Editor’s Note Welcome! If you don't know me, I’m Kerry, the owner of KB Hair Extensions and I am proud to introduce my first Magazine; A Year-Long Project Finally Revealed!

It's been a year in the making, but I'm thrilled to announce my latest creation. As a full-time worker, business owner, and mum, I juggled everything to bring my secret project to life. My goal was to showcase local businesses and reveal what's trending on social media – the "Instant Trend." So, here it is – my very first magazine!

Just who is KBHAIREXTENSIONS? It feels strange creating a magazine and then talking/promoting myself and my business.

I created this magazine to show others the businesses I believed in and that I trusted, and of course; I believe in my brand!

If you didn’t know by now, I own ‘kbhairextensions’ a multi-award winning business and brand, specialising in hair extensions in the salon and online too.

If you have ever thought about hair extensions, but also dreaded getting them due to the taboo surrounding them then you have found the right person.

Hair Extensions should help promote natural hair growth, encouraging your own hair to grow, whilst protecting it.

ICY LDN: ITS COLD OUTSIDE BUT THIS BRAND IS ON FIRE The U.K. fashion industry is currently worth £26 billion, making it the UK's largest creative industry. You could say it’s a hard industry to dive into, Not for boss babe Demi Barnes who shows us how it’s done with her brand; ICY LDN. What has been the biggest learning curve since launching the business?

I would say sourcing a good supplier is definitely the hardest part. I have been working with two manufacturers since the start but been through samples from 15 different suppliers in different locations. I have a really good relationship with one in particular who always goes above and beyond to deliver my designs.

The clothing industry is a very competitive industry, What sets you apart from other clothing brands?

The cotton range in particular can be dressed up or down, some of the girls use it as lounge/yoga wear whilst others style the crop tops over shirts as office wear. It can be worn anyway and I love that you can make it your own. Unlike other brands I design for myself rather than following trends. Everything you see is clothing designed because its something i’ve want

As a new brand we're super interested to find out who’s involved in the brand and what roles do they play?

I currently don’t have any employees but I wouldn’t be where I am now without all the girls who help me with content. Special mentions too @officialzaraanne and @charley_style for being on this journey from the start and also to my mum also for being my postie whenever I’m working my other full time job. I also really value my customers and opinions, my messages are always open!

We are all here for body positivity, how do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?

I think comfort should be fashionable and you should always be comfortable in what you wear but also confident! I’d like to think the range is suited for anyone and you can make it your own.

Whats the most important thing to you and your business?

I really value my manufacturers and the time they spend in creating mock ups and samples, they see my dream and work with me to make it a reality. The head of my team is called Shally, I try be as transparent as possible about the supply chain as this is a really important thing for me. I would never want my clothes to come from factories where the workers are being exploited or underpaid Created during a global pandemic, ICY LDN has gone from strength to strength. With an ever growing social following the brands clothing range is constantly expanding.

Talk us through an average day in your life…

I wake up every day between 5:30-6am when I work from home and 5am when I am commuting to the office. I also work for Lipsy in their head office in London on the buying team. I finish work for Lipsy around 4:30 and commute back home, once I’m home I sort our ICY orders, continue designing and planning and catch up with my manuafacturers normally to make any amendments and changes on mock ups they may have done. I often have late zoom calls around 2am with my manufacturers too when I am trying to get stock in quickly.

We now know how busy you are so we won't keep you, but if you had to pick, what is your favourite piece from the collection so far?

My favourite piece is actually releasing next month and its part of the menswear range, however from the stock that’s already live Would have to say the ICY Fleece. Its velvet inside and adjustable so you can wear it cropped or oversized. Its my bestseller at the moment! We have also just released THE DIAMOND COLLECTION PHASE I. This collection will grow over the next few weeks ut currently consists of embellished cotton crop tops. We will be dropping joggers and sets very soon as part of PHASE II. It's been great finding out more about ICY LDN, can you tell us what’s next for the business?

Launching menswear has been a work in progress for a LONG time. All of my current pieces currently represent me as a person, I design for myself hoping everyone will love it just as much as I do. Menswear is a lot more challenging but its been really fun, we’ve been through so many samples and ive made hundreds of amendments but we are finally getting there!

