Ihavealsoalwayshadagreatpassionforgivingback,and in2013,Iconceptualizedadesigncompetitionthatwould askdesignersintheregiontodesignasustainablepieceof furnituretoraiseawarenessabouttheglobalwatercrisisat ayear-endgala.Isitontheboardofthecharity,called SurgeforWater,withofficesinboththeUSandtheUAE, andwehavejustcelebratedthe10thanniversaryofour designcompetition,havingimpactedhundredsofthousands ofpeopleinthird-worldcountriessuchasHaiti,the DominicanRepublic,andUganda.
IhavebeensopassionateaboutSurgeforWaterthatin 2018,Ihadasustainableandcharitablewedding, dedicatingmyweddingtothecause.Throughthewedding, wewereabletobuild3wellsandabathroomblockin Uganda.In2023,Iwasaskedtodesignahigh-risk pregnancyclinic.Thiswas6monthsafterIsuffereda miscarriagewhenIwas5monthspregnant.Itookitonasa probonoproject,andthoughitwasextremelydifficult emotionally,havinggonethroughahigh-riskpregnancy thatledtoamiscarriage,IfeltthatIcoulddirectly empathizewiththewomenwhowouldbevisitingtheclinic andthat,intheend,thiswasapowerfulsourceofhealing forme.
