Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill Is Now Open!

The new hospital opened at 7 a.m. on Sunday, December 15. In total, 59 patients were transferred from Inspira Woodbury to Inspira Mullica Hill. Hundreds of employees, physicians, volunteers and vendors were on hand to ensure a safe and smooth transition. We welcomed our first patients to Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill at approximately 8:40 a.m.

Professional Achievements Paul Lambrecht, vice president, Quality and Patient Safety, and 'Katy Perez, coordinator & data analyst, Quality and Patient Safety, presented at the 2019 Press Ganey National Client Conference in Orlando in November. Their presentation topic was “Developing and Implementing a Safety Management System Across a Health System.”

This presentation illustrated how Inspira instilled a safety culture that has strengthened its quality and safety management systems and workforce engagement. Session attendees also learned how Inspira implemented its High Reliability transformation across the network.

Wendy Rosen, M.S.N., RN-C, nurse manager, Maternity, Inspira Vineland, was recognized with the Organization of Nurse Leaders of New Jersey Nurse Leader Award for her leadership, guidance and service to the hospital and the nursing profession. Awards were presented during the Annual Holiday Meeting and Awards Brunch, “Celebrating Nursing Leadership in New Jersey,” on December 6 at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township.

March of Dimes Honors Six Inspira Nurses Six Inspira nurses were honored at the recent March of Dimes NJ Nurse of the Year Awards.

More than 200 nurses were nominated for the honor, across 11 distinct categories ranging from Advanced Practice to Women's Health. Applications were reviewed and scored by high-ranking nurse leaders. Through this competitive process, six finalists within each category were named and one winner was selected in each category. Inspira had six finalists, with three being named winners – Emily Sinclair, R.N., ICU, Woodbury; Sami Abate, Ph.D., MSHS, M.S.N., R.N., CCRN, network

director, Clinical Research Office, Magnet/Pathways to Excellence; and Deborah Frye, R.N., lactation consultant, Maternity, Mullica Hill.

Finalists from Inspira included: Jonathan Paolini, D.N.P., A.P.N., ACHPN, AGACNP-BC, nurse practitioner, Palliative Care, Vineland/Elmer – Advance Practice category; Melissa Fanelle, B.S.N., R.N., 4th PEGAU, Woodbury – Critical Care category; and Joan Carberry, B.S.N., RN-C, Special Care Nursery, Vineland – Neonatal and Pediatrics category.

Inspira Joins the ‘SugarFreed’ Movement

#NJSugarfreed

Inspira has joined the #NJSugarFreed movement - an initiative of A Healthy America. This is an effort to combat the nation’s greatest health problems by using the mass media and by building social movements. So, what does this mean for Inspira? The organization will discourage sugary drinks by promoting the benefits of water, make water and low-calorie drinks more accessible, change beverage vending machine options, and more. Keep your eye out for more information regarding this initiative. Will you join Inspira and be #NJSugarFreed?

Service Spotlight: Inspira Sleep Centers Are you feeling sleepy? Many of us go through our days feeling tired. Rest is the common cure but three in 10 working adults get less than six hours of sleep a night, with most adults getting less than the recommended amount. In addition to not getting enough sleep, there are over 100 different sleep disorders that could be disturbing the sleep you do get.

There is also a strong connection between sleep disturbances and chronic health conditions like diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, heart disease and congestive heart failure. Emotional wellness can also be affected. Our bodies work to make up for lost rest time and it often affects other areas of our health.

However, there are things you can do to improve your sleep routine, address any underlying sleep disturbances and im4

prove your well-being. Getting better sleep can also increase the positive effects of other healthy lifestyle choices like diet and exercise.

The best place to start is reviewing your sleep habits, identifying areas where you can improve and discuss any concerns with your doctor. Unsure if you should talk to your doctor about your sleep habits? Wellness WithIn partnered with the Inspira Sleep Centers to provide a simple sleep self-assessment directly to our employees. This is a great place to start to see where you fall on the sleepiness scale. You can even print the Sleep Center form and bring it to your next doctor’s visit to discuss it with them. Inspira Receives National Press Ganey Success Story Award® Inspira has earned national recognition as a 2019 Success Story Award® winner for its transformation as a High Reliability Organization. The Press Ganey Success Story Award® recognizes outstanding health care organizations that have transformed their delivery of care by improving the safety, quality, and experience for patients and caregivers. Inspira is one of just 19 providers nationwide to earn this recognition.

Inspira began its transformation to a High Reliability Organization in 2015 to reduce preventable patient harm. Key components of this initiative include: education and training in high-reliability tools and best practices for over 6,000 Inspira employees and physicians; ensuring safety awareness through

Daily Safety Briefings across the network to discuss concerns and develop same-day solutions; leader rounding, in which leadership engages with staff about unit-specific concerns; and more than 200 trained, unit-based safety coaches to champion the success and fundamentals of High-Reliability. By combining these focused behaviors and tools as part of the daily workflow across the network — as well as fostering transparency and communication as core values — Inspira consistently works toward eliminating preventable patient harm.

Since late 2016, Inspira has seen tremendous success as a result of its High Reliability transformation, achieving a nearly 90 percent decrease in serious preventable harm.

Employees and Their Families Make Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Possible “Thank you for the generous donations and to all of our Inspira family who prepared and delivered 683 meals on Thanksgiving. It is a true team effort!”

It has become a tradition for Inspira Health employees and their families to deliver holiday meals to residents in Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester and Atlantic counties on Thanksgiving morning. It began seven years ago with two meals being provided. This Thanksgiving, more than 120 employees, along with dozens of their family members and friends, delivered 683 Thanksgiving meals. The meals were prepared and packaged by employees from Inspira’s Food and Nutrition Department with assistance from other departments.