We talked to Ellie Wilson about how we can enhance not only our physical appearance, but also feel better about ourselves from the inside out.

What does it mean TO BE MNDFL?

Being mindful means living in the present moment, and that's where our latest health and body feature, 'MNDFL', comes in. It's all about helping you stay in the now!

MNDFL pronounced 'Mindful' is the brainchild from online coach Ellie Wilson.

Here Ellie tells us about her journey; "In January 2020, I took the first steps and invested into getting myself a coach for fitness / nutrition. By January 2020, I was struggling hard with a binge eating disorder and also depression. I honestly didn’t know what to do to get myself out of this rut and back feeling like myself again. You know, when you’ve tried everything to get yourself feeling alive again, it gets to a point where you feel like these feeling won't ever stop.

So I Invested into a coach myself, made so much progress and I still to this day, haven't binged, which brings it to being 15 months binge free. My life has changed purely because I took those initial steps. I get that.

It can be daunting and intimidating reaching out but because I took that jump and asked for help, this is when my true healing really happened. I have learnt so much since starting my own journey, I decided to invest into a nutrition qualification as well as doing hours upon hours, of research.

What sets you apart from other online coaching brands?

Coaching and anything to do with the fitness industry is a tough place to get into, it is a very saturated market. It seems like the thing to do now, say you are a coach and off you go. But this isn’t how it should be done. Coaching should come from a place of care and understanding. Working with clients on a personal and intimate level. As someone that has struggled for years with yo-yo dieting, underrating, overeating, eating disorders, over training etc, I get it. I get you. When you pick a coach, you need to find someone who can relate to you and that’s how I want my clients to feel when working with me.

I have been in that starting place, that many are in right now. In my opinion, mindset is the biggest factor when it comes to change, hence why I place so much emphasise upon it. Change takes place in the mind and the physical results a bi-product and for me, this is why I feel my coaching is different. It is about falling in love with you and learning about your body on the way to ensure the change is long term.

How do you want others to feel when signing up to MNDFL? I want my clients to feel empowered and ready to go. I want them to start with a stride in their step as they mean to go on. I want my clients to be able to feel they have taken this initial step just as they mean to go on. I want my clients to feel like they have my whole attention because they really do and I only want to see them succeed.

Tell us a story about you that not a lot of people know about.

I was actually a National Gymnast and was a gymnast from the age of 3 until I was 15 and made it to the British Finals at the age of 10.

I think this is where my competitive and perfectionist traits stem from, which isn’t a bad thing I suppose. It was an intense sport but I loved every single moment of it. I was in a team and didn’t compete alone, but this sense of community has made me want a team MNDFL.. to be filled with girls / women all with the same passion, to become the best versions of themselves.

What or who inspired you to become an online coach and why?

Never did I think I’d be an online coach. Never did I think I’d be coaching Mum’s, Footballers, those with eating disorders etc. This is amazing and exactly how I wanted it to turn out. Just to be able to make an impact of someone life such as a Mum, is an incredible feeling. If they can change how they feel / look, this will have a rewarding impact the whole family.

What is a favourite piece off advice that you wish you had heard sooner?

Appreciate your pain and suffering

DON'T RUN FROM YOUR CHALLENGES If it weren't for them you wouldn't be able to find peace and wouldn't even know what joy was. This is because pain and suffering and peace and happiness are two sides of the same coin. Without one, there wouldn't be the other.

Everything in life has an opposite correlation with something else.

This is simply a truth about the way that the world works. The sooner you come to realize this the sooner you'll discover the true way to finding peace. To rest in peace, you must be able to live not just with the good but with the bad as well.

You don't need to erase the challenges in your life to find peace and happiness- in fact, you couldn't even if you tried- you simply need to learn how to live with those challenges and transform them.

How much has social media played a role in the success of your brand?

Social media has been my main point of contact with MNDFL. Instagram is how I began MNDFL as it is the best way to connect with clients but also people on the same wavelength as me. You can meet some amazing people through social media however it does have its cons for sure. I took some time off instagram last year as I feel it can be a detrimental place for mental wellbeing, so a big tip is to not get so caught up in what others are doing and just stay in your own lane.

What’s next for the business?

