The beautiful facility set in the French ‘horse capital’ of Fontainbleau played host to the $55,750-added Maturity & Derby. The Maturity was open to 8-year-old horses and up; the Derby to 4,5,6 and 7-year-olds. The show with a place for everyone also offered 3 and 4-year-old Snaffle Bit classes

n a field of 27 entries, NRHA Two Million Bernard Fonck and Nathalie Derua’s 5-yearold stallion ND Pop Gun Trash (NRHA Four Million Dollar Sire Gunnatrashya x Pop Tart) laid down a strong performance paid back by the judges with a 227 score. The pair conquered the public and the $15,000-added BO Ranch L4 Open Derby Championship, along with the LL Tecnologie Arena Drag. “I am really happy I achieved this result with this stallion trained by Matyas Gobert,” said Fonck. “I’ve had him for a few years, he’s not an easy horse but here I found the key and we finally clicked. He did really good for me tonight and I am very happy that my wife, Ann, did

Journal PETRA VAN EDE TOPS THE $5,000-ADDED BO RANCH LEVEL 2 OPEN DERBY Dutch Professional Petra Van Ede rode her own Gonnashowya, a 5year-old stallion by NRHA Four Million Dollar Sire Gunnatrashya out of her own mare JK Vivs Show Tip, to top honors in the BO Ranch Level 2 Open Derby with a great performance worth a 221.5 In 2019 BO Ranch, an exclusive facility dedicated to showing and breeding reining horses, officially opened its doors to international competition welcoming over 130 horses taking part in the inaugural $55,000-added BO Ranch Maturity. The $26,000-added Open Maturity saw NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Bernard Fonck take the win in the Level (L)4 division riding Shiners Voodoo (Shiners Voodoo Dr x BR China Rose) for owner Kimberly Wegner.

he also scored a 220 riding Gisela Haas’ Cee U In Tinseltown (NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire Hollywoodstinseltown x Miss Wimpy Hollywood) to take reserve honors. “It’s been a great night and I still cannot believe it,” she said. “I bred Gonnashowya, and he’s out of a mare I own so that makes me very happy. Cee U In Tinseltown is a mare I have shown successfully and I love her to death. I cannot thank owners Gisela and Paulus Beurskens enough for giving me the opportunity to have her under my guidance, and all my team for their amazing help.” •

The inaugural Jackpot Schooling Class—counting 63 entries— saw NRHA Million Dollar Rider Ann Fonck aboard Gunners Snappy Chic (NRHA Twelve Million Dollar Sire Gunner x Chics Miss Snap), owned by Piet Mestadgh, post a 72 to top the leaderboard.

"My horse was cool for me all the way tonight," he said. "He truly is a once-in-alifetime horse and I am privileged to be able to show him." The Reserve Championship, with a 213.5 score, was for Morgane Bohu riding MLC Whiz On Top, an 8-year-old American Quarter Horse stallion by Sail On Top Whizard out of CDS Frozzy Sail Spat owned by Danielle Dhinaut. •

iding the wonderfully talented Colonel Chic Dream, an 8year-old American Quarter Horse gelding by NRHA Seven Million Dollar Sire Magnum Chic Dream out of Princess Colonel, Francesca Sternberg performed to a 217 and the Championship. “Everyone in our family has ridden this great horse and I am thrilled with this win,” said Sternberg. “Along with my good friend Corinnna [Schumacher], who won the Level 2, this show has been about being horse show moms—cooking, washing, and being grooms for our kids—and it’s been great!’ Taking reserve honors was Corinna Schumacher aboard The Spook Master, a 9-year-old American Quarter Horse stallion by NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire Smart Spook out of Master Little Belle owned by CS Ranch Management SA. Schumacher’s 216.5 score also secured the Level 2 Championship. “I’ve been out of the saddle for the past three years and Gina was the one who convinced me to come back and show,” said Schumacher. “It’s been great, I got the fever back, and what made it even more special—as Francesca mentioned— is the fact that we truly were horse show moms that also brought home a prize!”•

NRHA ANCILLARY ACTION SPOTLIGHT Alexandre Vanderstappen and his 6-year-old gelding Doc O Banjo sired by Banjammer out of Candy Doc Quixote, scored a 212.5 to win the NRHA Rookie Level 2. Second place, with a 210.5, was Patricia Waaijer riding Shinerslightningbug sired by NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire Hollywoodstinseltown out of Shiners June Bug.

SPOTLIGHT ON NRHA YOUTH Winning the BO Ranch NRHA Youth 13 & Under with a 136 score was Inès Duputel riding ARH Lucky Whiz Dunit, a 16-year-old gelding by Don Quintana out of Style Holly Dun It owned by Jean Baptiste Du Putel. In second place, with a 135 score, was Joana Sequeira riding her own Fury Sweetlove Dream (Smart Furys Remedy x Loves Lealeta Dream).

The BO Ranch NRHA Youth 14-18 champion was Lilou Duputel riding Doctors Diamond (Jazalena Diamond x Nu Chex Rose), a 10-year-old stallion owned by Jean baptiste Du Putel. The duo scored a 139. In second place, with a 136.5 score, was Alexandre Vanderstappen riding his own Doc O Banjo, a 6-year-old gelding by Banjammer out of Candy Doc Quixote.
