Happy 2026 Season!

A MESSAGE FROM BEN Managing Director

A Strong Start to the Season

Following an eventful winter, we officially launched the season with a series of memorable milestones: our annual Kickoff Meeting in Amsterdam, the Gala Celebration marking 50 years of Uniworld complete with the awards ceremony, the inauguration of the S.S. Emilie, and the long-anticipated launch of Trafalgar River.

These achievements would not have been possible without the dedication and teamwork shown across the organization. My sincere congratulations go to everyone directly involved in these events, as well as to those working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our ships were ready and our guests welcomed back on board.

As we now settle into our operational routine, our focus remains firmly on the future. Fleet expansion for both Uniworld and Trafalgar is well underway, with shipbuilding in progress, layouts and interior designs being refined, and new colleagues joining our teams to support continued growth.

We are entering an exciting phase of innovation and expansion, and I am very much looking forward to what we will accomplish together as we continue to raise the bar.

Thank you all for your continued commitment, and I wish everyone a fantastic start to the season.

S.S. Emilie Inauguration Ceremony

The launch of the S.S. Emilie was a memorable and joyful celebration for Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, taking place on March 21, 2026. Guests, partners, and team members gathered along the riverbank to mark the occasion as the ship was officially christened in the presence of CEO Ellen Bettridge and godmother Julie Higgins, adding a personal and meaningful touch to the event.

A standout moment was the recognition of the onboard hotel and nautical teams, whose dedication and hard work right up to the final hours ensured the S.S. Emilie looked exceptional and was fully ready to welcome her very first guests. Their efforts truly brought the ship to life for this special day.

With the traditional champagne ceremony and a warm, celebratory atmosphere, the S.S. Emilie officially began her journey. This launch marks the start of an exciting new chapter, as she prepares to set sail in 2026 and welcome guests onboard for unforgettable river cruise experiences.

Uniworld Reveals First Look At New Super Ships

Debuting In 2027

~New Renderings Showcase the S.S. Audrey and S.S. Marlene, Inspired by Screen Legends Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich~

LOS ANGELES – March 16, 2026 – Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has unveiled the first renderings of its newest Super Ships debuting in 2027, the S.S. Audrey and S.S. Marlene, inspired by European icons Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich.

The sister ships will bring two distinct design visions to Europe’s rivers, drawing from the iconic aesthetics of the celebrated actresses while continuing Uniworld’s tradition of design-driven ships that reflect the regions they sail.

“One-of-a-kind design has always been central to the Uniworld experience,” says Ellen Bettridge, President and CEO of Uniworld. “With the S.S. Audrey and S.S. Marlene, we’re celebrating two women whose style defined an era. These ships bring their spirit to life through thoughtful details and spaces created to deepen our guests’ connection to the destinations along the journey, and we’re excited to share a sneak peek inside.”

First Look: S.S. Audrey

The S.S. Audrey draws inspiration from Audrey Hepburn’s timeless style and mid-20th-century Europe – the era that defined her career – incorporating a sophisticated modern design throughout the ship. Guests will find interiors featuring a palette of greens, golds and blues, complemented by vibrant accents, geometric patterns and artistic tributes to the iconic actress.

Like sister ship S.S. Emilie, debuting in 2026, the S.S. Audrey will feature a layout designed to enhance the onboard experience, including an intimate aft bar lounge, a bookable private dining room for exclusive culinary moments, and the ability to combine adjacent suites to create spacious two-bedroom accommodations for families or groups traveling together.

The S.S. Audrey will begin sailing on April 16, 2027, with its inaugural departure on the ‘Remarkable Rhine & Historic Holland’ itinerary. Throughout the season, the ship will sail a mix of returning guest favorites alongside two new journeys debuting in 2027: ‘Paris, Prague & Germany’s Hidden Gems’ and Scenic Rhine, Paris & the Swiss Alps.’