As you may have seen already, there may be a clothing range in sight... I want MNDFL to be focused upon every element of us. I want my clients to feel good about the foods they eat, the way they move but also the things they wear.

I want to MNDFL clothing to be suitable to all shapes and sizes. I want you to be able to wear a hoodie and feel so comfortable but also content within yourself.

The thing which makes it even better, I am not going this clothing range alone, I am doing it with one of my best friends, who is one of my clients and has been on her own special journey. We’ve both struggled with food, finding clothes which makes us feel good, and everything in between.

The love & passion which will be put into this going to be big and I really hope you all feel the same in it as we do.

I have always got some kind of idea going around in my head, but I need to tell myself to just take it easy. I would absolutely love to create a podcast about mental health, fitness, the typical warped female society / expectations, nutrition and lots more.

ELLIE'S TOP TIPS FOR BECOMING MORE MNDFL Ellie shares words of wisdom from her own experience as an online coach.

GRATITUDE Being grateful has massively changed my life. It stops me from constantly wishing for what I don't have, wishing to become someone I’m not and just really tuning in to what I DO have. Just think of 3 things daily and I promise you, you’ll see..

FOCUS ON THE NOW It can be incredibly easy to be consumed by what is going on around us, ahead of us, behind us, we often forget what is going on right now. To me, I have realised there is no point in dwelling upon something which hasn’t happened yet but at the same time, dwelling on something which has been and gone. All we have is now, and its out job to pull the most from it

something which I love and should do more of. Getting everything going on the mind, out on paper can really benefit your mentality. Just open up to your journal about how your feeling will have the biggest impact on your mental clarity. A clearer mind = a clearer life.

Do not be ashamed of it, I was ashamed of my story for so long despite it being a huge part of my life but also a huge part of me. I felt like I couldn’t let anyone find out because of the amount of utter shame I felt. As soon as I began to open up, it was a weight from my chest which had been lifted. It’s easy to get caught up in how we should be and how we should act, our purest selves tend to get forgotten and are individualities become transparent.

We need to take out story and spin it round and to show people how special you are.

ASWEET SMELLING FRAGRANCE FOR A SWEET PRICE, WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE? We met up with the newest and sweetest fragrance brand, Sienna Scents to find out why their perfume is not to be missed.

Tell us about the journey that lead you to launching Sienna scents?

I was scrolling through marketplace one morning avoiding my alarm and came across a post about selling FM perfumes and other products. I’d bought FM perfume before so I knew that it was a great product and saves so much money. I thought what’s the harm in investigating and had a chat with Emma who put the post up. Next thing I knew I was signed up and ready to create my own brand!

What has been the biggest learning curve since launching your own business?

That just because you are selling a product, doesn’t mean all of your social posts have to be about the product! I’ve learnt that people will buy from people, therefore I needed to post more about me and who I am to engage with people before they think about buying my products.

Why sienna scents? How did you choose the name for your brand?

I wanted something that related to perfume and something that rolled off the tongue easily. I love the name Sienna, so it seemed perfect to me. Some people get confused and think my name is Sienna...it’s actually Emily!

What or who inspired you to become your own boss?

Me! I thought that creating my own brand, choosing a colour theme and designing a logo etc would be really exciting and something that I’d enjoy doing. I also signed up at the same time the UK went into their first lockdown so I had time on my hands to experiment with colours and logo ideas, and do some market research.

Talk us through an average day in your life…

I’m usually up around 6am to walk my two rescue dogs who are my absolute joy in life, anyone who follows me on insta will know that I adore my dogs! Once they’ve been out I’ll grab a coffee and breakfast and use that time to do some engaging on insta e.g. liking and commenting on pictures, reaching out to new followers etc.

I tend to get my FM deliveries mid morning, so once I’m home from my full time job I will look into adding something to my insta stories and package up any orders i have ready to go to the post office the next day! The evenings I tend to be on insta and just having a browse and engaging again. I love discovering new small businesses to support. I really appreciate any comments I get so I love giving them out to make people smile - I’m all about the positivity!

How much has social media played a role in the success of your brand?

100% social media has been everything for Sienna Scents! A small section of orders have come through word of mouth, but I’d say 90% of awareness and orders is from social media! It’s a fantastic platform when used properly (I.e. not in a negative way!) to spread awareness and engage with your target audience.

