The new retail vision at John Lewis & Partners

ohn Lewis Solihull is a much-loved part of our town centre and a big part of our vast retail offering, attracting people from far and wide.

Now the only John Lewis & Partners store in the West Midlands, the company continue to listen to customer feedback to offer the local community exactly what they’re looking for.

The move to experiential shopping, providing services you simply cannot access when buying online, has been a much talked about one and John Lewis are at the forefront.

We spoke to Neil Churchard, the new Brand Experience Manager at John Lewis Solihull to find out more and discuss why the company have placed such an emphasis on experiential shopping.

You are the Brand Experience Manager at John Lewis Solihull – what does your role involve?

This is a new role that John Lewis & Partners has developed and it is my role to help bring to life what John Lewis & Partners has to offer people in the local community and engage with existing and new customers about what matters to them. From exclusive products and brands to highlighting promotions and Product Services that we have in store and online free of charge. My ambition is to provide Solihull and the West Midlands with the retail that customers love and to make sure that we talk about the amazing product range and services we have in store.

Why has John Lewis put such an importance on services and experiences?

We are continually listening and acting on the feedback from our customers, Partners and suppliers and Product Services is an area of great importance as we are able to make these experiences personal to that individual. For example we have free of charge advisory services in Nursery, Home Design and Personal Styling to help customers find the perfect product, gift or the ideal outfit for a specific occasion. It is essential that we hear what our customers love and what opportunities there are to continue providing our customers new and existing with amazing service going forward.

What feedback have you had from customers?

During the past few months our customers have been impressed with The Wellness Mat, bringing in Sports and Leisure products back to John Lewis & Partners Solihull. In addition to this we have been very creative with displays and showcasing our incredible product range and again customers have been delighted with the easy access to our Product Services.

Are you seeing people travel to the Solihull store from far afield?

As many in the local community will know, we are the only John Lewis & Partners store in the West Midlands and in turn we are seeing higher levels of footfall as customers visit from a wider catchment area within our region. That is why it is so important for JL&P Solihull to continue to listen to the feedback from our customers in order to ensure that we make every visit to our store memorable and inspirational as possible. It is also great for the Town Centre too with more people visiting us and accessing all the great facilities and stores we have in Solihull.

Are there any exciting plans for John Lewis Solihull and the experience side of the store?

As always we have lots of activities planned for Half Term holidays and Christmas. We are also joined up with Solihull BID and will play a more active part in Town Centre events coming up throughout the year. Customers will be able to access this through Solihull BID/Touchwood social media and through engaging with our Partners in store. SERVICES ON OFFER