First Look: S.S. Marlene

The S.S. Marlene pays tribute to the striking presence and timeless beauty of German-born actress and singer Marlene Dietrich. Interiors reflect her bold aesthetic, blending warm tan and gold tones with dramatic accents of pink, red and blue throughout select spaces. Accommodating up to 154 guests, the ship will feature signature Uniworld amenities including a restaurant, lounge, private dining room, spa and fitness center.

The S.S. Marlene will begin sailing on March 27, 2027, with its inaugural departure on the ‘Tulips & Windmills’ itinerary. The ship will also sail through the waterways of Central Europe on other classic itineraries such as ‘Enchanting Danube’ and ‘Delightful Danube’, offering guests a new way to experience the region’s historic cities and cultural landmarks.

Continuing Super Ship Expansion in 2027

In addition to Audrey and Marlene, Uniworld will also welcome the S.S. São Rafael in 2027, a new Super Ship sailing Portugal’s Douro River. The ship will accommodate up to 94 guests and expand the brand’s capacity in one of Europe’s most sought-after wine regions. The final addition to the fleet is the Aqua Blu, a sleek expedition yacht operated in partnership with Aqua Expeditions, offering access to the islands of Indonesia and Singapore with up to 30 guests onboard.

With their debut, Uniworld’s entire fleet will consist of Super Ships by 2027, offering travelers the most luxurious and design-forward boutique river cruising experiences across Europe’s rivers and beyond.

Kick-Off Meeting 2026

As tradition proudly dictates, our annual kickoff meeting once again took place in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. The event offered a fantastic opportunity for colleagues from across the organization to come together, exchange ideas, learn from one another, and celebrate several important milestones. The atmosphere was one of connection, inspiration, and shared pride in what we have achieved together.

Welcome, Emilie!

With the launch of the brand-new S.S. Emilie, we are entering an exciting new era of luxury within our fleet. We had the great privilege of visiting the ship while it was still in its final stages of preparation—a truly special experience. Many of us were deeply impressed by the exceptional quality of the materials, the attention to detail, and the refined elegance of the design. Beyond its striking aesthetics, the advanced technology powering this new vessel represents another meaningful step forward in our sustainability journey. This achievement was proudly driven by Julie and her teams, whose commitment continues to shape a more responsible and forward-looking future for our fleet.

A special note of appreciation goes to all our colleagues whose dedication, collaboration, and hard work ensured the successful and timely delivery of the ship. This milestone would not have been possible without you.

A themed Party: bring the 50’s on!

As always, a special theme was thoughtfully curated—and this year, it was a glamorous trip back to the fabulous 1950s. Rock ’n’ roll, vintage vibes, and iconic style filled the evening. From the unmistakable Pink Ladies (with a nod to the unforgettable Olivia Newton-John) to playful hints of Marilyn Monroe sprinkled throughout the event, the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. Grease was definitely the word!

Gala evening: 50 years of Uniworld!

What an incredible milestone. Many of us felt a deep sense of pride, having been part of this journey for so long—witnessing the growth of our company and the continued expansion of our fleet, with many more exciting chapters still to come. This highlight was beautifully represented by Ellen and her team, particularly during the Gala ceremony, which truly captured the spirit of the celebration.

Of course, each of us was delighted to celebrate in style, showcasing our finest “golden” features on this very special occasion.

Congratulations to all our winners, for your commitment and deidcation and on your well deserved awards

Opening and Community Days 2026

The New Concept

Travel has given us the opportunity to give back and uplift others, and we strive to do so whenever possible. We are committed to making a positive impact—especially in the places where we dock. Too often, local communities experience ships only as sources of pollution, noise, and large crowds. We want to challenge that perception by showing who we are, what we do, and what we stand for.

Over the past seasons, we have organized a large team-building and volunteer day focused on welcoming guests in Amsterdam. Starting this year, our ambition is to organize one community day per ship each year. These days may take place during ship openings in winter locations, at the start of the season, during the season, or later in the year—whenever they best fit the local context. Most importantly, this approach allows us to engage with more local communities while involving our entire crew.