What inspired you to become a social media influencer/traveler, sharing your life daily & adventures with the world?

- I have always posted to Instagram since I was in high school! I see it as a platform where I can be creative & express myself how I want to. Only in the past 18 months or so have I begun to take it seriously and my hard work has actually started to pay off. When brands started to reach out to me, event invites came through & some incredible opportunities (only at the very beginning) I thought, this is what I want & I can really change my life here... I actually work full time in marketing (many people are shocked when they find out I manage both) It takes some serious commitment and organisational skills - my weekends are pretty much devoted to filming/editing my content for the week. I love sharing my life, working with brands I only ever dreamt of & seeing the world... I feel like the two categories combine perfectly.

How do you decide which destinations to visit and feature on your social media platforms?

- It is very much spur of the moment! My long-term partner works for Intrepid Travel and is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to travel and the most interesting places to go etc... so he has lots of input in our decisions. My bucket list of destinations is endless; I would set off tomorrow and travel to every corner of the globe if I could!

How do you balance experiencing the moment versus capturing the perfect photo or video for your followers?

- This is a good question...

Whenever I visit a new place I like to take the surroundings in - my brain is automatically in content mode (figuring the best spot for a photo/video) and unfortunately I don't think that will ever change. I will then revisit the spot at the best time of day (sunrise/sunset, the most quiet time if the area is touristic) to ensure I get the best content!

But always be in the moment... take it in.

auren has been my social media influence for a few years now. Seeing all the amazing destinations she visits has inspired me to enjoy life more and get out there!

I first met Lauren back in 2013/14 when I launched my business and begged her to be a model for my brand. Lauren wasn't a model at the time, but roll on ten years later and here she is, modelling the opportunues she has taken all over the world and working with high end brands on her social media platforms.

Can you share a particularly memorable travel experience that you've shared on social media?

What made it stand out?

-I adore all of my Jordan content - it is definitely not a place most people will go too. My family & friends were a little shocked when I told them we had book flights there. The country was amazing, the people were so lovely & kind and it was the most picturesque country I have ever been to. One of my all-time favorite pictures is in the Wadi Rum Desert (picture above) - I joked in my caption about 'Waking up on Mars' but it really does look like it!

When exploring different countries how do you look so great? Do you struggle with washing your hair, styling and make up?

-I am definitely not your usual type of traveller - I still like to dress well & look good. When it comes to hair & makeup whilst travelling I definitely go for the more natural approach, a slick-back bun or heatless curls is always my go-to and natural makeup. I like to keep it simple with a good eyebrow gel, eyelash curler and mascara, lots of SPF & I will always mix in facial tanning drops to give an effortless golden glow!

‘We spent 2 nights in the Wadi Rum Desert, Jordan - we had no mobile data connection so it was the ideal place to disconnect with the world and reset/refresh.’

How do you deal with the potential negative effects of social media, such as overtourism or unrealistic travel expectations?

-I tend to prefer travelling 'off the beaten track' purely for this reason... It is quite saddening when you arrive at a landmark/tourist attraction and it is ridden with people queuing to take a photo in the same spot. The reel I uploaded at the Petra viewpoint actually had hundreds of people below - which you cannot see.

Remember, not everything you see on socials is real.

How important is authenticity in your social media presence, and how do you ensure that your content remains genuine?

Can you share some tips for capturing stunning travel photos or creating compelling travel videos for social media?

-Growing an organic following is super important to me. I believe social media has really changed for the better within the last year with no filters which portray a specific image to females & males. I am me and that will never change, I want to start showing more 'real life' content & talking stories but it is hard to juggle a full-time job & socials!

-I capture my content with my IPhone 12 Pro Max, which I love. I use the Tezza app and CapCut on my Mac to edit my content. My boyfriend recently got a new camera which we took to Jordan - the quality is simply stunning. I have uploaded some of these on my IG page.

How important do you feel social media is when looking up travelling destinations?

-I will always go straight to TikTok to look up itineraries and tips. TikTok is the new Google! I use it for searching the best restaurants, secret locations & general information.

What are you manifesting for 2024?

-Happiness & health for all my family & friends and my most successful & productive year yet. I am going into 2024 with a business, motivated mindset... watch this space!

