major goals. He successfully led ISP to become the only school in the Czech Republic accredited for the full IB Continuum and oversaw the development and launch of an ambitious Campus Facilities Roadmap, a comprehensive plan to strategically improve and expand ISP’s campus for future generations.

We now welcome our new Director Dr. Cal Callaway, whose impressive background and passion for international education promise an exciting future for our school. I am also pleased to announce that Brian Wardrop has been elected as the next Chair of the Board. With his deep commitment to ISP’s values, I am confident the school is in excellent hands.

Our shared commitment to providing an outstanding learning environment has been visibly demonstrated through the significant progress on our Campus Roadmap. We have seen exciting developments with the STEM Design and Innovation Centre and the new Elementary School Cafeteria and Multipurpose Space.

These projects are more than just buildings; they are thoughtfully designed environments that will empower our students and faculty to engage in innovative and collaborative learning for years to come.

The true strength of ISP has always been its people. Throughout this year of transition, the resilience, dedication, and collaborative spirit of our faculty, staff, parents, and students have been truly inspiring. It is your collective commitment to ISP’s mission that fuels our success and makes this such a vibrant and exceptional community.

I would like to express my deepest appreciation to my fellow Trustees, the ISP Senior Leadership Team, and the entire school community for your collaboration and support. It has been an honour to serve this remarkable community, and I remain deeply committed to the school and its continued success.

Warm regards,

Board

Building a Caring Classroom

In the Primary Years Programme, the transdisciplinary unit 'Who We Are' asks students to inquire into the nature of the self. For our youngest learners in the Early Childhood Foundation (ECF), this inquiry focused on what it means to be part of a caring community.

Through intentional play, storytelling, group reflections, and daily routines, students investigated what kindness looks like, sounds like, and feels like. They explored how each person, in their own unique way, helps shape the classroom culture. This foundational unit was a daily practice in empathy, collaboration, and active listening, as children learned to build relationships and make space for one another’s voices and ideas.

The unit also provided a powerful opportunity for leadership, as older ECF students took on mentoring roles. They modelled positive social behaviours and supported their younger peers in developing social-emotional skills. From helping a friend solve a problem to offering comfort when someone felt sad, their actions showed that even small moments can make a big impact.

Together, the ECF students created a classroom where compassion and community were not just abstract values, but lived experiences, proving that you are never too young to be a changemaker.

Cosmic Creations with a Conscience

This year, Grade 3 students transformed their learning space into a cosmic wonderland for their "Space Expo." It was the culmination of "Our Place in Space," a transdisciplinary IB unit guided by a powerful central idea: "Our curiosity about the Earth and the solar system leads us to new understandings."

The Expo was a vibrant showcase of hands-on inquiry. Students presented detailed models of Earth's layers, dynamic presentations on the moon's phases, and even engaging board games to explain black holes and dwarf planets. Others researched the history of space exploration, from the first satellites to the achievements of astronauts.

A key challenge, however, was to link this cosmic exploration to their earlier unit on sustainability. The students embraced this by turning "trash" into intergalactic treasure. Cardboard boxes became models of the Earth's layers, plastic bottles were pieced together to form distant planets, and aluminum foil was used to mimic reflective satellites.

The result was a brilliant fusion of two units. By choosing to build with recyclables, the Grade 3 students not only deepened their understanding of space but also actively practiced sustainability, proving that curiosity and compassion go handin-hand. It was a perfect lesson in what it means to be a changemaker.

Earth Week at ISP: From Awareness to Action

From planting trees to pledging a plastic-free future, students across ISP marked Earth Week 2025 with hands-on action and a shared commitment to the planet. The initiative was planned by students returning from a Changemaker Summit and was made possible by the generosity of our parent community through gifts to the ISP Fund.

The week highlighted how environmental responsibility at ISP is about empowering young people to lead with purpose and turn learning into lasting change.

Tree planting took centre stage, with Elementary students planting a new willow tree in the ECF Fairy Garden. Meanwhile, Middle School students, inspired by a "Plant-for-the-Planet" Academy, held their own lunchtime tree planting event—a lasting symbol of their commitment to sustainability.

