losers UBER Attorney General Pam Bondi, along
with the 49 other attorneys general and the District of Columbia, settled with Uber Technologies, Inc. for allegedly failing to comply with the Florida Information Protection Act and other related laws. In November 2016, Uber learned that hackers gained access to some personal information the company maintains about its drivers, including driver's license information. Uber tracked down the hackers and obtained assurances that they deleted and never distributed the information. The breach triggered Florida's law requiring Uber to notify affected Florida residents. Uber waited a year, until November 2017, before reporting the data breach. As part of the nationwide settlement, Uber agreed to pay $148 million to the states and the District of Columbia. Florida will receive $8,246,606.
EMERALD COAST UTILITY AUTHORITY Once again, the utility is raising its fees.
The ECUA board increased water and sewer rates by 4 percent beginning in October. The board will have a public hearing and final vote on Oct. 25 to raise the sanitation rates by 5 percent and add a monthly $1.50 capital improvement fee.
UNITED STATES-MEXICO-CANADA AGREEMENT Florida Agriculture Com-
missioner Adam Putnam would like the renegotiated and rebranded North American Free Trade Agreement to do more to help the state's farmers. According to Putnam, USMCA offers no new protections for Florida fruit and vegetable producers, who have suffered from Mexico's unfair trade practices for years.

NEWPOINT NIGHTMARE In April 2015, Inweekly reported allegations of grade tampering and misuse of state funds at two Newpoint charters schools in Escambia County. Last week, Newpoint Education Partners founder Marcus May was convicted of one count of organized fraud and two counts of racketeering. Missing from the news stories of May's conviction was that Escambia Superintendent of Schools Malcolm Thomas knew of problems at Newpoint a year before Inweekly broke the story and the State Attorney's Office launched its investigation. A Newpoint employee called Superintendent Thomas. She told him that teachers were being pressured to change grades. Students in the companion middle school, Newpoint Academy, were complaining of being harassed by a teacher. Funds raised by the Student Government Association had disappeared. The whistleblower saw Thomas as her last hope. When the superintendent's office received the call in May 2014, Thomas was out. His administrative assistant, Cathy Irwin, took notes and read them back to the whistleblower to be sure she had the facts correct. When she finished the call, other teachers came forward with similar stories. The whistleblower called Irwin to report the additional information. She told Inweekly that Irwin said, "OK, Mr. Thomas knows. He's aware of the situation, and we are looking into it." With graduation only a week away, the whistleblower thought that the district would place a hold on Newpoint's graduation until the grade tampering could be
investigated. District emails verified the phone calls and showed communication between Irwin and Vickie Mathis, the Director of Alternative Education. However, the school superintendent didn't intervene. The Newpoint schools finished their school years with no report to the Escambia County School Board of any problems. The Florida Department of Education gave Pensacola Newpoint High an "A" grade. While the whistleblower was reaching out to the superintendent for help, two Newpoint students sent Thomas an email. The junior and sophomore provided documentation that they believed showed a Newpoint teacher had stolen money raised by the Student Government Association over the school year. Superintendent Thomas replied that he would take care of it, but nothing happened. In March 2015, Gov. Rick Scott handed Newpoint High and Newpoint Academy checks for $11,392 and $15,861 respectively for their high performance. The award ceremony triggered the whistleblower to reach out to then-school board member Jeff Bergosh and Inweekly. Finally, the light was being shone on the problems at Newpoint. The Escambia County School Board a month later canceled the schools' charters. However, the Newpoint nightmare might have been avoided and tax dollars saved had Superintendent Thomas acted sooner. A less political, appointed superintendent might have handled the charter schools differently. {in} rick@inweekly.net

