TIP OF THE MONTH
During summer months, run large appliances that emit heat such as clothes dryers and dishwashers during the evening when the outdoor temperature is lower. Running heat-emitting appliances in the evening will reduce indoor heat gain during the day when outdoor temperatures are highest and ultimately keep your air conditioner from working harder than necessary.

Corn on the Cob with Lime Butter
Ingredients:
6 ears fresh corn, unshucked
1 bunch fresh parsley, chopped 1 stick unsalted butter
Salt and black pepper 1 lime, zest finely grated Queso cheese for drizzling
Directions:
Soak corn in water for 1 hour. Put soaked cobs on the hot grill and cook 30-40 minutes, turning frequently. While the corn is grilling make the lime butter: In a small bowl add the butter, lime zest, parsley, and salt and pepper, to taste. Mix well and spread onto a large plate. Take the corn off the grill and carefully peel back the husks (it will be hot). Remove the corn silk and tie the husks in a knot so you can hold on to it like a handle. Roll in the lime butter and then drizzle with queso fresco. Enjoy! For Dixie Electric Cooperative

GENERATOR SAFETY
Generators can be helpful in an emergency or an extended outage, but it's important to know how to use them safely. Only operate your generator in a dry outdoor area with plenty of ventilation. Use a transfer switch to avoid back-feeding. Backfeeding occurs when energy leaves the generator and goes back into the utility electrical equipment. This can be dangerous for linemen and others working in the area.
