Inspira Medical Center Elmer has been named one of America’s Best Hospitals by the Women’s Choice Award® in 2020 for Obstetrics and Orthopedics. This is the third award for each service and signifies that Inspira is one of the top health care providers in the country for these specialties.

The methodology for the America’s Best Hospitals designation combines national accreditations, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results, and hospital outcome scores with primary research about women’s health care preferences. It recognizes excellence in patient services based on robust criteria that consider patient satisfaction and clinical excellence. Additionally, each service line award has specific supplementary criteria “We are extremely proud that Inspira Elmer’s Obstetrics and Orthopedics departments continue to be nationally recognized as exceptional places to receive great care,” said John DiAngelo, president and CEO. “It is because of the dedication and passion of our staff that we have now earned a total of six Women’s Choice Awards.”

Inspira Cuts Ribbon on Cancer Center in Mullica Hill Inspira cut the ribbon on its new leading-edge cancer center in Mullica Hill on January 24. The cancer center brings together medical, radiation and surgical oncologists, along with a full complement of support services.

The design of the new cancer center included recommendations from cancer patients and their loved ones. Their input was invited early in the process so it could be incorporated during the design phase.

“To ensure that we provide the best possible experience, we asked patients, “What would you like to see in our new cancer center?” said John DiAngelo, president & CEO. “We then worked a number of their recommendations into the design. Our goal

is to make the cancer journey as easy and comfortable as possible for our patients and their families.”

Following the recommendations of patients, the new center offers multiple settings for receiving infusion therapy. Traditional private treatment bays, extra quiet private treatment rooms and a large shared treatment space are all available. A long table, affectionately referred to as the farm table, will promote socialization and comradery among patients and their caregivers who see each other regularly as their treatment schedules overlap. Even small details, such as the height of USB ports and where sinks should be located, were guided by recommendations from patients.

A Dozen Vineland Maternity Nurses Give Birth Within Year From March through New Year’s Eve in 2019, 12 maternity nurses from Inspira Medical Center Vineland became moms themselves—nine of them for the first time!

The group gathered at the hospital on Saturday, February 15 for a media event. “Getting everyone together is amazing,” Joanna Branin, R.N., who gave birth to Piper two months ago, shared with a reporter from The Press of Atlantic City newspaper. “We’re like family, so we hang out outside of work, and we’ve gotten together with the babies a lot.”

National Wear Red Day® Celebrated at Inspira on February 7 Inspira employees supported Women’s Heart Health by wearing red on National Wear Red Day® on February 7. Inspira Joins Food Banks, Schools to Build Healthier Communities in South Jersey Inspira has also teamed up with the Food Bank of South Jersey and the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to open food farmacies at its health centers in Bridgeton and Woodbury.

The premise is simple: good health starts with great food.

Inspira staff will identify patients who face food insecurity and will connect them with one of the two food farmacies. There, patients will meet with an Inspira registered dietitian and

Inspira is partnering with the Food Bank of South Jersey, Community FoodBank of New Jersey, the Gloria Sabater Elementary School and Casimer Dallago Early Childhood Center in Vineland, the Millville Child Family Center, and the Woodbury Junior-Senior High School to provide monthly school-based food pantries. The goal is to provide families who are food insecure with a month's worth of nutritious food and access to nutrition counseling at a convenient location, the local school that their children attend. Inspira will also present assemblies at the schools to promote wellness and teach fun ways for students to add physical activity to their daily routines. receive nutritious food that is appropriate for any medical conditions they might have. Regularly scheduled meetings with the dietitian will be arranged and nutritious food will be provided at each meeting for up to one year.

Vineland Welcomes Story Storks Program On February 10, Inspira celebrated the kick-off of Story Storks at the Mother & Baby Unit in Vineland. This new program—funded by the Employee Giving Campaign’s employee-identified project grants—focuses on creating future readers, starting at birth.

Regularly sharing books is one of the best things you can do to prepare your baby for understanding, speaking, and reading your native language. Story Storks provides parents of newborns with the tools and strategies needed to promote infant literacy development.

Inspira Dances for Healthy Hearts

Inspira celebrated Heart Health Awareness Month during its Spirit of Women Day of Dance on February 15 at the Deptford Mall.

The community enjoyed this free event which featured performances by local dance troupes, the Philadelphia Mummers, free health screenings, giveaways and more. Maintain Don’t Gain Winner Announced Bryan Rodriguez, transporter, Inspira Vineland, was randomly chosen as the grand prize winner of the Maintain Don’t Gain Challenge. A winner from each location was also chosen to win $30 in Living the Promise points. The goal of the Maintain Don’t Gain Challenge is to support healthy habits during the holiday season. More than 100 employees enrolled in the challenge and those that weighed out lost an average of 3.5 pounds!
