Welcome to our new Hotel Manager !

We are thrilled to welcome Coline Aubert, to our teams! Get to know more about her.

Bonjour!

My name is Coline, and I come from the beautiful French Alps, near Annecy.

Passionate about travel, fine hospitality, and creating meaningful guest experiences, I’ve had the privilege of working for several years aboard both ocean and river cruise ships.

I recently joined Uniworld as a Hotel Manager and feel incredibly honored to be part of a company so highly regarded for its elegance, service, and genuine care for its crew members.

What did you know about Uniworld that really appealed to you?

Uniworld’s unwavering commitment to excellence, personalization, and authenticity truly stood out to me. I’ve always admired the stunning ship design, meticulous attention to detail, and above all, the guest-centric philosophy that defines the Uniworld experience.

What is the best work experience you’ve had so far?

It’s hard to choose just one—every role I’ve held has offered something unique. I’ve had the joy of meeting incredible people from all over the world, traveling to fascinating destinations, and growing both personally and professionally. The many heartfelt messages and positive feedback from guests have been deeply rewarding and continue to inspire me every day.

What are you most proud of in your career?

I’m proud of the milestones I’ve achieved, both individually and as part of a team. There’s something truly special about collective success—especially when it results in happy guests who say they’ll return. I also feel immense pride whenever my team receives positive feedback, as it reflects their consistent dedication and hard work.

What are you most looking forward to in working for Uniworld?

I look forward to inspiring my team, delivering unforgettable guest experiences, and continuing to learn and grow within such a prestigious company.

What or who inspires you?

Many of the people I’ve met throughout my life have inspired me—individuals from diverse cultures, traditions, and walks of life. Every encounter has taught me something valuable, and these experiences continue to shape the way I lead and connect with others.

What or who motivates you?

I’m driven by positive energy and smiles. Seeing people happy—whether they’re guests, crew members, friends, or family—gives me purpose and motivation. Their joy and encouragement inspire me to give my best every day.

What are your hobbies?

I love capturing moments through photography while traveling, then translating them into artwork with acrylics or watercolors. My greatest passion, however, is discovering local cultures and getting lost in new places around the world. Every destination inspires me with its unique beauty and traditions.

Is there anything we should know about you?

Before working professionally in the cruise industry, I took over 30 cruises as a passenger! This personal passion greatly influences the way I approach my work and my attention to detail.

What are you interested in that most people haven’t heard of?

I’m deeply fascinated by Ayurveda, the power of the subconscious mind, and neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to rewire itself. These subjects intrigue me because they blend health, well-being, and personal development in a powerful way.

What job would you be terrible at?

Definitely IT coding or mathematics—I’m much more of a creative and people-oriented person!

What skill would you like to master?

I would love to master tango dancing. There’s something so elegant and expressive about it that truly captivates me.

What’s the best way to start the day?

With a strong coffee—or two!—and the warmth of smiling faces around me. There’s nothing like a cheerful morning greeting to start the day on the right foot.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?

For nature and wildlife, South Georgia was absolutely unforgettable—breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and a profound sense of connection to nature. Culturally, I’ve been most fascinated by Greece—its history, vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, and the diversity of its islands, each uniquely beautiful.

What was the best book or series you’ve read or seen?

Stupeur et Tremblements by Belgian author Amélie Nothomb. It’s an autobiographical novel about her experience working in Japan, and it powerfully captures cultural contrasts and workplace dynamics.

Favorite quote?

“If you can dream it, you can do it.” – Walt Disney

Any message to your colleagues?

I’m truly proud and grateful to be part of this amazing team. Thank you all for the warm welcome and your ongoing support—it means so much. I look forward to creating unforgettable moments together and celebrating our shared successes. Let’s make every day exceptional!

INTERVIEW

Welcome to Zsolt Kiraly, our new Corporate Captain

How did you start your career with Uniworld?

Uniworld has always had a reputation for excellence, which is why I was both excited and a bit nervous when I saw the job posting on Facebook for a corporate captain. I thought, “Why not give it a try?” I submitted my resume and, a few weeks later, was invited for an interview. After that, some of my former colleagues spoke on my behalf. I’m not sure exactly what they said, but I’m grateful to be here— and I hope to stay for many years to come.

What did you know about Uniworld that appealed to you?

From what I had seen and heard, Uniworld sets very high standards, both for its nautical and hospitality staff. That reputation was very appealing to me. Now that I’ve had a chance to see the ships up close, I can confidently say that Uniworld feels like a true family—and I’m excited to be a part of it.

