Dr. Jonathan Hand specializes in infectious diseases at Ochsner Health. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans and completed his internship, residency, and infectious diseases fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. He is currently an associate professor of medicine at The University of Queensland School of Medicine – Ochsner Health. Dr. Hand specializes in the treatment of infections in immunocompromised patients who anticipate or undergo solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as well as patients treated with other immunosuppressive therapies. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Transplantation and has served on the executive committee of the Infectious Diseases community of practice. He is also a member of The Transplantation Society and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Dr. Hand is the Section Head of Transplant Infectious Diseases and the Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Ochsner Medical Center. He also serves as co-chair of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency’s Advisory Board and Associate Medical Director providing guidance on infectious disease-related concerns in organ donors and recipients. Dr. Hand leads clinical trials as Associate Research Medical Director of Infectious Diseases for Ochsner Health. His practice and research interests include infectious complications of transplant donors and recipients, vaccine and antimicrobial clinical trials and antimicrobial stewardship.

Professor Singh is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Respiratory Medicine at the University of Manchester, and Medical Director of the Medicines Evaluation Unit, in Manchester, where he has acted as principal investigator for more than 300 clinical trials.
Professor Singh earned his medical degree from Cambridge University. His research interest is the development of new drugs for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Professor Singh is a member of the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) Science Committee and Chair of the European Respiratory Society airway pharmacology group. He has served as an editor for the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and is currently an editor for the European Respiratory Journal. He has more than 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Professor Wilkinson is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Southampton, Faculty of Medicine; Associate Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; and Honorary Consultant at University Hospitals Southampton, all in the UK. He trained at the University of Cambridge and Barts and the London School of Medicine and completed his PhD at UCL, studying disease mechanisms driving infective exacerbations of COPD with Professor Wisia Wedzicha.
Professor Wilkinson is lead of the Southampton COPD research group, the Respiratory Theme of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Southampton Biomedical Research Centre, and Senior Clinical Lead of the National Respiratory Audit Programme. His research seeks to improve understanding of the mechanisms that drive susceptibility to respiratory infections and exacerbations in patients with chronic lung disease and to develop new vaccines. He has taken these mechanistic discoveries through translation into new treatments for COPD and COVID-19.
Professor Wilkinson is co-founder and Chairman of the health technology company, my mhealth, which is the leading provider of digital therapeutics to the National Health Service in asthma and COPD. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and reviews on the topics of airway diseases, infection, and airway immunology. In 2023 he was appointed as NIHR Senior Investigator in recognition of his contributions to respiratory research.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Join us for this live educational symposium that brings interleukin (IL)33, an emerging therapeutic target in respiratory medicine, to center stage. This program will examine the evolving role of IL-33 as both a driver of inflammation and a regulator of gene expression, highlighting its signaling pathways and contribution to the pathophysiology of chronic respiratory disease and acute infection. Attendees will gain insight into the scientific rationale for targeting IL-33 in therapeutic development, along with the latest updates from ongoing clinical investigations of biologic agents designed to modulate its activity. Our expert panel will share their perspectives through dynamic discussion and real-time engagement with the audience.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This educational activity has been designed to educate pulmonologists, as well as critical care, infectious disease, and emergency medicine clinicians who manage patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or acute respiratory infections.
