March Sunless Tans!

If your anything like me you will be feeling pale & drab and can't wait till your summer holiday to get some colour?

Don't be tempted to expose your skin to those damaging rays of a sunbed at anytime even just before you go away, do your skin a favour and just fake it!!

"UV free" tanning is the way to do it safely!

There are lots of really good fake tans on the market, products you are likely to find on the shelf are Facial Tans, Bronzing Gels/mousses, Instant tan creams, Spray Tans, Tinted moisturisers and Tan enhancers. These usually come in 2 different base shades Golden suited to paler skins & suit blonde & red hair colour & Bronze for darker hair and complexions, this is the same rule with makeup too!

Prepping your skin before tanning is essential for a long lasting, even tan.

Shower & exfoliate no less than 24 hours (in case of skin sensitivity) prior to tanning and hopefully you will be paying attention to dry areas such as elbows and knees. Areas such as under arms are often forgotten about and tend to build up old deodorant and dead skin cells so make sure you include them when exfoliating, stay deodorant free on tan application until your tan product is absorbed or you are danger of

green colours appearing as the alcohol in pigments. deodorants react with some tanning Apply a light moisturiser, pay extra attention to hands and feet as knuckles and toes are big tan collectors and can look terrible if not an even colour develops, careful what you use though, if your mosturiser is oil based and too greasy and it will act as a barrier and wont allow the tan solution to penetrate the skin. A fake tan can last between 5 - 10 days depending on the application and after-care, ie; how often you shower, swim etc.

Applying a moisturiser daily will help the tan to last longer. Don't forget, although you will look good a fake tan will not protect your skin from sun damage so always use an SPF 15 or higher when exposed to the sun and always follow manufactures instructions!