What is the best work experience you have had so far? What has impressed me most is how welcoming and supportive the captains and hotel managers have been. I’ve never been met with harsh criticism or negativity— instead, the atmosphere has always been friendly and constructive. That kind of culture is incredibly valuable to me, especially considering that I’ve had very different experiences elsewhere.

What are you most proud of in your career so far? Honestly? That I’ve managed to keep my sense of humor! But in all seriousness, I’m most proud of the people I’ve had the chance to mentor and support. Helping colleagues advance in their careers or successfully pass their exams has been one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I believe one of the captain’s most important roles is to teach—even if it’s sometimes challenging.

What are you looking forward to in working for Uniworld?

Teamwork. I’ve been searching for a strong sense of teamwork for years, and I believe I’ve found the right environment here.

What or who inspires you?

My greatest inspiration comes from my children—my son and daughter. They’re amazing individuals, imperfections and all. I’ve grown alongside them, and everything I do, I do with them in mind.

What or who motivates you?

• My mother– She’s an eternal optimist and a fighter. Even after losing her eyesight ten years ago, she maintained her humor and positivity, once joking, “At least now I don’t see if the windows are dirty!”

• My sister– She chose peace of mind over financial gain. After working on major productions like Robin Hood and Hellboy 2, she stepped away from a high-paying, high-stress career. Now she creates handmade toys and jewelry—surrounded by a great team, which is something I also aspire to.

• My wife– She’s been my rock and partner for 20 years. Her resilience and patience deserve the utmost respect.

What are your hobbies?

Before COVID-19, I was deeply involved in watch collecting and trading. I even launched my own watch brand, though the pandemic disrupted those plans. I still manage a Facebook group of a few thousand watch enthusiasts and try to help when I can. Today, most of my free time is spent on my lifelong passion: abstract geometric art.

I have a small international collection and also paint myself—blending graffiti with abstract influences. I’ve had seven exhibitions, won several competitions, and have pieces featured in auctions and galleries, which I’m very proud of. Additionally, I maintain three large aquariums—together totaling 800 liters—filled with beautiful tropical fish.

What was the best book or series that you’ve ever read or seen?

Band of Brothers for its storytelling and humanity and... Rheinschifffahrtspolizeiverordnung—because some regulations are just unforgettable!

Favorite quote?

“You don’t have to freak out.”

Any message to your colleagues?

Thank you all for the warm welcome! During my probation period, I’d love to keep things simple—many ships have already asked for help with Hungarian pálinka and beer, so for now, could we maybe stick to Hungarian sweets like túró rudi? I truly appreciate the trust you’ve shown me, and I promise to do my best to live up to it. Thank you so much!

What skill would you like to master?

I’d really like to improve my English significantly, and also become much more proficient with the internal computer systems we use at Uniworld.

What’s the best way to start the day?

This is one of those things that’s hard to define—but if I had to choose one, I’d say: yoga.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?

It’s a tie between a captains’ kickoff meeting, a delivery room, and—believe it or not—a police interrogation room (promise not my fault!). Each one left a strong impression on me!

Pride Month 2025

Pride Month traces its origins back to the Stonewall Riots, which began on June 28, 1969. These events marked a pivotal moment in the LGBTQIA+ rights movement and laid the foundation for future advocacy and visibility. In honor of Stonewall and the first Pride marches held in major U.S. cities the following year, most Pride celebrations around the world now take place in June—especially in the northern hemisphere. While some cities may hold their events at different times of the year, June is widely recognized as Pride Month in many countries.

Throughout the month, Pride is celebrated through a wide variety of events—ranging from parades and concerts to educational workshops and panel discussions. The large city parades, however, remain the most visible and symbolic aspects of Pride Month.

New York City continues to be a global epicenter of Pride, attracting millions of participants to its annual Pride March. Similarly, São Paulo’s Pride celebration is among the largest in the world, with both cities drawing crowds of up to 4 million people. Other major cities such as Madrid, Toronto, and San Francisco also see hundreds of thousands—if not millions—gathering in solidarity, celebration, and protest.

It’s important to recognize that not all countries allow for open Pride celebrations, and the level of acceptance and visibility of LGBTQIA+ communities varies significantly around the world.

As part of our commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity, Uniworld proudly participates in Pride Month celebrations every year. Each ship in our fleet will fly the rainbow flag throughout the month of June as a visible symbol of support and solidarity.