The MS Changemakers Club also coordinated a plastic waste audit. After discovering the surprising volume of daily plastic waste, students and teachers were invited to take a ‘Plastic-Free Pledge’, committing to reduce their use of singleuse plastics.

To cap off the week, ISP welcomed Arlian Ecker, the teenage environmental advocate known as "Plastic Free Boy." From puppet shows with our youngest learners to thought-provoking presentations for Upper School, Arlian’s message was clear: protecting the planet is urgent, and it starts now with this generation.

This student-driven week ties directly into ISP’s broader sustainability goals as the school works toward Eco-Schools certification. Earth Week 2025 was a powerful example of ISP's mission in action, showcasing a community of empowered changemakers uniting to care for our planet.

Earth Week at ISP is a powerful example of what happens when student voice, purpose, and learning come together. This wasn’t a one-off event - it was about creating lasting impact, driven by our young changemakers."

Turning data into dialogue, and ideas into impact

Our IB science classrooms are more than just laboratories; they are incubators for innovation. Here, students master complex scientific principles through hands-on inquiry, rigorous experimentation, and deep collaboration.

This year, the IB Group 4 project challenged students to take this foundation of knowledge and apply it to global advocacy. Participating in the "World of 8 Billion" international video contest, students were tasked with creating a one-minute film linking population growth to a critical environmental issue and proposing a sustainable solution.

This project brought the curriculum to life, demanding teamwork, cross-disciplinary thinking, and real-world problem-solving. We are incredibly proud to announce that one standout film, which focused on sanitation in the Ganges River, was recognised as a finalist in the competition - a testament to the power of student-led inquiry.

The experience pushed students to move from scientific theory to practical advocacy, empowering them to be the thoughtful, creative, and solution-oriented changemakers the world needs.

From New Instruments to Centre Stage: Celebrating Musical Growth and Exploration

For the past few years, the Elementary School After-school Activities (ES ASA) club worked creatively with limited instrument resources. However, thanks to the generous support of the ISP community through the ISP Fund, for the 2024/25 school year the music programme was significantly enhanced with a suite of 20 brandnew instruments. This exciting collection included flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones - dedicated to Grade 5 students.

To maximise the impact of these new resources, the school implemented a well-rounded music programme featuring expert instruction. Specialist teachers, many part of the ISP ‘Visiting Artist’ Programme, offer skilled guidance in both playing techniques and understanding music theory. A notable benefit of this initiative is the great sense of community developing, as the sound of students' music echoes around the corridors at recess, fostering connections as they support and chat to each other about their progress.

This stage is crucial as students begin to explore music more deeply. The programme intentionally provided the chance to try out different instruments and find the one that best suited their interest and aptitude. This freedom to explore helped students develop strong fundamental skills and discover a genuine passion for music, with the goal of inspiring them to continue exploring music throughout their lives.

The journey of the new music programme was celebrated through two key events: the first-ever Elementary Instrumental Concert in November 2024, and the grand finale, the end-of-year ES Grade 5 Band concert in June 2025.

During the June concert, students proudly showcased their talents, demonstrating the progress they had made throughout the year. The brass, woodwind, and string sections filled the theatre with music, a living testament to the opportunities made possible by the school community, and the commitment of the students and faculty.

The music programme offered at ISP is a true highlight that continues into the Middle School experience, where students can progress from being an absolute beginner to becoming a highly proficient musician through continued dedication and expert teaching.

Grade 5 is the perfect time to introduce students to a range of different instruments and help them build a strong foundation for their Grade 6 electives."

Comedy and Creativity: Middle School Leaders in Action

This year, our Middle School students brought delightful humour and energy to the stage with their production of 15 Reasons Not to Be in a Play by Alan Haehnel. Guided by our new drama teacher, Lynelle Schumacher, the cast delivered a lively and engaging performance, perfectly capturing the play's witty and chaotic spirit.