Through these initiatives, we aim to build long-lasting, sustainable relationships with local communities, vendors, and organizations. By working closely together, we can create meaningful impact that extends well beyond a single visit.

As we are still at the beginning of this journey, during this opening season we organized community days for five ships. For the remaining ships, we developed a dedicated teambuilding day with a strong focus on water awareness, in collaboration with local and sustainable initiatives. In the following pages, you will read and see what some of our ships have already accomplished—and what inspiring activities are still to come.

S.S. Elisabeth

The team of the S.S. Elizabeth welcomed 33 caregivers onboard their ship for a relaxing and fun afternoon. As the caregivers are 24/7 taking care of a loved one, they do not really have time for themselves. The team organized bingo, showed the guests around the ship, the wellbeing coach took care of extra relaxation with offering chairmassage. Of course, the cherry on the cake where the amazing refreshments made by the culinary team and the drinks served by the bar & restaurant team. Thank you amazing S.S. Elisabeth team!

Some words for the contact person:

“We are incredible thankful for this afternoon, I never saw them this happy”.

“The guests could just relax and be pampered a whole afternoon, and did not have to look after someone for a moment, that was a treasure”.

S.S. Victoria

Almost 90 guests joined the S.S. Victoria on a rainy afternoon. However, as soon as the guests stepped onboard, the rain was gone and they could only smile. Impressed by the service of the team, the wonderful refreshments, the fun bingo and the care of the team, gave the guests that joined the ship a memory to never forget. Some words for the contact person: The guests were incredible thankful for this afternoon, they felt so spoiled. The guests that visited the ship have financial difficulties, struggling sometimes to pay their weekly groceries. Money to go to a cinema or do something fun is not really available, so to have an “outing” like this was really priceless.

Also the team did some more teambuilding together and created in the light of World Water Day beautiful art project. Below are some photos showcasing their imaginative creations.

S.S. Catherine

We organized an environmental awareness event in Arles for the S.S. Catherine team. The Milvi team visited the ship to conduct a workshop focused on plastic awareness. They introduced their project, Plastoctoc, which features a combination of a plastic awareness workshop along with a 5-meter-long trailer. This trailer is equipped with the following tools:

• A band saw for cutting larger pieces of plastic.

• A shredder for producing chips of various sizes.

• A pizza oven and a hydraulic press for shaping materials into 67 cm wide forms.

• An extruder-injector for hot extruding yarn and injecting it into molds.

The team began by collecting plastic waste, effectively cleaning the entire docking area – great job, team! Afterward, they received further insights into recycling plastic, resulting in the creation of letters made from the collected plastic. The team’s engagement and involvement were exceptional. Check out the photos!

Upcoming Events & How You Can Contribute

In April, our S.S. Beatrice team and the Trafalgar Verity team will launch their ships. During the opening days, we have some exciting events planned that will allow both teams to engage with the local community and make a meaningful impact. As mentioned we aim to have 1 community day per ship year, so that planning and organistation continues. Would you like to make a difference in someone’s life or contribute positively to the environment or animal welfare? Keep in mind that we have a volunteer day policy. If you’re unsure where to begin, please reach out to Astrid, and together we can explore options. If you are already involved in regular volunteer work, let Astrid know, as we may inspire others to join in as well.

Coffee & Connect - 1st Edition

We celebrated the International Day of Happiness, 20th March, with a short coffee break in the office ... and what a great break it was! Good coffee, local sweet treats, and even better conversations. It was fantastic to hear what made everyone happy today - from good news about a neighbor’s health, to chasing tickets for a Celine Dion concert, to simply looking forward to sunny weather next week. Proof that happiness really is in the little things!

