Electrical Safety 101
FACT:
Electricity and water are a dangerous combination! Water is an excellent conductor of electricity, and since the human body is composed primarily of water, you too are an excellent conductor of electricity. That is why it is so important to keep all electrical appliances away from water. Make sure you are not standing in water when you touch anything electrical. Do not use electronics or extension cords near pools, hot tubs, or any body of water. Also, never shoot water from a garden hose or highpowered water gun near power lines. Electricity can travel down the stream of water directly to you.

Thinking of adding a pool this summer? Pools can provide many hours of family fun. Just be sure to consider the cost to operate the pool pump when calculating your monthly maintenance expense. This will help you avoid a surprise when you get your monthly power bill. If you are installing a new pool, never place it under power lines, and always remember to call to locate underground power lines before digging. Ask your pool company to install the lowest horsepower pump possible to meet your needs. Try to minimize the amount of time the pump runs and utilize a timer in order to keep operational costs down. Depending on the horsepower and the length of time a pool pump runs, it can add approximately $50 to $100 to your monthly power bill.