A special focus of this production was student agency and leadership. An enormous effort was made to have almost every feature of the play be student-made. Just as impressive as the performers, a dedicated student crew took on key leadership roles in costumes, set design, sound, lights, and all backstage management.

This student-driven approach did more than just build skills; it empowered our Middle Schoolers as creators, leaders, and problem-solvers. By taking ownership of everything from design to execution, they practiced the core skills of a changemaker: initiative, collaboration, and seeing a complex project through from concept to reality.

The final performances were met with enthusiastic applause, celebrating a production that was more than just a play. It was a powerful, hands-on learning experience that demonstrated the incredible results of trusting students to lead, highlighting our commitment to fostering creative, confident, and proactive individuals.

Hoops for Hope: A Story of Student Spirit and Community Action

It's amazing how a student’s simple idea can grow into a new school tradition. That's exactly what's happened with "Hoops for Hope" at ISP. This series of lunchtime basketball games shows the best of our students - their initiative, kindness, and ability to lead. It's an event that unites the school community through sport while channelling that energy into a powerful charitable mission: making a real difference in the wider community.

This year, the second annual event was expertly run by Upper School students Lea, Sofie, and Klaudia, who led a collaboration between two student groups: the cancer awareness club, Hearts of Hope, and the Athletics Council. Together, they organised an event that got the whole school buzzing. The gymnasium was full of energy as teams from the Middle and Upper Schools faced off in a friendly 3x3 tournament. The event's community spirit was best exemplified by the popular mixed teams, which saw students and teachers playing side-by-side. In a fitting testament to this collaboration, the tournament was eventually won by one of these student-teacher teams.

Their hard work paid off. Through player entry fees and a student-run bake sale, the tournament raised an incredible 24,000 CZK for Liga Proti Rakovině, a Czech charity that supports cancer patients. This builds on the previous year's success, which raised funds for cancer patients at Motol Hospital in Prague.

But Hoops for Hope is about more than raising money; it's about strengthening the ISP community. The event is also a chance to learn, as the Hearts of Hope team used social media to share information about different types of cancer and help destigmatise the topic.

The success of Hoops for Hope really comes down to our students. They handled everything, from getting the word out and scheduling matches to the fundraising itself. They're already planning for next year, listening to feedback to encourage even more student-teacher teams, girls, and Middle School students to take part.

"I’ve grown up surrounded by ISP's annual traditions," said Sofie, one of the event's lead organisers. "Knowing that our event could become one of them is an amazing feeling."

Hoops for Hope is much more than a basketball tournament; it's a perfect example of how our students use their passions to make a positive change, building something truly special for our community at ISP.

Student Changemakers Launch Real-World Business Seminar

This year, the Upper School Business Club hosted its first-ever Business Seminar, an event entirely conceived and executed by student changemakers.

Grade 10 student Niki developed the initial concept, identifying a need for a platform that would bring real-world business insights directly to her peers. Her vision was to create a unique opportunity for one-on-one questions with professionals. Niki also took the lead in executing the project, with support from fellow student Marketa. Together, they managed the entire event, from planning and promotion to securing an impressive lineup of entrepreneurs and executives.

The speakers represented a wealth of experience and a strong connection to the ISP community. They featured ISP alumni Stefan Savić (Biohealing CEO; Class of 2009), William Jalloul (Flowpay Founder; Class of 2009), Natalie Savić (Managing Director of M Consulting; Class of 2007), and Jan Sýkora (Wood & Co CEO; former ISP Trustee and parent). From them, students gained first-hand advice on entrepreneurship, finance, technology, public relations, and life beyond school.

Taking their idea from concept to execution, our student leaders delivered a high-impact event. This initiative has set a standard for professional mentorship at ISP that the Business Club plans to replicate in future years.

The initial idea behind the Business Seminar project was to create a student-led platform which would bring real-world business insights to the US community beyond the classroom."

