SEPTEMBER 2026

THE MESSENGER A Publication for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative Members

New app, portal launches Sept. 8 Due date transitioning to 3rd To ensure the best possible experience for members, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative adjusted the timeline for our new billing system and SmartHub launch to Sept. 8. You will have a new account number, bill design, due date and portal/app called SmartHub to log in to your account (if you would like) beginning Sept. 8. As a reminder, if you have an email on file, we will email your new account number and links to the SmartHub portal and app the week of Sept. 8. The first statement you will receive in the new system will be processed around Oct. 9 for usage from Sept. 1-30. It will include your new account number. The due date will be Nov. 3, and we will continue with a due date of the third of each month. Recurring payment methods previously set up with a debit or credit card or with a bank account through the existing portal will not transfer. However, if your account was set up on automatic bank draft through our office, that will continue in the new system. Once you have created a SmartHub account, setting up an Auto Pay again is easy. You also can speak with a Member Services employee to set an Auto Pay up again after Sept. 8. We appreciate your patience as NAEC employees work with the software cooperative’s team for a smooth transition to the new system. Please email info@naeci.com or call (870) 895-3221 during regular business hours if you have any questions or concerns.

Sharing electric safety with first responders

NAEC’s James Woody, Chris Waltrip and Ben Leslie present a high-voltage safety trailer demonstration to representatives of the Calico Rock, Morriston, Norfork and Pineville fire departments in July. They shared electric safety information with the first responders, including how to respond to vehicle accidents involving downed power lines. If you hit an electric pole, stay in the car to avoid possibly being electrocuted. Call 911, and wait until a line technician arrives and tells you it is safe to leave the vehicle. The exception is if your car is on fire. In that case, jump clear of the vehicle without touching it and the ground at the same time. Then hop away with your feet together.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY TIP OF THE MONTH September kicks off the fall shoulder season, when cooler mornings and milder evenings often mean you can give your heating/cooling system a break. Open windows, use ceiling fans and enjoy the fresh air whenever temperatures allow. It’s also the perfect time to schedule annual HVAC maintenance before colder weather arrives. Because demand is typically lower during the fall, heating and cooling professionals often have greater availability, making it easier to book an appointment. Regular maintenance can improve your system’s efficiency, help prevent unexpected breakdowns and keep your home comfortable all year long. — U.S. Department of Energy