Uniworld is part of The Travel Corporation (TTC) Family of Brands and actively contributes to the TTC IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action) program. Through various initiatives, we aim to raise awareness, foster inclusivity, and drive meaningful change. One of our key achievements is our DEI Policy, through which we continue to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at every level of our organization.

This year, we will once again standardize email signatures across the company to include inspiring Pride quotes, sending a unified message of tolerance, acceptance, and allyship. We will also provide an optional rainbow-themed background for use in Teams calls and virtual meetings, allowing everyone the opportunity to show support in a way that feels authentic to them.

“There will not be a magic day when we wake up and it’s now okay to express ourselves publicly. We make that day by doing things publicly until it’s simply the way things are.”

— IDEA LGBTQIA+ Circle

River Duchess - Highlights of Eastern Europe

“Staff was excellent. All friendly and provided excellent service. Wasn’t sure what to expect as a solo traveler but glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and gave river cruising and Uniworld a try. Well done. “ - Stanley -

River Princess - Tulips & Windmills

“The cruise manager (I apologize—I’m blanking on his name, but I believe it was Thomas) was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and positive! He consistently looked out for passengers, ensuring they were on the correct tours, that their needs were met, and that everyone was back onboard before the ship departed. The tours and tour guides were excellent! The “gentle walker” option was especially appreciated—it provided extra time to absorb the historical information and take photos at a more relaxed pace. The taxi service provided in Bruges was a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch!

The dining staff were outstanding. They remembered passengers and their preferences, which truly made the experience feel personalized and special. Peter was exceptional, and Dmitrijs was always very responsive. The bar staff were also highly attentive and ensured that passengers’ preferences were met. Housekeeping did an excellent job accommodating special circumstances, and we were very grateful for their flexibility and care.

Overall, this was an outstanding cruise and a truly memorable experience, thanks to the attentive, service-oriented staff and the exceptional itinerary, tours, and guides. We also appreciated the free time to explore each town on our own. We highly recommend Uniworld and this specific tour! “ - Maribeth & Edward -

S.S. Antoinette - Remarkable Rhine & Historic Holland

“I would like to name some excellent crew members. First, Jose - waiter on the Antoinette. He was extremely attentive, professional and still quite humble and kind. If there was ever room for promotion, I would recommend him. Also the entire bar crew, but particularly Maria. You felt as though you have met a friend on the first day! Soren was wonderful as well. Professional and extremely knowledgeable about wines. He worked hard to ensure everyone was taken well care of. Everyone was excellent, the river boat experience was our first, but will not be our last.“ - Susan -

S.S. Beatrice - Delightful Danube & Prague

“I cannot say enough positive things about the staff onboard SS Beatrice. This was our first river cruise and what delight it was. The wide variety of food offered at every meal was amazing and delicious. The excursions were interesting; learned quite a bit of history. Shoutouts to tour guides Rebecca, Christine, Andrea, and Christiane. Enjoyed listening to them share the history for their particular excursion. Also, special shoutouts to the cruise staff for their service with a smile and kindness: Marko, Marko, Ilber, Ilker, Dimitar, Kaloyan and Daniel. You have made this cruise/trip that much more enjoyable!! Thank you to the Captain and Milcho for keeping us informed of any changes with our itinerary. Lastly, the University Professor’s lecture was well presented, and we enjoyed listening to him speak. Thank you all again for everything!!!“ - Lauren -

See you again before too long! “ - Margaret -

S.S. Catherine - Burgundy & Provence

“The staff on the SS Catherine were excellent. This was our first ever cruise and we appreciated the organization and information provided by our cruise director, Emannuelle. her nightly updates were very informative and she was very good at keeping the attention of 100+ people so that her message could be heard by all. We witnessed her handling unexpected situations with efficiency and grace. We very much appreciated her. The sommelier, Laszlo was very knowledgeable and was happy to share his knowledge with us. His MC Wine Tasting as a wonderful event. Our butler, Ivelan, was so very helpful. Although we did not utilize him as much as I think he wanted us to, he made the experience exceptional. We also enjoyed the diversity of the staff in the dining room. Getting to know the servers over the week we learned about where they are from and where their families live (such as Alex). Having to be away from their families for extended periods of time must be difficult and we appreciate the professionalism and high level of service they provide. I’m sure there are many more staff behind the scenes we did not meet face to face so a thank you to them as well. “ - Sheila -

S.S. Elisabeth - Castles Along the Rhine