Just for fun - according to the World Happiness Report, the happiest countries are: 01. Finland 02. Denmark 03. Iceland …and Switzerland proudly in the top 10!

Great vibes, great people, great moment - let’s do it again!

Teambuilding Days

Antoinette Team Kicks Off the Season!

The Antoinette team was the very first to launch this season! On Sunday, March 15th, they embarked on a scavenger hunt through the streets of Arnhem, singing and dancing along the way. They engaged with locals in search of a regional delicacy, an *Arnhems grofje*, which proved to be quite a challenge on a Sunday. Each team carried a garbage bag, and the team that collected the most litter earned extra points! In the afternoon, the focus shifted to World Water Day. The team raised awareness and brainstormed new ideas for water conservation, while also creating artwork from materials they found on board. From the photos and videos, it appeared that they had an amazing time!

Next Up - Team Joie de Vivre

The Joie de Vivre team was launching their ship in Rouen. It was an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Joan of Arc and discover the city while connecting with locals and practicing some French. The team engaged in plogging—picking up litter while walking —and sampled various local delicacies. Most importantly, they appeared to have a fantastic time. Judging by the footage, they might have formed the longest conga line of all the teams so far!

Discovering Passau - Team Maria Theresa

The Maria Theresa team had to hop on a bus to reach the town. Their scavenger hunt guided them through the charming medieval streets of Passau. In celebration of World Water Day, the team developed wonderfully creative projects during their awareness workshops. Great job, team!

To

close it off - Team River Duchess

The River Duchess team started the day with a lot of creativity, by creating interesting art projects of whatever they could find on the ship.

The World Water Day awareness session encouraged brainstorming ideas on how to conserve and preserve water, including measuring the water flow from taps in litres and participating in a World Water Day quiz.

In the afternoon the team went out and about on the scavenger hunt in Arnhem. This time it was a bit easier to find the typical Arnhem’s bread, and the team enjoyed according to the photos !

Coming Up.....

The teams of the S.S. Bon Voyage and the S.S. La Venezia will be opening their ships soon and will explore the streets of Bordeaux and La Dolce Venice on their teambuilding day. More to come!

Energy Efficiency Ambassadors Training

Immediately following the kickoff, twelve enthusiastic team members gathered in Arnhem for an Energy Efficiency training session led by Stefano Scarpa from ABL.

The aim of this training is to develop 12 Energy Efficiency Ambassadors, that afterwards can raise the awareness of Energy Efficiency onboard.

Throughout the training, we gained valuable insights into:

• Greenhouse gases and emissions Strategies to reduce emissions while sailing

• Approaches to enhance energy efficiency while sailing but also on the hotel side of our operations”

Energy Efficiency Training Module 1

This module introduces the fundamentals of emissions and energy use on river cruise vessels, exploring how operational choices directly influence fuel consumption, costs, and environmental impact.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

• Explain what greenhouse gases are, where emissions come from onboard, and why they matter for river cruise operations.

• Describe how energy is produced and used onboard, including key concepts such as energy conversion, efficiency, and specific fuel consumption.

• Analyse the relationship between vessel speed, power demand, fuel consumption, and emissions, and identify opportunities for speed optimisation.

• Identify operational measures, such as power management1 trim/draft control, navigation in rivers1 and hotel-load efficiency, that reduce energy use and emissions.

• Apply lessons from the Joie de Vivre case study to understand real-world energy profiles and potential f1eet-wide savings.”

In the upcoming months, we will roll out an online training to be completed by the nautical team, hotel managers and head of departments.

Moving forward, everyone in the team can complete this online training.

The 12 Energy Efficiency Ambassadors will hold monthly calls to exchange best practices, ideas, and improvements.

If you have any suggestions or feedback regarding energy efficiency or ideas for reducing emissions, please reach out to your onboard Energy Efficiency Ambassador or send an email to astrid.veldwijk@uniworld.com. You can as well fill out your ideas in our “Just sayin’ ” app.