2025 Alumni Reunion: An Opportunity for Meaningful Contribution

It was wonderful to welcome 60 former students back to campus for this year’s Alumni Reunion. Hosted for the first time in the Hub Library, the space provided a relaxed setting for catching up with former classmates and old friends. There was a particularly strong turnout from the Class of 2015, who gathered to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The evening was made even more memorable by the return of former teachers Marcella Vesseca and Julie Lodi.

The reunion was highlighted by three inspiring speeches from ISP’s new Director Dr. Cal Callaway, and long-serving teachers John Crane and Lawrence Hrubeš.

As the new Director, Dr. Callaway spoke of his desire to "reignite the partnership between the school and our alumni". He extended a clear invitation for alumni to share their valuable knowledge and professional insights to help shape students' futures. This contribution is envisioned through real-world opportunities such as guest lectures, mentorships, and internships. The goal is to create a "powerful, lasting network" that benefits both current students and the wider ISP community.

This focus on engagement builds on successful past collaborations. Earlier in the year, a 'StudentLed Business Seminar' featured alumni lecturers Natalie Savić (Class of 2007), William Jalloul (Class of 2009), and Stefan Slavić (Class of 2009).

Looking ahead, ISP plans to host a bi-annual Career Fair, inviting alumni to return and introduce current students to their diverse fields of expertise.

Beyond the speeches, guests enjoyed a complimentary Mexican-themed dinner provided by ISP's new catering partner, Aramark.

Many attendees also joined a guided campus tour, which offered a chance to explore new facilities, including the Anatomage Table.

The 2025 Alumni Reunion was more than a celebration; it was a chance to reconnect, reminisce, and reflect on the positive impact alumni can continue to make at ISP.

ISP is always happy to welcome alumni back to campus. If you are interested in getting involved in events, mentorship, or the upcoming Career Fair, please contact Alumni Coordinator Furugh Nahib (Class of 2009) at alumni@isp.cz.

A Decade of Ideas: TEDxYouth@ISPrague Celebrates 10 Years

One of the most popular and impactful offerings in the Upper School, the student-led TEDxYouth@ ISPrague club celebrated a major milestone this year: 10 years of hosting this prestigious event. Since 2015, when an 11th grade student began organising TEDx at ISP with a small group of friends, our school has produced over 100 original talks, amassing well over 1 million combined online views, and bringing local and global communities together in the spirit of ideasharing.

The lineup for this 10th-anniversary event was a true reflection of the ISP community. The majority of speakers were Upper School students, joined by special guests from the teaching faculty and a stellar jazz performance from a Middle School student. Talks showcased a rich diversity of "ideas worth spreading," with a "Student Moral Philosopher," a "Math Education Reformer," and an "Education AI Advocate," among others, exploring topics from student diplomacy and activism to the future of technology in the classroom.

The event is a testament to student leadership, created and produced almost entirely by our Upper School students. Beyond the speakers on stage, students take on many essential roles behind the scenes, starting each spring by organising auditions and curating the final selection of speakers. Students provide feedback to their peers, including some faculty speakers and invited experts, as they draft TEDx talks and prepare their delivery. Theatre production students learn how to operate lights and sound, then manage those technical systems during the live event. The event's professional quality and diverse ideas are later shared with the global community thanks to ISP film students, who form a dedicated TEDxYouth video crew, responsible for filming and editing each talk.

Lawrence Hrubeš, a faculty advisor to the student team, says of the student organisers, “They’re really motivated when they realise the success of this project depends on them, and that we trust them to make major decisions. They’re not concerned with an academic grade, but by a sense of responsibility to others and pride in their collective work. That’s why so many of our student organisers and speakers have chosen to work on TEDx for two or three years, despite the workload and long timeline.”

TEDxYouth@ISPrague is far more than just a platform for sharing ideas; it is a powerful, realworld learning experience. It empowers our students to become confident communicators, effective leaders, and thoughtful global citizens. The talks from this 10th-anniversary event join the many others already published on the official TEDx YouTube channel, adding to ISP's impressive and growing library of ideas.