THE ONE TO LOOK OUT FOR In 2021, Amelia took the leap of faith and moved her life to become a TikTok sensation. Little did she know, two years later she would be gracing the pages of high-end brand modeling campaigns, including ‘Boux Avenue’ and many more. We sat down with Amelia to discuss her journey and what lies ahead.

How did you begin your modeling journey? Did you face any initial challenges?

My early exposure to the modeling world was unexpected. Lisa Visser, a talented fine art photographer I frequently shot with, received the prestigious UK BPPA Photographer of the Year award in 2008. This recognition led to my discovery by Grace and Galor, one of the UK's top agencies, when I was just five years old.

I took a break from modelling in my teenage years to focus on school, but i got scouted by Boss Models when i was 20 and then recently signed with Bare Face Models in Dubai.

What are the key qualities that you believe a successful model should possess?

Although to some it may sound generic, being yourself is such an important factor as it can make you stand out from the rest. The modeling industry can be competitive and demanding. A positive attitude and resilience in the face of rejection or criticism are important for maintaining a successful career. And, of course like most jobs being professional , punctual are a must in the industry.

The modeling industry is notorious for its emphasis on physical appearance. How do you maintain a healthy mindset and body image amidst societal pressures?

Thankfully, the modeling industry has evolved significantly, becoming considerably more diverse and inclusive than it once was, embracing a wide range of body shapes and sizes.

In a world saturated with photoshopped images and extensive retouching, resisting the urge to compare oneself to unattainable standards remains a constant battle. However, my approach is to set realistic goals and stay true to myself. There's a prevailing misconception that models are compelled to engage in calorie counting and daily weigh-ins. However, as we step into 2023, the industry's narrative has evolved, championing a more health-centric path to achieving a realistic appearance.

Can you share any memorable experiences or achievements that have shaped your modeling career so far?

One standout accomplishment that comes to mind is landing the cover of the New York editorial magazine 'Chicle Magazine.' While my usual focus revolves around ecommerce shoots, this editorial opportunity was a refreshing departure from the norm. It was a truly enjoyable experience and a milestone I'll cherish.

What steps have you taken to build a diverse and versatile portfolio? Are there any particular styles or projects you are eager to explore?

Collaborating with a variety of different photographers is crucial . Each photographer brings their own unique style and perspective , which has enabled me to diversify my portfolio. I am eager to start exploring a more editorial side of modeling.

How do you prepare for castings or auditions? Do you have any rituals or strategies to boost your confidence?

To prepare for a casting I always try to get a good night's sleep, followed by a healthy breakfast and lots of water , this is so important ! My outfit for the day is carefully chosen to be body-hugging, mostly in black, and I opt for minimal makeup with my natural hair, all in an effort to highlight my innate features.

In an industry known for its intense competition, how do you handle rejection and maintain a positive attitude?

Rejection in the modeling industry can be emotionally challenging and sometimes shake your self-confidence. However, with experience, I've come to appreciate that it's rarely a personal verdict. It's often more about not precisely matching the specific look or requirement they seek at a given moment. This insight has been a pivotal factor in my ability to maintain confidence and resilience.

What advice would you give to other aspiring models who are just starting their journey?

‘Rejection in the modeling industry can be emotionally challenging’

Undoubtedly, putting yourself out there is key. Start by having high-quality, professional digitals taken and share them with as many agencies as possible. It's crucial to understand that not every agency will be the right fit for you, so don't fear rejection. In today's social mediadriven world, agencies often scout for talent online, so building a strong portfolio on platforms like social media is an excellent way to increase your visibility.

However, if you're scouted, it's important to conduct thorough research on the agency.

A reputable and established agency will never ask you to pay upfront costs."

You started off on TikTok before modelling full time, was there any certain pressures you felt when you started on your TikTok journey?

Initially, when I ventured into TikTok, it was primarily for entertainment and as a distraction during the lockdown. It was only when a handful of my videos gained substantial attention that I began to fathom its potential as a career. The transition was remarkably swift, with brands reaching out overnight and a social media agency recognizing my potential. However, as the viewership of my videos expanded, so did the volume of criticism and unsolicited opinions. At first, it was undoubtedly disheartening to encounter hurtful comments, but over time, I came to realize that such negativity often emanates from those who may be envious or simply seeking an outlet for their own frustrations.

