The school library holds a collection of fiction and non-fiction resources in a variety of languages, formats, genres, and levels. The online catalogue is accessible via Destiny Discover and physical books are available in two locations.

CHALET LIBRARY (FOUNDATION STAGE TO YEAR 1)

Located on the first floor of the Chalet, the Chalet Library has English and French fiction and non-fiction books for pupils aged 3-8 Year 1 to 2 pupils visit the library weekly under the supervision of the school librarian Chalet Library materials are available for FS classroom use .

MAIN LIBRARY (YEARS 2 TO 13)

The Main Library is accessed from the ground floor of the main building . Pupils in the Upper Junior, Middle, and Senior Schools may borrow library materials throughout the school day and may use the library space for study, work, and reading

The St George’s library website (www sgislibrary ch) Includes hyperlinks to licensed and open access digital resources for pupils Subscriptions to electronic databases such as Encyclopedia Britannica Schools, OverDrive, JSTOR, and Gale Schools provide pupils with a robust collection of resources for research and recreational reading . The library offers a wide range of print and digital periodicals in English and French E-readers and headphones may be borrowed from the library during school hours Please contact the school librarian with any questions about the library, the library website, or the library programme

Lockers

All pupils in the Middle/Senior School have two lockers, one for books and files and another in the changing rooms for sports kits.

Pupils are advised to keep their locker locked with a padlock which will be supplied by the school – the school will not take responsibility for any losses . All valuables should be handed in to the school office for safe keeping .

Mobile Phones

The school recognises the value of electronic devices and encourages their use for educational purposes not for social use during the school day.

If a pupil needs to make an emergency call home, they can visit the school office where this will be facilitated .

• The school cannot take responsibility for the misuse of mobile phones

• Parents are wholly responsible for any charges incurred .

All pupils are expected to follow the rules, as per the Whole School Behaviour for Learning Policy and the BYOD and Use of Technology Policy Mobile phones are not permitted during the day, 8 .00am to 3 .50pm .