ISP Winter Fair 2024: A Festive Celebration of Community

At the 2024 Winter & Changemaker Fair, ISP’s campus was filled with festive cheer as the ISP community gathered for this highly anticipated annual celebration. This beloved holiday event, held before the winter break, once again showcased the warmth, creativity, and generosity of our community.

The Fair featured an impressive array of over 70 vendors offering unique gifts, handmade crafts, jewellery, and more, providing a perfect opportunity for attendees to get a head start on their holiday shopping. Local restaurateurs complemented the lively atmosphere with delicious food and drink options, including Czech favourites such as traditional trdelník.

Adding to the festive spirit were performances by our talented students, faculty, and the Elementary School Choir, along with a showcase from Viva Voce, Prague’s renowned international ladies’ choir. The Small Gym hosted sports activities for those seeking active fun, making the event enjoyable for all ages.

A highlight of the day was the Changemaker Showcase and Market, where our students proudly presented their service projects. From handcrafted items to baked goods, these initiatives reflected their dedication to making a positive impact in our community and beyond.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this year's Winter & Changemaker Fair. Thank you to the vendors and stallholders for your inspiring creativity, to the performers for bringing festive cheer, and to the parents and community members for your unwavering support.

To all who visited, participated, or simply shared in the joy of the day, we are deeply thankful for your presence. This event would not have been possible without the collective spirit of our community.

A Growing Culture of Giving and Impact: Generosity Transforms Learning at ISP THANK YOU!

At the International School of Prague, a vibrant culture of giving is flourishing. More than ever, philanthropy is woven into the fabric of our community. It fuels innovation, advances inclusion, and helps transform our campus into a future-ready learning environment.

Because of our community’s generosity, this school year has been filled with new opportunities for discovery, creativity, and connection across our campus. Donations, of every size, have extended and enhanced learning in ways tuition alone could never achieve.

As a not-for-profit school, every gift is reinvested into our people, programmes, and campus. Together, we are building a school where learning is transformative, inclusive, and futurefocused.

In 2024/25, the generosity of our community strengthened ISP’s mission across three key philanthropic priorities.

ISP Fund: Innovation

Now a cornerstone of our annual culture of giving, the ISP Fund supports student-centred programmes that enhance our learning. In 2024/25, we raised 4 million CZK, funding more than 30 innovative projects designed and led by our teachers. Highlights include the Anatomage Table (a unique tool in our region), LEGO Science Kits, Ozobot robots, a new Weather Station, and a Greenhouse. These initiatives bring learning to life through authentic, hands-on experiences that prepare students for the future.

ISP Scholarship Programme: Inclusion

Thanks to the generous support of our community and corporate sponsors, 12 outstanding scholars had the opportunity to study at ISP in 2024/25. These scholars bring academic excellence, diverse perspectives, and socio-economic diversity, all of which enrich our community in meaningful ways.

ISP Capital Campaign: Future-Ready Learning

With over 126 million CZK in new gifts and pledges, we launched “Mapping ISP’s Future,” the most ambitious Capital Campaign in our history. This initiative supports the implementation of ISP’s Campus Facilities Roadmap, a bold vision to transform our physical environment. These planned improvements will create spaces that foster innovation, support wellbeing, and cultivate the future-ready skills and mindsets our students need to lead with purpose in a rapidly changing world.

Giving is truly at the heart of ISP, and we are deeply grateful to all our donors who help bring our mission to life.

These highlights showcase just a few of the meaningful ways our community’s generosity is transforming learning at ISP.

Anatomage Table: Opening New Frontiers in Science Learning

ISP is proud to be the only school in Central and Eastern Europe with this powerful digital platform that makes science come alive, placing our students at the forefront of hands-on, futurefocused science learning.

The Anatomage Table allows learners to explore the human body in detail through real cadaver studies, investigate forensic cases, and run science simulations in physics, chemistry, biology, and earth/space science.