How do you feel about social media, has it helped you on your journey?

Social media kickstarted my journey into modeling, and I'm truly grateful for that. Although I still use social media for work, I've dialed it back a bit to focus on other ventures. It's an awesome way to be creative and let your personality shine, so I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to express themselves and explore their passions.

Tell us something not many people know about you? (It can be anything!)

Something not a lot of people know about me is , as much as i enjoy being infront of the camera , I also like being behind the camera taking a step back and taking a creative directing role of a shoot . I do this a lot for ‘elevation’ , a clothing brand I'm invested in. I think being both sides has really helped me with this role as ive been more understanding on the needs for both sides to create a successful shoot .

What is your go to hair style, and make up look?

For sure i love a 90s bouncy blowdry ! Tina from Holloway hair never fails to amaze me with this and i would get it done every week if i could ! Makeup wise i never really switch it up i always keep with a natural glam nothing to heavy , just something that enhances my natural features.

Lastly, thank you for speaking with us, lets peek into the future - whats on your mind for 2024 and why?

2023 has been such an amazing year with many highs and lows but has really taught me many lessons . But for 2024 i would love to carry on modeling in new countries and sign to other agencies abroad , and definitely be the face of a campaign… !

With her passion for creativity, attention to detail, and determination, she has built a successful event management and wedding planning services business. In this exclusive interview, Jennifer shares her journey as a female entrepreneur, the challenges she faced, and her vision for the future.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what inspired you to start 'Spicy Pumpkin'?

After almost 20 years in the industry and getting every sprinkle of experience I possibly could internationally, I thought to myself "what next?". I have always had the burning desire inside me to do my own thing after working with many incredible women who started from nothing or went out on their own and I just had a "why not?" moment after my son was born - hence my 2nd baby 'Spicy Pumpkin' was born!

What sets 'Spicy Pumpkin' apart from other event management and wedding planning services?

With the experience I had in Dubai - I was blessed enough to work with over 60 different nationalities which is a lot of experience and education in how the difference in these nationalities like to organise, plan and have their event executed.

This, for me, sets Spicy Pumpkin apart because we are able to fill our clients with confidence from drawing on previous experiences and my personal suggestions tailored to them goes a long way.

As a female entrepreneur in a predominantly male-dominated industry, what challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them?

I feel like - only sometimes - I am underestimated being a female but isn't that the fun? You just need prove them wrong. I was told by an old boss of mine that silence is your success and that could not be truer. Give your passion and your work 110% and success will come. Whenever I faced challenges - or failure - I embraced it because that is how you learn. I never stop learning.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of running 'Spicy Pumpkin'?

I get to be my own boss and I get to choose the work I really want to do. I also love chatting to young professionals who aspire to be in event management and have their own success. I really love to be there as a mentor as I didn't have that until I was 24 years old so I really enjoy giving back and passing on my knowledge.

Can you share some advice for aspiring female entrepreneurs who want to venture into event management or wedding planning?

There are most certainly some bottom line characteristics you must embody and enjoy doing: meticulous attention to detail, a people person, creative and a problem solver. With these ingredients, you can certainly take on event management or wedding planning. It's all about building a portfolio and networking.

When I was in my 20s, I went to every event, got myself into any wedding and event planner seminar, would talk to any event or wedding planner that would hear me out and I built my career on zero university degrees. It's an old cliché but if I can do it, anyone can. I just believed in myself and manifested my career dreams. I would love anyone reading this to reach out to me if they wanted to talk or get some advice specific to them.

Have you noticed any emerging trends or changes in the event planning industry, particularly with regards to weddings?

There are quite a few so I'll choose my top 3! Celebrant services are very popular. This is where the couple would get married with 2 witnesses to complete "the legal part" and then have a friend perform their ceremony on the wedding day, which I actually really love as it's such an honour to do that for a friend.

Weekend weddings are huge too - one day isn't enough so why not make it a mini holiday for everyone and do 2 days?! I see that more in America but it's slowly moving over to Britain.