'A PRIVILEGE OF A LIFETIME' By Rick Outzen "My Exaggerated Life," an oral biography of the late Pat Conroy as told to Pensacola author Katherine Clark, offers special insights into the life of the celebrated Southern author, whose books "The Great Santini," "The Lords of Discipline" and "The Prince of Tides" were made into award-winning movies. Clark recorded 200 hours of conversations with Conroy during the spring and summer of 2014. No subject was off limits. He spoke candidly of surviving and overcoming childhood abuse, his battles with depression and alcoholism, and his lack of self-esteem and self-confidence. As depressing as those topics might seem, Conroy's sense of humor shone throughout the telling of his life, giving an uplifting quality to the narrative. Clark wove the interviews into a book that is a delight for Conroy fans and those who love Southern literature. Inweekly caught up with her recently to talk about her relationship with the author. She met Conroy in 2009 when she was freelancing for the Mobile Press-Register's book page. Conroy was touring to promote his novel "South of Broad," and Clark's editor asked her to interview the author. His publicist at Doubleday had arranged for Conroy to call her at a specific time on Friday morning. When her cell phone rang Thursday night, the voice on the other end was Conroy. She told Inweekly, "Pat was apologetic and humble, but he wanted to tell me how much he enjoyed 'Milking the Moon.'" Clark had penned two oral biographies that had received attention—"Motherwit: An Alabama Midwife's Story" with Onnie Lee Logan and "Milking the Moon: A Southerner's Story of Life on This Planet" with Mobile writer Eugene Walter. The latter was a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist.
"Pat had met Eugene in Italy, and they were good friends," said Clark. "He just wanted to talk about the book." When the phone conversation ended, Clark realized that she hadn't asked any questions for her upcoming article. She worried about what she would tell her editor about blowing the interview, but the next morning, Conroy called again at the designated time for the article. The pair became "phone friends." Conroy's list of phone friends included the late Doug Marlette, the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist and uncle of the News Journal's Andy Marlette. Marlette and Conroy talked daily. When the cartoonist was killed in a car wreck in Mississippi, Conroy eulogized him at the funeral. "First, Pat would call about once or twice a month, but then the calls were nearly every day," said Clark. "I learned that the phone calls were his social life. He had a list of friends that called at the end of every day. I got added to the list."
"I learned that the phone calls were his social life. He had a list of friends that called at the end of every day. I got added to the list." Katherine Clark Conroy's University of South Carolina Press imprint, Story River Books, published Clark's Mountain Brook Series, which included "The Headmaster's Darlings;" "All the Governor's Men," a political comedy based George Wallace's last run for governor of Alabama in 1982; its sequel, "The Harvard Bride;" and "The Ex-Suicide," a satirical comedy of manners about a prominent Alabama family living across the street from the Birmingham Country Club. Conroy was her editor, making suggestions on how to improve each book.
At one point during their daily phone conversations, Conroy joked that Clark would have a great book if she had recorded their calls. She agreed but thought little about it until Conroy had a health scare and was hospitalized for two weeks. "Pat was confronting his mortality and the fact that he hadn't written everything he wanted to write about his life," she said. "There were things that he had been withholding because all of his work was autobiographical—whether it was non-fiction or fiction." Clark hesitated because she wasn't interested in doing an oral autobiography with him initially. She explained, "I thought what is left for him to talk about, because hadn't he already mined all of the material from his past?" Conroy indicated there were parts of his life that he hadn't revealed. "There were secrets that he had been guarding," said Clark, "things that he had been withholding that he always intended later in his life to write about, but Pat was afraid he wasn't going to be able to get around to it." The author was also concerned about his legacy and how future generations would perceive him. Clark said, "One thing he said was, 'I don't know what's going to be written about me when I'm gone,' so he was contemplating the day when he wasn't going to be here and others were going to write about those things that Pat had not written about, so he wanted to get this out. He wanted to share these things with someone he trusted." Clark agreed and initially believed she would have to do the interviews with Conroy in person. Her oral biography with Eugene Walter, the playwright known as "Mobile's Renaissance Man," had been done that way. "Eugene Walter was a performer," she said. "He had been in Fellini films and needed a live audience. He wanted somebody in the room with him who was witnessing his performance and taking it in."
However, Clark soon realized that Conroy wasn't comfortable with face-to-face interviews. "Pat was a raconteur, like Eugene, and I just assumed I needed to be in the room," she explained. Conroy's wife, Sandra, also a novelist, was doing a book tour in south Alabama, and Clark set up Pat staying in Pensacola in her neighbor's guest house for a week. "We planned to spend the whole week recording," she said. "I would take him to lunch. We went to the yacht club and the country club and a few places around town. I took my recorder, but I began to realize Pat was more guarded with me in person than he was on the phone." She continued, "He was a little shy about just opening up and spilling his guts, and I realized that our relationship had evolved over the telephone. Pat was used to just telling me anything and everything over the phone. With me not in the room with him, he didn't have to deal with my facial expressions and could just talk." Conroy and Clark had a rapport on the phone that had been established over four years. They agreed to try to do the book over the phone. She said, "So that's what we did. He got back to Buford, and we just started talking every morning." She said, "We recorded for five months, every day, sometimes even Saturdays, for about an hour, an hour and a half. She had tried to start the interviews in chronological order. Clark had a list of questions, but she let Conroy go in whatever direction he wanted. "No great raconteur is chronological," said Clark. "They go off on all sorts of tangents and detour, and you want them to do it. If he went off subject, it didn't matter. I was getting everything and would be able to put it where I wanted it anyway in the book." The result is a unique autobiography that will surely win several literary awards. Clark shared, "It was a privilege of a lifetime." {in}

