Plans are underway for Convention, World Show
I hope all had a Merry Christmas and welcome to the 2023 New Year. Show season will get underway soon with Mississippi and Texas hosting shows. Check out the show schedule at www.palominohba.com and start planning your show year. World Show information is already online, and entry information will soon be available. You will also notice that Terry Bradshaw Quarter Horses (TBQH) has again raised the ante for the Amateur Halter payback and added an award for the Premier Amateur Halter sex divisions. The “Trail Shootout” will return as some other added money classes will. Plans are for an added AQHA special event class for the ranch riders so look for more information soon. Our 2023 Sponsor Drive is underway and look for information about advertising in the program and sponsor classes soon in your in-box, web page and social media.
The national convention registration information is on the website, I would like to challenge those that are on the fence, think their voice and vote doesn’t get heard, attend the convention to help this association, sit in on committee meetings, attend the social events and visit with friends from other affiliates. Volunteer for committees and get involved with this great association. It takes all of us to keep us going. New for this year will be the Youth awards being presented in March instead of July, the youth will still have their national convention and officer elections in July during the world show, plans are being made to have them on the fairgrounds so more youth can be invited to attend and get involved.
For some more great news, by the time you read this, the new computer software program should be fully functional, and the first new registration certificates will be printed. We have all been patiently waiting for the new software but now it is a reality. We started a technology drive to help with the cost of a new laser printer to print the new certificates, and anything to keep us moving along in this technology driven society. A big thank you to the Palomino Heritage Foundation for helping with the drive. The office will still need a few items and the technology drive is designed to help with the additional expenses. If you would like to donate, there is a link on the website where if you click, it will take you right to where you can help by donating to the Palomino Horse Breeders of America, your organization.
If your membership is due or if you have someone wanting to join, you can do that directly from the website; www.palominohba.com/membership/membership/
Please update your information if something has changed, you do not want to miss any exciting and important information from PHBA. Here is the link to take care of that : www.palominohba.com/membership/address-change-form/ Hope to See Everyone in Tulsa in March
It’s January and for most of us that means cold, snow, mud, and frustratingly short days – the entire month feels like a Monday.
There are a few days sprinkled in, however, like today in Nebraska, where the sun is shining and warm on your face, the horses are napping in the pasture and we are reminded, the hard work we are putting in now will pay off this summer as we enter show and futurity season.
January is a great time to take advantage of PHBA’s registration special. It’s only $60 for yearlings and $80 for 2-year-olds and up for a limited time. Membership rules apply. January is also a great time to renew your memberships to be certain you will have all of your paperwork in order as the first shows of the year approach.
This year is the 40th Anniversary of the Palomino World Show and the Amateur Executive Board has been working on some exciting and fun activities for all of our members. While we are still working out the details, we do wish to entice everyone with the idea of an Open Showmanship event that may include costumes and celebrity judges. Mums the word, but we promise you won’t want to miss this opportunity to show off your creativity, skill in the show pen and the spectators are guaranteed to have a great time. Look for an upcoming announcement with more information.
If you’ve never attended the Palomino World Show or it’s been awhile, I cannot encourage you strongly enough to come to Springfield and show with us! The Palomino World is an incredibly fun World Show with family activities, classes for everyone, a Street Party and hamburger feed, added money and incredible people and horses.
And lastly, the Palomino National Convention will be here before we know it! The PHBA National Convention is central to the governance and survival of PHBA. Rule change proposals are discussed and voted on during this time, strategic planning is done and it is a great place to learn how associations function and meet people passionate about the horse show industry and growth of our “golden family.”