My favourite has to be candid photography and docustyle wedding videography...very cool. I'm not sure necessarily timeless but we are in a generation who loves a trend so I say embrace it!

How do you balance your personal and professional life as a business owner?

I must admit, I didn't do this in my 20s. I was a workaholic and it came at a price. I had little to no social life in the first 2 years of my 30s. However, I made an effort that when I shut my laptop at night, I recharged and focused on things that bought me joy outside of my job. If you're happier and take time to look after yourself in your personal life, this will drip into your professional life without a doubt. It's all about time management you must make your "you time" a priority.

What is your vision for the future of 'Spicy Pumpkin'? Any exciting plans or projects in the pipeline?

I genuinely want to be humbly successful. I really would love to expand a bit further and employ more pumpkins! I love the fact that young professionals can reach out to me on many platforms and I'll always give my time to people who want advice - or even experience - as that goes a long way. I would also love to reach and travel to different countries, I have been lucky enough to organise and run events in many places such as Europe, America and the Middle East - maybe Asia next?!

‘Capturing moments we want to remember, forever’ Editors note; Photography has always been my passion. I'm one of those people who believe in capturing moments so they last forever. That's why I'm excited to introduce you to our top pick photographer, Hayley Wheatland. Keep an eye out for her because she's definitely a photographer to watch out for in 2024! :Growing up in a creative family, I remember being asked if I was, the answer was always no.. I’ve never considered myself particularly artistic, my Dad, an incredible well known Fine Artist and my eldest Sister who is too an artist, graphic designer & now recently a jewellery designer & maker too, I never in a million years thought I’d take a shine to photography, which is an art in itself.

I picked up my first professional camera nearly 5 years ago, and I haven’t put it down since... I love photography so much, the buzz, the passion the enjoyment of creating moments that last forever and making my clients happy.

Having a young family myself, I know how important it is to capture every last minute.. my children not so much… think I may have overdone the picture taking a tad!

Adapting my style to a natural & candid approach was the only way, and I’m all for it, this way clients feel at ease and the little ones haven’t got a clue, we’re just having a lovely time” - Hayley

Thank you for joining us today, Hayley. We're excited to learn more about your journey as a photographer and why you're considered the photographer to watch in 2024. Let's jump right into it!

How did you first get into photography, and what inspired you to pursue it as a career?

Photography has been in my family for years and most of us have an artistic flare. I bought my first camera 5 years ago and was addicted instantly, taking pictures gave me a real buzz - the real tipping point for me though was when I was pregnant with my first daughter, I took her newborn pictures and it all went from there, I started offering newborn shoots to my friends to help them save some money and i started to follow many photographers - I was inspired and my journey began…

Can you tell us about your style as a photographer? What sets you apart from others in the industry?

Shadowing a professional photographer and following many established photographers allowed me to realise what I liked and what I didn’t like, and from there I established my own style.

What subjects or themes do you most enjoy capturing through your lens, and why?

Specific subjects and themes is not something I focus on, what’s important to me, and what I enjoy capturing through my lens is people at their purest, natural candid photography that just flows.

In your opinion, what makes a photograph truly memorable and impactful?

A memorable photo is one that shows contentment, happiness doesn’t always mean a smile - they say a picture tells a thousand words and I believe that this is true, but can only have that impact if people feel totally comfortable.

As we look ahead to 2024, what do you hope to achieve in your career as a photographer?

My focus over the next year is to keep busy, keep learning and to keep building my portfolio - I love doing this and I can’t wait to see what the year brings.

Social media has become a powerful platform for photographers to showcase their work. How do you utilize social media to connect with your audience and promote your brand?

Social media is powerful…. And I’m grateful for all the followers I get - to be honest, it’s hard work keeping people engaged, a full time job in fact, but one that I enjoy. I post pictures that make me feel proud regularly and keep on top of messages, people want instant replies and information and I think it’s important to provide that as best I can.

Tell us something about you that not a lot of people know about an might be surprised to hear. ’m a mum of 3 girls and became a mum of 3 over 17 months, I found out I was having twins when my eldest was 9 months - it’s been quite a journey and it’s safe to say I have my hands full!

What social media platform has helped you and your business and why, Instagram is my go to, it’s where I got a lot of inspiration and it’s the platform that I engage with the most.