Lego Science Education Kits: A Hands-On Opportunity for Scientific

Inquiry

These kits offer hundreds of curriculumaligned lessons that spark curiosity and keep students actively engaged. Through building, experimenting, and testing ideas together, our young learners will develop problem-solving skills and strengthen collaboration with their peers. Teachers also benefit from Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) aligned resources and lesson plans that enrich and extend the science curriculum.

Laser Cutter and 3D Printers: Turning Ideas Into Reality

The MYP Design Studio is a creative hub where students in Grades 6–10 use design thinking to brainstorm, prototype, and solve real-world problems. Thanks to the generosity of our community through the ISP Fund, this space has continued to grow with professional-grade tools and equipment. The latest additions, a laser cutter and four new 3D printers, take student creativity to the next level.

These tools are changing the way students bring their ideas to life. The laser cutter allows for precise, rapid prototyping, while the 3D printers turn digital designs into tangible models with speed and confidence. Together, they encourage experimentation, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.

Hydroponics Project: Exploring Sustainable Food Systems

This system brings science to life by allowing students to collect data, test theories, and observe plant growth in real time. It also supports our participation in the global Eco-Schools programme as ISP works toward Green Flag status, helping students connect classroom learning with sustainable practices.

The hydroponics system will also support IB Diploma Programme projects, giving students the chance to ground their research in a realworld context while strengthening their skills in inquiry, observation, and problem-solving. It’s a powerful way for them to see how science connects to the world around them and to develop the habits of inquiry that define future scientists.

Interactive Screens: Bringing Middle School Maths to Life

Middle School mathematics classrooms in Grades 6, 7, and 8 are now equipped with state-of-the-art interactive touchscreens that are transforming the way students engage with mathematics.

These new screens move learning beyond memorisation, allowing students to explore concepts in a visual, dynamic, and hands-on way. From investigating geometric patterns to testing algebraic ideas in real time, the technology helps students see and understand mathematics as a living language, one they can use to describe and make sense of the world around them.

Design, Build, Play: A New Era of Learning on the ES Playground

Our youngest learners are discovering new ways to collaborate, create, and grow on the Elementary School playground.

With the introduction of specially designed building blocks, children are now able to design, build, and play together in ways that spark imagination, teamwork, and problem-solving.

These oversized blocks are already a favourite among students. Every day, they inspire physical challenges, imaginative play, and opportunities for innovation. We have seen children who often find it difficult to take turns or consider others’ ideas come together naturally around these blocks, cooperating, sharing, and building side by side. What begins as play quickly becomes a lesson in social, cognitive, and physical growth.

From designing slides and obstacle courses to inventing entirely new play structures, students are empowered to be architects of their own adventures. One child summed it up best: “We are designing and building our own playground.”

A Ticket to the World: Katerina’s Journey from Scholar to Global Citizen

For Katerina Sukdolakova, ISP Class of 2011, receiving a scholarship to the International School of Prague changed everything.

Seventeen years ago, her daily commute from Prague 4 to the Šárka Valley was more than a change in scenery. It was a transformative shift in perspective. “It felt like I was travelling to a different country,” she recalled. At ISP, culture was not just studied, it was lived. Her world expanded.

“I think of the ISP scholarship as a chance to be curious, to think differently, and to design your own learning journey,” she reflected.

Her original goal was simple: to practise English and meet people from different backgrounds. But what she found was something much deeper —a community that encouraged her voice, supported her growth, and helped her see her own identity through a global lens. Even when she stumbled in her first Speech and Debate meeting, what she remembers most is being encouraged, not judged.

That early sense of belonging became a foundation. After earning her IB Diploma at ISP, Katerina went on to study in the United States, complete a Master’s degree in Switzerland, and build a career in Bern. At every step, she carried the mindset of openness, confidence, and curiosity she first discovered at ISP.

“I was given a chance to grow, to be part of a vibrant, supportive community, and to begin my international journey.”

For Katerina, the ISP scholarship was more than financial support. It was an invitation to explore the world and a reminder that belief can change a life.

