VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers Needed to Get Behind the Wheel for Service
In 2024 volunteers drove 205,343 miles to help older or disabled adults. If you have a current driver's license and a desire to help others, you have what it takes to be an ICS volunteer.
Four of the greatest needs right now are for volunteers willing to transport people or food. These services allow older and disabled adults to continue living independently in their homes, without the need for institutional care.
Contact Alexis Wilson to learn more about service opportunities: (520) 297-6049 or volunteer@icstucson.org
FOOD BOX DELIVERY
Deliver food boxes to older or disabled adults who all live in the same area. Pick up a pre-mapped route and 3-4 food allotments from the ICS Northwest Food Bank.
TRANSPORTATION IN YOUR VEHICLE
Drive clients in your personal vehicle to a grocery store or medical appointment. Transportation drivers can also grocery shop for clients and drop off the food at their homes.
MOBILE MEALS DELIVERY
Deliver daily fresh meals or nutritious frozen meals once a week to adults who are unable to cook for themselves. Meals are specially prepared to follow doctor-prescribed diets. Most drivers volunteer one day a week.
TRANSPORTATION IN AN ICS VEHICLE
Drive one or more clients in the ICS Care-A-Van. Take them to the grocery store or to medical appointments.
GIFTS OF LOVE
Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year's Gifts of Love program. Your generosity in giving time, treasure, and effort has been deeply appreciated. We would like to share a few thank-you notes from those who benefited from this year's program.
Julia said, "It made me tear up (happy tears) opening the gifts for the kids last night! Everything was so thoughtful, and will be so helpful. Mateo will be so excited to open up all of his gifts. It is everything that he loves! The gifts for Julianna will help so much right now! They helped to make sure that they will have a good Christmas, and I can’t express how grateful I am for all the help, thought, and caring that went into the gifts for my kids. I am so thankful"
Christina said, "I want to personally acknowledge how much it meant, especially the thoughtfulness of the gifts. If you don’t hear this enough, thank you! Your efforts don’t go unnoticed, and we are so very grateful."
ICS maintains a 20-member volunteer Board of Directors representing diverse faiths, community and business backgrounds. The Board meets monthly and is responsible for the overall governance of the organization. We are grateful for the leadership this group continues to provide to shape and carry forward our mission to provide pathways leading to more stable and self-sufficient lives.
New ICS Board Members
On July 1, ICS welcomed three new Members to our Board of Directors. We are grateful for their service in providing overall governance of the organization.
