Integrated Care Systems (ICSs)

ICSs bring together NHS, local authority and third sector bodies to take on responsibility for the resources and health of an area or 'system'. Their aim is to deliver better, more integrated care for patients. Across England, there will be 42 ICSs.

The new statutory responsibilities given to Integrated Care Systems from April 2022 is likely to be the most significant change in the way in which health and care services are planned, commissioned and delivered.

Priorities for ICSs will be aimed at:

• Whole systems planning and delivery across health and social care

• Developing new ways of working and digital enablement

• Reducing health inequalities

• Supporting the NHS through Covid recovery

Provides new opportunities for Mott MacDonald particularly around population health, digital enablement and service reconfiguration.

Aligned to similar organisational structures across the devolved nations.

Question is how best to achieve transformational change without destabilising system?
