Jabe “Lloyd” Lucas, longtime co-op employee, dies Mr. Jabe “Lloyd” Lucas, Serviceman for Woodruff Electric Cooperative, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 7, 2018. He was 57 years old. Lucas resided in Wynne, Arkansas and worked for Woodruff for more than 27 years.

“We are truly saddened by Lloyd’s passing,” said Michael Swan, President and CEO of Woodruff Electric. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Here at Woodruff Electric, we have also lost a member of our family. We will all miss him and are better for having known him.”

Lucas joined Woodruff Electric Cooperative Corporation in 1991 as a laborer in the Augusta district. He soon entered the apprentice lineman program and became the respected journeyman lineman in 1994. In 1996, Lloyd was promoted to serviceman and served members throughout the Woodruff Electric service territory, specifically District 1 near Fair Oaks, Cherry Valley, Wynne and surrounding areas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Laura Lucas of the home; two daughters, Victoria Elizabeth Cansler and husband, David, of McCrory; and Cassidy Ashton Lucas of Jonesboro; a brother, David Lucas and wife, Robin, of Seymour, Tennessee; four sisters, Melinda Downey and husband, Tony, of Forrest City; Rebecca Chittom and husband, Mark, of Franklin, Tennessee; Lisa Jumper and husband, Scotty, of Forrest City; and Lynn Love and husband, Rockey, of Forrest City; his father-in-law, Donald Blankenship of Forrest City; two sisters-in-law, Kelly Lewis and husband, Albert, of Forrest City; and Taelor Blankenship of Jonesboro; a brother-in-law, Baker Blankenship of Forrest City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Lloyd Lucas was held on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in Wynne, Arkansas. Interment followed at the Halk Cemetery near Wynne.

Holiday closing The offices of Woodruff Electric Cooperative will be closed on Thursday, November 22, and Friday November 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
