SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY Dixie will be awarding ten $2,500 scholarships through the Electric Cooperative Foundation. The scholarship competition is open to any graduating high school senior who is the dependent of a Dixie member-owner. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college/school that the winner plans to attend. Scholarship funds can be used at a two or four year college, as well as for technical or vocational schools as the student works towards an associates degree, bachelors degree, or certification program. The 2019 application can be downloaded at www.dixie.coop. Ingredients:
Loaded Crack Potatoes
1 oz. package ranch dressing mix 8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled 16 oz. container sour cream 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese 32 oz. pkg. frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter. Combine hash browns, sour cream, bacon, ranch mix, and 1 cup Cheddar cheese in a large bowl; stir until well mixed. Spread into baking pan; cover with aluminum foil. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove foil; sprinkle remaining Cheddar cheese evenly across potatoes. Bake until cheese bubbles and is lightly browned around the edges, about 15 minutes.

BE IN-THE-KNOW DOWNED LINE SAFETY
If the car you are in hits a utility pole, it is important to know what to do to stay out of harm's way. Your vehicle and the surrounding area can become energized by downed power lines, so even if the lines are not touching you or equipment around you, you can still be killed or seriously injured.
1. Do NOT leave the car, and warn others to stay away.
2. Call 911 to have utility services notified. 3. Wait until a utility professional has told you it is safe.
The ONLY reason to exit the vehicle is if it is on fire. If the car is on fire, jump clear of the vehicle by keeping your feet together and hopping away as far as you can go. Do NOT touch the car and the ground at the same time.
