The lost season of 2020-2021 on our stages is finally coming to an end and our Treasure Coast Performing Arts community is getting ready to raise the curtains! Get out your calendars and read on. The Vero Beach Theatre Guild heads into Season 64 beginning July 14 with the opening of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest directed by Michael D. Naffziger. The Broadway Tony Award winner will continue to run through July 25. We’re not sure if that was on purpose but it seems appropriate at this time. Up next, and just in time for Halloween and under the direction of Alex Martinez will be Bram Stoker’s classic thriller Dracula playing October 6 - 17 followed by another Tony Award winner, Sleuth. This clever whodunit, directed by Alex Kantor, runs November 10 - 21. Riverside Theatre has not yet announced its 2022 lineup, but the rest of the calendar year will feature Comedy Zones and Live in the Loop performances almost every weekend through December. The always merry and bright Festival of Trees is set to take place in November. Also at Riverside, Ballet Vero returns to its pursuit to bring the best of dance back with konverjdans. This unique troupe from New York City represents the pinnacle of contemporary ballet, artistic collaboration, and forward-thinking dance making. Performances will feature the company alongside Ballet Vero Beach’s resident professional dancers.

Sunrise Theatre will present Bruce In The USA Friday, July 23. Much more than just another tribute, this high-energy musical experience is a note-perfect and visually accurate recreation of a Bruce Springsteen & The E St. Band show. Then on Friday, August 27, the Sunrise stage tips its hat to Freddie with Great Britain’s most explosive rock ‘n’ roll tribute show, One Night of Queen. In case you can’t make it or you just can’t get enough of Queen, The Lyric Theatre in Stuart will also present the new, improved touring concert, Mercury, as its season opener on October 10.
