The establishment of CHOP Newborn & Pediatric Care at Grand View Health combines a commitment to pediatric and neonatal care with the expertise of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). As part of CHOP Pediatric Care, a CHOP pediatrician is on-site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at Grand View.

Intenna Systems & Grand View Health The partnership between Intenna and GVH was established through a series of interactions over the years. Then, in mid-2020, GVH facilitated the connection between Intenna and LF Driscoll, the General Contractor for the upcoming Patient Pavilion capital construction project. The project progressed over time, and by early 2022, Intenna secured its role as a subcontractor to LF Driscoll, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration.

Two critical wireless needs were addressed by Intenna’s Distributed Antenna System solutions: cellular connectivity and public safety network (PSN) coverage for emergency responders. For the cellular DAS Intenna deployed the CommScope Era Universal Access Point (UAP) product, which provides robust cellular coverage to both the new Patient Pavilion and the main hospital. For the PSN DAS Intenna deployed the ADRF FiRe Series product to provide seamless connectivity for the Bucks County emergency responder frequencies.

The project began in March 2022, when Intenna & LF Driscoll executed a subcontractor agreement to deploy cellular and PSN DAS networks to cover both the Patient Pavilion and main hospital as part of a combined project. Over the course of about a year, Intenna aligned the installation of both DAS networks with the construction schedule of the Patient Pavilion, demonstrating both precision and efficiency within the larger scope of the capital construction project. The Patient Pavilion, covering 183,550 square feet, and the main hospital, encompassing 342,172 square feet, collectively add up to 525,722 square feet of coverage for both networks.

The activation of AT&T and Verizon services on the network occurred in April 2023, providing a vast improvement in cellular connectivity for patients, staff & visitors. One month later Intenna activated the Public Safety Network DAS, further enhancing the hospital’s ability to handle emergencies by ensuring continuous emergency responder communication in critical situations. The completion of these DAS projects at Grand View Hospital were the result of a successful collaboration between GVH, LF Driscoll and Intenna Systems. Both networks will provide dependable connectivity for clinicians, patients, visitors & emergency responders for years to come. Moreover, Intenna provides ongoing monitoring & maintenance services for the cellular DAS. This commitment to post-installation support ensures that the network remains in optimal health to deliver seamless & dependable cellular connectivity.
