INROADS creates pathways to careers for diverse high school and college students across the country. We position our graduates to advance in their careers, and we help employers foster diverse and inclusive workplaces.

BUILDING EQUITY & CLOSING THE RACIAL WEALTH GAP

INROADS was founded in 1970 by Father Frank C. Carr, a business executive who was at the March on Washington and took Martin Luther King Jr.’s message as a call to action. With a mission that is still as relevant as it was since our founding, INROADS continues to ensure that our program graduates gain an equal footing in their careers and, in turn, help transform the face of corporate America.

MESSAGE FROM INROADS CEO Dear Friends, Supporters, Students, and Alumni, It gives me a tremendous sense of pride to present the INROADS Annual Impact Report, which shares highlights of our accomplishments in 2022. I know we are all proud of our collective efforts toward building equity and closing the racial wealth gap.

While we review our impact over the last year, we also look to the future. INROADS has three priorities over the next couple of years: sustainability, scalability, and increasing alumni involvement. We will drive sustainability by building a strong financial foundation and ensuring succession planning for the INROADS team and board. We will create scalability through technology, enabling us to reach more students and alumni. Finally, we will increase the engagement of alumni where they work, lead, and live, as well as encourage alumni giving. By focusing on these three pillars, we will be positioning INROADS for success for this generation and generations to come.

Thank you for taking the time to review this Annual Impact Report and celebrating our achievements with us. It is with great excitement that we embark on our next chapter, and we look forward to working together to make a lasting impact on the lives of talented young people. MESSAGE FROM INROADS NATIONAL BOARD CHAIR Dear Students, Alumni, Partners, and Supporters, Almost 40 years ago, a friend introduced me to INROADS, and that began my involvement and commitment to our organization and its mission. I participated in INROADS programs during high school and college and began working for IBM, my sponsoring company, after graduation.

My relationship with INROADS was foundational as I didn’t come from a family familiar with the corporate world. Everything that I learned about corporate America came from INROADS programs and mentors, and that knowledge enabled me to navigate the workforce successfully.

As we continue to fight for racial equity across America and increased diversity in organizations, it is critical that we continue to position INROADS to serve more students, alumni, and communities. My vision for INROADS is to continue to deliver on Father Carr’s dream of providing the support needed to increase the number of underrepresented minorities in corporate organizations by leveraging technology to increase our reach and scale.

I want to thank you for your support and contributions to the students and our organization.

While we have made great progress, there is so much more to be done. The students need you, and I encourage you to give of your resources, time, and talent to shape and build the leaders of tomorrow. STUDENTS DISCOVER NEW POSSIBILITIES The INROADS College Links Program works to bridge the gap between academic and career paths for diverse high school students. College Links scholars gain year-round access to information, resources, career exploration experiences, and invaluable connections. Through these activities, scholars increase their self-confidence, gain insight into potential careers, and acquire valuable soft skills for their future. College Links scholars expand their horizons and discover new possibilities as they move forward to college and beyond.

INROADS Financial Services Institute (FSI): An immersive training program focused on exploring career options and building financial industry competencies.

Pronghorn Spirits Academy (PSA): The PSA program, launched in 2022 with a small cohort, is designed to provide Black students who are interested in the distilled spirits industry with the tools, resources, and internship experience needed to successfully learn the industry and position full-time employment.

Government Program: INROADS partners with federal government agencies, including the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and others to create internship opportunities and foster diversity in the public sector.

The HBCU Sustainable Communities Initiative (HBCU SCI), supported by the Southern Company Foundation, is dedicated to training and preparing the next generation of sustainability professionals. Through a powerful partnership between INROADS, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and UNCF (United Negro College Fund), HBCU SCI offers scholarships, paid internships, and mentorship opportunities to future sustainability leaders.
