2. Our History

Our Home In 1898, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands was a guest on the Zugerberg. She stayed for five weeks at the Grandhotel Schönfels in the buildings where we house our Montana boarding school students today. At that time, the Zugerberg with its two hotels Schönfels and Felsenegg - was the health resort of the international nobility. Here many guests from Europe recovered, cured ailments, bathed, participated in excursions, relaxed, and explored the surrounding natural beauty of the Zugerberg.

Then in 1925 “Grand Hotel Schönfels” was acquired by Dr Max Husmann to become an international boarding school. The Boarding School was then founded on 3 May 1926 on humanist principles that still guide us today.

• Tuition fees are charged in two instalments at the beginning of each semester • The personal account and deposit are balanced when the student leaves.

Bilingual Elementary School Grades 1 - 4 Boarding Student

Accommodation in a double room, supervision and full board (five meals per day), class instructions for all mandatory subjects, elective subjects according to offer, Study Hall supervision during the school day, use of Media Centre, use of internet and cost for copying (up to CHF 50.-), supervision during study time (four afternoons) during the school week, on campus care during short-term illnesses, participation in the activities programme, use of the sports facilities.

Day Student

Class instructions for all mandatory subjects, elective subjects according to offer, Study Hall supervision during the school day, use of Media Centre, use of internet and cost for copying (up to CHF 50.-), participation in the afternoon activities programme during school weeks. Extra Curricular Fees

Your children are day students but suddenly your schedule is filled by work commitments and meetings around the world. Or you have to travel to a weekend function. Flexi-boarding is a great solution. Weeks or weekends. More information on request.***

Additional: • Saturday Excursions & Winter ski days : 100 – 200.(Obligatory for boarding students up to Grade 10 included) Optional: • October Cultural Trip 8-10 days European capital: 2,000 – 2,500.(All inclusive with plane tickets) • Traditional St Moritz Ski Trip 8-10 days – 2,000 – 2,500.- (All inclusive with Hotel with aqua center, ski passes and extras such as sledging, snow walking, ice skating) • Individual music lessons (any instrument): 3850.– (1925.– semester)

• International School IGCSE Exams (Grade 10, external fee according to subject choices) ca. 500-700.• IB Diploma Exams (Grade 12, external fee according to subject choices) ca. 1,200-1,700.• Internal High School Diploma Fee (Grade 12): 600.• Other exams such as SAT are charged at cost

All prices are stated in Swiss Francs Expenses are invoiced as incurred and comprise the costs for: School books and materials, purchases at the kiosk or nursery, fees for external exams and diplomas, fees for university applications, school trips and excursions, school uniforms, cost for copying (above CHF 50.-), pocket money, taxi transfers to the airport, railway tickets, transport and chaperonage for external medical appointments, administrative costs (e.g. residence permit, insurance), personal expenses (e.g. mobile phone contract), damages and extraordinary costs in accordance with the school rules.
