Why are ITPM holding an OTA Meme Competition?

It’s simple. We want to make an example of Online Trading Academy (OTA) and raise awareness in the Retail Trading industry of how Charlatan Trading Educators operate and how they target vulnerable people to part with their life savings for a pipe dream.

What better way to do it than to berate these scumbags with humour?

At the Institute of Trading and Portfolio Management we have made this our campaign for years and saved Retail Traders collectively on a global basis hundreds of millions of dollars if not billions of dollars in saved losses.

We continue to educate Retail Traders properly and responsibly. At ITPM we only hire former and current Professional Traders from Investment Banks and Hedge Funds and teach real and genuine Professional Trader systematic processes to Retail Traders, so they can take the same approach in their own Brokerage Accounts with no Conflict of Interest. We despise the Charlatans in our industry and do our best to expose them.

What Happened to Online Trading Academy?

Put simply they were found out by the FTC. After operating for 20 years the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) put them under investigation in 2019 and published the results of their investigation on February 12th 2020.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced they are suing Online Trading Academy led by Eyal Schahar (CEO) for pushing unfounded earnings claims to sell “training programs” costing as much as $50,000. THE DETAILS OF THE FTC CASE AGAINST ONLINE TRADING ACADEMY CAN BE FOUND HERE The FTC have now obtained a Restraining Order against Online Trading Academy operating their business.

The FTC have effectively closed them down. Details of the Restraining Order can be found HERE Make sure you read everything in that document. How they constructed the business, the sales pitch, the unfounded claims, the architects of the narrative and how they did it and the details of the total nonsense that these people were selling. It will be one of the most valuable educational resources you will read as a Retail Trader and will save you tens if not hundreds of thousands of Dollars.

At ITPM we know the first step for most Retail Traders is to simply just stop believing the Bullshit and to stop losing money unnecessarily! Then when you are ready to learn properly, ONLY learn from people who have been or are currently real genuine Professional Traders who have actually worked for the top Wall Street firms as Professional Traders.

Why is this an Important Case?

It is important because Online Trading Academy were the largest “Trading Education” Company globally by Sales. They were making approximately $150mln in sales per year and a Net Profit of $40mln-$50mln. They obsessively and psychopathically perfected their pitch to target the financially naïve and took advantage of their naivety for huge financial gain. This case has brought them down and its going to change the way everything works in the Retail Trading Education business. The FTC went after the biggest Charlatans in the Industry. The FTC effectively harpooned the Whale!

The entire Online Trading Academy business model was to target Boomers and Minorities (mostly in the U.S. but also globally). Their “educational programs” were then pitched and wrapped in a lifestyle narrative which blinded naïve “students” into believing they could easily achieve the totally unrealistic financial wealth and income targets claimed by OTA. Their favourite victims were Boomers but they also targeted Minorities with predatory loans to finance their education. The paper of these loans was then sold to a third party thus transferring the loan risk i.e. a subprime referral program. Thousands of these students are now in a position of irrecoverable debt.

The Retail Trading Education industry is still full of Charlatans who purport to be Real Traders. They literally make up 99% of the education space. They pop up from nowhere with no background in Financial Markets and create a fake online back story and narrative. Many of them also create fake track records online. The OTA case is important because more awareness will mean less people will fall for this Bullshit and less money will be lost.

The Online Trading Academy FTC case provides every Retail Trader globally with an educational platform in itself to learn what these scumbags do to lure in their victims so they can avoid them in the future.

Unfortunately, the restitution that the FTC will eventually order Online Trading Academy (OTA) will probably never be paid to customers. The money is probably long gone. The business by now will have probably been gutted for cash and assets and the money sent offshore. Online Trading Academy will just claim bankruptcy.

This is why it is so important to get the word out and spread this story! Help educate people so they don’t fall victim to these types of predators in the future!