Mapping ISP's Future: A Bold New Vision for Learning

The 2024/25 school year marked a pivotal moment in ISP’s history as we formally launched "Mapping ISP's Future"—a comprehensive Campus Facilities Roadmap that will transform our learning environment. This bold vision is the culmination of a year-long process of consultation with key stakeholders, including faculty, parents, and students, to set a clear path for the next generation of learners at ISP.

At ISP, we believe where students learn is as important as what they learn. This roadmap is built on the belief that our campus acts as a "third teacher," inspiring innovation, wellbeing, and future-ready learning. As the world rapidly changes, we are committed to ensuring our students thrive. This requires a transformative approach to learning—one that is agile, immersive, and relevant. As ISP embraces its ambition to be one of Europe’s leading schools, this plan provides the catalyst for that transformation.

The newly adopted roadmap lays out a clear, multi-year implementation. The first project, set for the 2026-27 school year, will be the Main Cafeteria Renovation, revitalising our central community hub for dining and connection. This will be followed in 2027-28 by the realisation of Phase 1, which includes the construction of two flagship spaces: the new STEM Design & Innovation Centre and a new Elementary Cafeteria & Multipurpose Space.

The STEM Centre will be a high-tech hub for hands-on, interdisciplinary exploration, while the Elementary hub will be a dynamic, multi-sensory space for eating, playing, and creating, complete with a 'Teaching Kitchen'.

Subsequent phases, with timelines to be determined, will see a comprehensive Middle & Upper School modernisation to create flexible, tech-enabled classrooms, and the creation of a new Multi-purpose Activity & Welcome Centre.

This roadmap is more than a building project; it is a commitment to "reimagining the future of learning". It is designed to ensure our facilities reflect our boldest aspirations and empower students to become the Curious, Competent, and Compassionate Changemakers our mission envisions.

This is our moment to shape ISP's future and empower students to shape a better world."

Love & Truth: An Unforgettable 2025 ISP Gala

The 2025 ISP Gala, our biggest community event of the year, brought together parents, faculty, staff, and alumni for a spectacular night of elegance, generosity, and shared purpose. Set against the stunning, soaring architecture of the Prague Crossroads, this year's Gala was united by the theme "Love & Truth".

From the moment guests arrived, the venue was filled with warmth and connection. The evening was a true celebration of the ISP community, featuring a gourmet dinner and captivating musical performances from acclaimed violinist Josek Špaček and renowned singer Marta Jandová. Guests eagerly participated in both Live and Silent Auctions, bidding on an incredible collection of exclusive experiences and unique items generously donated by our community.

The undisputed heart of the evening was a moving speech from Kateřina Sukdoláková, an ISP Scholar and alumna from the Class of 2011. Her words, reflecting on her journey, served as a powerful reminder of the ISP Scholarship Programme's true impact, demonstrating how it unlocks potential and transforms lives.

The "Love & Truth" theme was clearly felt, as the community's incredible generosity shone through. Thanks to our corporate sponsors, individual donors, and all who contributed, the event raised an astounding 5 million CZK.

These funds go directly to the ISP Scholarship Programme, which has a legacy of more than three decades of awarding academic scholarships to talented young people in the Czech Republic. The success of the 2025 Gala ensures that this vital tradition will continue, shaping the changemakers of tomorrow.

Your presence here today really matters in the lives of those who want to come and study at ISP. Without you, and without your generosity, it wouldn’t have been possible.”

FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

From the Board Treasurer & Chief Operating Officer

We are pleased to report that ISP concluded the financial year in a strong and stable position, despite the challenges posed by global geopolitical events. Student enrolment reached an end-of-year full-time equivalency (FTE) of 931, which is 1% below the budget, generating a 1% decrease over budget in gross tuition income and Capital Assessment Fees (CAF), while expenses were 3% lower than budgeted. The school continued to support a small number of humanitarian scholarships to help alleviate the impact on international school students resulting from the war in Ukraine.

