his sense of humour - “Good on ya Cobber” . Peter and Jenny More of Business Management Services, South Africa, were there but, unfortunately, I only met them very briefly just as they were leaving to catch a ’plane. The majority of both exhibitors and visitors were, predictably, from mainland Europe with West Germany having the strongest representation. Luckily, from my point of view, most Europeans have a fair command of the English language, thus communication was not a serious problem. Italian exhibitors included Buie where I spoke to company president Michel Trincard, and Technojacket represented by Mary Wise who also supplied some much appreciated glamour. Among those I met from West Germany were old friend Jurgen Koppenhoffer of Eichner and new acquaintances Gerd Gutt of Minko Gerdtebau GmbH, Jorg Vogler (Zeutschel), Notker MOiler (SMA Data), Ralf Gumnior (MAP), Erich Habla (Saul Microfilm), Konrad Rotermund (Inverdata), Birgit Sterzik (Classen - Papertronics), Oswin Alt (Orga Card) and Eberhard Eunicke of Renker. Klaus Atzbach of Staude Foto Chemie was there to demonstrate how their unique equipment can produce a very high quality full colour fiche. Volker Franssen of Liesegang from Dusseldorf was also there, sharing stand space with L. J. F. Van Oosterom of Karmac (Holland) and Jim Davis from Amber Technology (London). Austria, as host nation, did not seem to be present in strength though I did meet Peter Juriga - Lamut from the Austrian branch of Oce and Otto Gotting of Viennese based Dicopa. To sum up I would like to congratulate I.M.C. on the ^organisation and the choice of venue, which was excellent, except that the cost of lager had a very restricting influence. I have heard that Infomatics ’88 is planned to take place in Hong Kong in December — it sounds very exotic but I think it may be putting a little too much strain on some of our western budgets — at least, I can’t see me being able to attend.
