APRIL 2015 In This Issue: • Hope Unveiled • Prenatal Vitamins • Baby Bottle Drive • Extended Hours

I

first heard of Hands of Hope (now Parkville Women’s Clinic) through my church when I volunteered to be the liaison between the two. I met with the director, Sonya Rice, and we talked for over an hour sharing our hearts as though we were longtime friends. Her desire to help those who found themselves in an unexpected pregnancy touched a place in my heart, and I began volunteering at the center one day a week. That was five years ago, and I had no idea how it would impact my life and the opportunities I would have to touch others. My pastor said a few weeks ago that there are no unplanned babies, just unplanned parents. At PWC, we have the privilege to work with those who are dealing with that reality. We share information with those trying to make an incredibly life changing decision. We work with those who just need to know they can find help and support while dealing with bringing a new life into this world. Offering assistance to those who need our Smart Steps classes helps our clients become better parents.

I work with an incredible group of ladies who have a heart for babies and the parents who find themselves in an unexpected situation. We are allowed into the lives of our clients and have an opportunity to touch them in a myriad of ways: to offer ultrasounds showing their baby, to encourage, share helpful information, help provide for some needs for the baby, and just to be someone that cares about them and will not make any judgments. In return, we are blessed abundantly and get loving hugs and the opportunity to hold beautiful babies. Parkville Women’s Clinic has changed and grown to offer many more services than when I started volunteering, but the desire to help their clients in as many ways as possible has not changed. Neither has the heart of the wonderful ladies that help keep this ministry going. - by Doris Franklin

“The ladies at PWC were really quick and very respectful; I would not change anything about them.”