Tuition and CAF for the 2024/25 fiscal year was below the budget by CZK 5,015K due to the decrease in student enrolment from 935 to 931, as measured in full-time equivalents (FTE). As with most schools, salaries and benefits continue to represent the school’s greatest operating expense, at 74.7% of total operating expenses.

The school’s surplus decreased to CZK 39,210K in the fiscal year 2024/25 compared to CZK 55,912K in the prior year. The positive result continues to allow the school to maintain its mandated financial reserve of 25% of budgeted expenses, and to ensure the continued growth of resources for the long-term improvement and enhancement of the facilities and campus in line with changes in educational needs and quality improvement.

The school began investing surplus funds during the 2021/22 fiscal year. While necessarily involving some modest risk, investment is a proper stewardship of school resources and fiduciary responsibility in terms of the long-term future of the school. The invested reserve fund in International School of Prague s.r.o. (ISP sro) resulted in the accounted earnings of CZK 4,396K and invested endowment in both entities

(ISP sro and Friends of the International School of Prague, z.s. (FoISP)) in the total accounted earnings of CZK 644K. The actual value of the reserve fund in ISP sro on 30 June 2025 was CZK 154,025K.

Risk Management

ISP’s focus in this area is to reasonably protect itself from imaginable economic and financial risks. Where possible, the School uses relevant tools to minimise the impact of these risks on the school's operation.

Persisting inflationary pressures present an ongoing financial challenge to the school, especially in the context of the desire to continuously improve the quality of the education delivered, and the need to retain and recruit high calibre teachers from around the world. The school is exploring creative approaches to uncover efficiencies that do not materially impact the learning programme, but despite this effort, inflation is likely to carry through to tuition increases to retain the quality of the educational programme.

Fees & Donations

ISP is able to provide its educational model not only through the fees it charges but also thanks to the generous donations it receives. The information below provides further clarity about the use of fees and donations.

Fees

ISP is a not for profit institution in the form of a Czech corporation (an “s.r.o” - společnost s ručením omezeným” or in English, Limited Liability Company). Educational regulations in the Czech Republic require that an international school offering a non-Czech curriculum be owned by a non-Czech entity; the non-Czech owner in our case is the International School of Prague

FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

Foundation, a U.S. not-for-profit entity (a “501(c) (3)”). This type of not for profit organisation has decades of legal and tax standing in the USA. The foundation document of ISP, for its part, stipulates that no dividends or benefits are to be distributed; all monies the school raises are reinvested in the school, and no profits accrue to any group or individual.

Each year, as with any well-run organisation, the school endeavors to finish the year with a positive financial result. This is planned as part of the budget process. During budget planning, fees (which include both Tuition and Capital Assessment) are set. Tuition is intended to meet the current costs of educating students. The Capital Assessment, for its part, may be used for current year capital expenditures (investment in infrastructure), to assist in retiring of any future debt incurred for the major capital investments of the School, or be allocated to a capital fund to help in the future funding of major strategic investments in the facility.

Although the exact amounts vary annually, payers can expect that most of their overall fees are going towards current-year expenses and planning for the future. For those fees that are not used this year, fees are rolled forward; current families are the beneficiaries of the Capital Assessment paid by prior families, just as future families will be the beneficiaries of the Capital Assessment paid by current families.

Funds that are in excess of the above needs may from time to time be placed by a decision of the Trustees into the School’s Endowment.

Donations

Donations are generally received and managed through two entities: Friends of the International School of Prague, z.s.(FoISP) is a not-for-profit association that raises funds in support of the International School of Prague.

The International School of Prague Foundation, Inc. is a US not-for-profit 501(c)3 organisation whose mission is to support education. It is this Foundation that formally owns the School.

In 2024/25 donations received totalled CZK 43,604K. These donations were restricted to one of the following programmes:

ISP Scholarship Programme: CZK 5,091K to support new scholars to join the International School of Prague.

ISP Fund: CZK 3,992K to allow targeted spending on programmes that enrich the ISP's unique learning experience.

Capital Campaign: CZK 33,000K to support the implementation of ISP’s Campus Facilities Roadmap.
