Logica | Ketchikan
by Bruno MoinardWorking is living. The best workplace is the one that allows expressing the pleasure of living.
Working is living. The best workplace is the one that allows expressing the pleasure of living.
Logica, Italian company part of the industrial group Interna - specialised in the production of high-end furniture for the contract, hospitality and office sectors – for more than 25 years offered furniture systems for every workplace, from the operative to the executive, up to the presidential ones. Furthermore Logica completes turnkey furniture projects in every part of the world. Its offer ranges from feasibility studies to production, from assembly to shipping, from quality control to after-sales service, integrating standard products with exclusively designed articles, conceived and created ad hoc for each specific space.
Today Logica presents Ketchikan, a strong and graphic design collection (albeit with some curves), created ad hoc by the Parisian master Bruno Moinard. It is a system that includes a wide range of items and offers multiple solutions and maximum flexibility, customizable in terms of modularity, materials and sizes to suit every aesthetic desire and all space and operational requirements. A collection designed for executive and operative workplaces, that require environmental quality and workspaces where to focus on the job, but also areas for collaboration and sharing. The furnishings, comfortable, ergonomic, environmentally friendly, have been designed to offer enjoyment of life at work, where the business needs are never detached from the human aspects of life such as comfort, mental well-being, health and safety.
Manage, think, meet, get together... with no superfluous detail in the way.
This is the leitmotiv of this work, to offer functionality and comfort to perform at the best the tasks of one’s profession.
It has been favoured, essentially, a design with strong and sharp lines, creating a white-black, cord-black duality. No affectation in the desks to divert attention, except for an extendable top to relax the arm and a small rotating shelf because "even the stomach needs matters".
In between the strength and the graphic rigor a speck of roundness has been included, discretely, but not timidly nor frivolously, as if to say that world, life and work are inextricably permeated of both. And so here are the rounded, non-invasive shapes of some elements: the small rotating shelf under the top, the door of the drawer units, the grip of the big handles; here is the soft touch finish that, startlingly, enhances the pleasure of touch.
A constant focus, the strength of the graphic sign that stands out in the thickness of the massive - yet light weighted - shelves and doors, and through the design created by lines of imposing cabinets with an unusual opening, to remind that nothing has to be taken for granted and that functionality, made of spaces that well know the demands of the daily organization, must reign supreme.
Simplicity and graphic, essential, neat lines; quality materials, durable and pleasant to the touch; refined finishes with colour combinations sought to promote a feeling of well being and relaxation. This is the more operative Ketchikan collection, a wide range of furniture and accessories designed to be combined without restriction, to meet any design, organization or space requirement.
Rigor and functionality characterize the large number of items in this collection, all designed to create areas of work to be composed in absolute flexibility depending on what is needed, a generous space at the same time shared and private, to interact or act within a personal space without being isolated from the rest of the world.
Compositional dynamism and chromatic duality in close coordination with the operative furniture characterize the modular containers, presented in a wide range of different types and heights to meet any storage and containment requirement.
The Collection Ketchikan is a rational and controlled, while extremely flexible and dynamic, system. This catalogue presents our codified proposals in terms of sizes, but each item can also be supplied with customized dimensions to meet any design requirement. Materials and finishes different from those codified in the present catalogue will have to be evaluated on an individual basis, taking into consideration the technical feasibility and the end-use of the products.
The tops are made of E1 class, extra light, melamine chipboard panels with 50 mm thickness, compliant with the EN 312 rules, with rounded edges made of 2 mm ABS. The standard finishes are, in the monochrome version, matt white and texture cord. The bicoloured version instead, presents the white or cord finish matched with the matt black that characterizes the front of the top longitudinally where a wide cable door is located. The structures are made of steel, with an horizontal element of 30 x 30 mm drawn pipe and legs of 70 x 20 mm rectangular pipe with a black matt epoxy powder varnish finish. The legs, distinctive feature of the collection, are available in the asymmetric X or vertical bridge version. The structures are fitted with an undercounter cabling tray made of varnished bent metal sheet, whose dimensions allow the effortless housing of multi socket plugs. The desks can be fitted with a series of modesty panels and screens made of opal satin PMMA with a smoked grey finish and 10 mm polished edges.

Right from the start of its history, and even more so today, the Logica trademark has been proposed to those who operate in the office sector, its mission being to supply high quality products and a reliable, personalised service. This has helped create a company which is extremely versatile when seeking, proposing and creating tailormade solutions designed around their clients, which means freedom from the limits normally set by massproduced products.
The Interna Group, on the other hand, has been operating for more than 20 years in the luxury interior design sector, and boasts an international reputation in the design of turnkey projects for hotels, restaurants, congress centres, boutiques, private residences, cruise liners and yachts. With the Logica trademark, the company intends diversifying their range of services on offer, as well as accepting the challenge of supplying a personal touch when furnishing contemporary work spaces. Today’s office spaces and congress centres require, or rather demand, certain specific characteristics, which range from versatility of the areas involved, to the ability of being able to host a variety of operational requirements.
To respond to these requirements, work environments proposed by Logica are essential, yet warm and personalised, with elegant yet extremely functional forms, made entirely from only solid, quality materials.
