For almost three decades, internationally renowned, Chicago-based artist Nick Cave has been working at the intersection of sculpture, installation, sound, performance, and film to address pressing societal issues related to race, gender, sexuality, and class.

As a creative, activist, educator and communitybuilder, Cave often activates and engages the public sphere as part of his artistic practice. Bob Faust, Nick’s partner and design collaborator, is the Principal and Creative Director for Faust, a Chicagobased art and design studio with a focus on cultural articulation. He has been described as “part artist, part designer and part mediator.”. Together, Nick and Bob launched Facility—a multi-disciplinary, multi-use collaborative space in Chicago, where art and design can foster peace, build power, and create change.

Designer, author, educator and artist Bruce Mau is a brilliantly creative optimist whose love of thorny problems led him to create a methodology for life-centered design. Across thirty years of design innovation, he’s collaborated with global brands and companies, leading organizations, heads of state, renowned artists and fellow optimists. His work and life story are the subject of the feature-length documentary, “MAU,” scheduled for North American theatrical release this month. In these times of complex, interrelated challenges, Bruce believes lifecentered design offers a clear path towards identifying the full context of our problems and developing innovative, sustainable, and holistic solutions.

Danish Design Makers (DDM), an alliance of designers with different backgrounds, but all with strong ties to the Danish Design culture, will be debuting the exhibition IN UNION at NeoCon. IN UNION will showcase DDM’s approach to Danish design solutions in a post-pandemic world, focusing on their belief in openness, collaboration and community.

Stop by the i+s showroom, and explore the emerging design trends that will shape commercial interiors in 2022 and beyond.

The exploratory Trend Futures exhibit, curated by trend forecaster and design entrepreneur Stacy Garcia, will give specifiers a firsthand look at the colors, patterns, textures and technology that are setting the bar for design now and in the years ahead.

Attendees will also get a firsthand look into how these design trends can be expressed through digital artwork in the form of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) which will be featured throughout the showroom. For those new to NFTs, the space will help educate designers on this emerging technology and how it can bridge digital and physical environments.

The inaugural NeoCon Business Innovation Awards will recognize innovation in solutions from an enterpriseoriented perspective. A small jury of journalists from outlets within the greater business sphere will convene on the first day of NeoCon to conduct in-person judging of the Best of NeoCon Innovation winners announced earlier that day.

The group will determine which winners will receive the added honor of the NeoCon Business Innovation designation based on the products’ contribution to a more successful organization and better built environments across verticals—from workplace to healthcare.
