Helen Beatrix Potter English author Helen Beatrix Potter was a popular and prolific children’s writer.

Potter wrote and illustrated about 28 books, all with animals as characters. The most famous of her stories is The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902), which Potter had originally written for the ailing son of her ex-governess.

Its success inspired more books, including The Tailor of Gloucester (1903), The Tale of Benjamin Bunny (1904), and The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck (1908).

Potter combined her understanding of children, her talents as an artist, and her interests as a naturalist to create books that have won audiences for more than a century.

The original illustrations for all of her works are now featured in the Tate Galleries in London.

Potter was born on July 28, 1866, and she was the child of a genteel upper-middle-class family.

She spent a lonely and restricted childhood in London. This isolation was alleviated only by her summers painting and drawing in the countryside in Scotland and in her beloved Lake District of northwestern England.

Returning to the Lake District as an adult, Potter bought several farms in Sawrey, where she became a sheep farmer. She willed more than 4,000 acres of her land to the National Trust upon her death on Dec. 22, 1943 Her books allow young minds to discover and explore the world of nature through the eyes of wonderful characters that inspire those readers to lead from the front.

When people tell you not to believe in your dreams, and they say “Why? say “Why not?�

Billie Jean King I have watched you grow and develop unique skills, I have heard your whispers of wishing to voice change, I have seen the effort that you have put in to your studies, but most of all I have witnessed you changing from individuals to a caring and inspiring graduating grade year.

The way that you analysed and brainstormed ideas for Pazmun, then how you expressed those thoughts and turned them into a truly forward thinking debate. You investigated, negotiated, communicated and instigated a truly communal event.

How you worked on your French and strived for the best and have now left your benchmark by having achieved the highest results the school has ever seen in your DELF Exams.

You have acted, danced and created works of art that I feel should be seen on a world stage.

Your imaginative presentations that were shared during the Science Fairs and Community Projects have educated not just the young and community but have inspired your teachers to reach out and learn new things.

As I listen to your conversations about your future goals and I smile to myself knowing that through this generation of Instituto La Paz children those dreams and aspirations will come true because you have the knowledge, desire and belief to make them happen.

Congratulations one and all, it has been a pleasure to teach and guide you but most of all thank you for inspiring me.

Good Luck wherever your dreams will take you.

Jake Ali Mathews With summer break finally here, Jake Ali Mathews is looking forward to some relaxing kid time. But his dad has different ideas of what Jake’s summer should look like. And soon enough, Jake, his dad, and his diabolical sister, Alexis, are on their way to Camp Wild Survial, hosted by celebrity wildnerness survivalist, Thunder Banks.

Mini Smoky Bacon Wraps

Copycat Sonic Ocean Water Recipe Ingredients 27 small cocktail franks 9 slices bacon 1⁄3 cup dark brown sugar 1⁄3 cup ketchup

Instructions Set oven to 350°F. Grease a baking sheet.

Cut each bacon slice into thirds.

Wrap each slice around each of the small smokies.

Place in foil-lined baking pan.

Bake for about 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Meanwhile in a small bowl mix together the ketchup with brown sugar to form a thick mixture.

Remove the cocktail wieners from oven and brush about 1 teaspoon of the ketchup/brown sugar mixture over the wiener.

Place back in the oven and bake until the bacon is lightly crisp (do not overcook or the bacon will be too hard!).

Instructions

3 Tablespoons Water 3 Tablespoons White Sugar 1 Teaspoon Coconut Extract 12 Once Cans of Lemon Lime Soda Blue Food Coloring

In a small microwave safe bowl stir water and sugar together. Heat for 30-60 seconds or until sugar is dissolved.

Pour into a pitcher or punch bowl. Stir in soda, coconut extract, and food coloring.

Serve over ice.
