COMMUNITY UPDATE 13 September 2024

DIRECTOR’S UPDATE Dear Community Members, We started the year with a lot of great energy and excitement for what 2024-25 has in store. Last Friday we launched our Strategy Playbook, and I hope you had a chance to open this document and learn more about how we are moving forward with our plans to make ISB an even better school in the years to come. There is a lot going at ISB, so I want to share various updates and reminders in this issue. First, myself and our board chair (George Nazi) will be hosting two Community Meetings on 26 (18:00) and 27 September (9:00). Last year was the first year for this event, and building on the success of that event we hope that even more people will join in two weeks' time. We will provide an ‘annual report’, discuss strategy for the future and welcome questions. If you are planning on joining us, please don’t forget to RSVP as this helps us with our planning. Every two years we conduct an in-depth Parent Perception study, and this September we are conducting our third one since I began as Director. I can personally assure you that the results are carefully considered by myself and the leadership team. Thank you to those who have already completed the survey, and for those who have not had a chance to do so yet, please do participate as we want to hear from as many parents as possible by 14 September. For those of you with children in the Upper School, don't forget to join us for the annual Brussels College Night on 25 September. It is a real honour to be chosen as the host of the only US focused college fair in Belgium, and students will be travelling from throughout the region for the chance to meet college representatives in person and explore future possibilities beyond High School. Mark your calendars. Homecoming 2024, is on Friday, 4 October and this event is unlike any other. The entire ISB community including alumni from many generations and from different places in the world will be coming together for an afternoon of sports, great food, and a lot of fun! I was happy to see so many of our parents on campus for the three Open House events that took place over the last three weeks for MS, ES, and HS and Raiders 101 last week. I look forward to seeing more of you at the upcoming ECC Open House next week. Being able to discuss your childrens’ education in person is something we all appreciate, so we thank you for investing your time and attending these events. Kind regards,

James MacDonald ISB Director
