Issue 29's cover is a piece titled "(untitled) rememories #4" that was designed by Sonia Louise Daves. The theme of this issue was community, how community and the individual interacts and the role a community plays in your life. We interviewed Dennis Manarchy and Chad Tepley about their Vanishing Cultures project which captures vanishing communities across the U.S. using a 35-foot long camera. Rebecca Simon, an emerging visual artist, shares her paintings which are metaphors of cultural identity. We also examine the larger community - the animal kingdom - and our place in it. Mr. Bee, the head barber at Frank's Chop Shop, sheds light on why the barbershop plays such a pivotal role in the community and discusses how the Lower East Side has changed over the past decade.