SANDSHAKER SHOCK Last month, U.S.
Magistrate Charles Kahn, Jr. issued a report and recommendation that the Sandshaker Lounge on Pensacola Beach pay $100,005 to the Shaka Bar for legal expenses if the iconic bar wants to continue its trademark infringement case against the little bar that opened near the Bob Sikes Bridge in 2013. Robert Beasley, the Sandshaker's attorney, has since filed an objection to Judge Kahn's recommendation. Both parties are waiting for Federal Judge Casey Rodgers to rule on the legal expenses. The attorney sat down with Inweekly to explain his client's position. Beasley said the reason the magistrate reviewed the legal expenses was because of Rule 41, which is evoked when a case is voluntarily dismissed at the state level and refiled in federal court. Under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Rule 41 states, "If a plaintiff who previously dismissed an action in any court files an action based on or including the same claim against the same defendant, the court: (1) may order the plaintiff to pay all or part of the costs of that previous action; and (2) may stay the proceedings until the plaintiff has complied. Judge Rodgers stayed the trademark infringement case and ordered the magistrate report on the previous legal expenditures by the Shaka Bar. "Rule 41 is meant to be a deterrent of someone jumping forums, kind of enjoying their day in court at the state level and then dropping it when it looks like things are going against them and jumping to federal," Beasley shared, "and thus causing a party to have to redo everything or undoing successes at the lower level." According to Beasley, Rule 41 has three criteria for analyzing the legal costs—(1) Did the other side win anything in state court that would be undone; (2) Is there any positioning that was achieved in state
court that was undone; and (3) Is there any recyclability of the legal already done? "Our position is there were no successes at the lower level so that criteria doesn't apply," said Beasley. "And there wasn't anything they accomplished that was undone." As far as recyclability, meaning whether the legal research and discovery done at state level could be used in the federal case, he said, "Our position is the legal work was all recyclable because the real reason we moved courts was because, at the state court level, the opposing lawyer continued to remind the court, 'We don't have a federal trademark action here. What they have is a state delusion claim.' And so it kept working against us that we had not brought a federal trademark infringement action." Beasley continued, "At some point, we said we're going to bring in a federal trademark infringement action, so we moved the whole thing to federal court." He said his client is prepared to pay the legal fees if Judge Rodgers rules against the Sandshaker so that it can defend its trademark. The Sandshaker has little choice, according to the attorney. "If you do not remain diligent in protecting your mark, then it doesn't matter if it's registered or not. It could be deemed abandoned," said Beasley. "The Sandshaker did not want to file this lawsuit. It got to the point where they could not resolve things without filing it and had to do so to protect their trademark."
NEWPOINT FOUNDER GUILTY Marcus May, the founder of Newpoint Education Partners that operated charter schools in Escambia County and six other Florida counties, last Thursday was found guilty of steering millions of education dollars and other school funds to his personal accounts. In the spring of 2015, Inweekly broke the story of alleged grade tampering and misuse of school funds at Newpoint's middle and
high schools located on Highway 29. Assistant State Attorney Russ Edgar took the case and was able to show a pattern of kickbacks and fraudulent billing. The Escambia County jury found May guilty of one count of organized fraud and two counts of racketeering. He faces up to 90 years in prison.
ABUSE HOTLINE Florida Attorney General
Pam Bondi has launched a tip site for people to report allegations of past child sex abuse by Catholic priests in Florida. The tip site is part of Attorney General Bondi's ongoing investigation into all seven Catholic dioceses in the state. "Any priest that would exploit a position of power and trust to abuse a child is a disgrace to the church and a threat to society," said Attorney General Bondi. "I am calling on victims and anyone with information about potential abuse to please report it to my office. Victim information will be kept confidential in accordance with state law." Tips of past abuse can be reported by visiting myfloridalegal.com/stopabuse. All victim information will be kept confidential in accordance with Florida law. The site is for reporting allegations of past abuse by Catholic priests in Florida. Anyone reporting ongoing abuse should call 911 or the Florida Department of Children and Families Abuse Hotline at (800) 96-ABUSE. Attorney General Bondi instructed her Office of Statewide Prosecution to launch the investigation following the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report detailing decades of child sex abuse by Catholic priests in Pennsylvania. The grand jury identified 301 Catholic priests who abused children, detailed accounts of more than 1,000 child victims in Pennsylvania, and claimed senior church officials, bishops and monsignors helped cover up priest abuse.
BALLOTS IN THE MAIL The Escambia
County Supervisor of Elections Office last

Voted ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 6, and require a 50-cent first-class postage stamp if returned by mail. The U.S. Postal Service recommends voters mail ballots at least one week before the due date. Ballots may also be returned by hand to the Supervisor of Elections Office. 501 Brent Lane, forthevictims.com How do you define being the "best"? Win or lose, if you've fought as hard for your client as you would've for your father if he were applying for disability or your mother if she was hurt at work, then you can sleep well at night. I'm grateful my clients think that makes me worth voting for. How would you describe your business to a total stranger in 10 words or less? The law firm insurance companies hope you do not hire. What do you think sets you and your business apart? Compassion for our clients' situations. We understand that if you have to hire us, you are going through one of the most stressful, financially difficult experiences of your life. We do everything we can to help you through that period. Other than your business, what are some of your local favorites? My family is associated with some great local businesses: The Magnolia, Wild Lemon, Omega Construction and Mēgan K Events. I also love George (and its new location), Palafox Market, Four Winds and that steak at IRON. Can I mention that steak at IRON twice? It's that good. Answers by: Antonio Bruni, Attorney

OCTOBER 11-17
Arts & Entertainment art, film, music, stage, books and other signs of civilization...
A Grand Opening By Stephanie Sharp
This weekend, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra is returning with a bang, opening with a show stacked with high-energy performances, a visiting virtuoso and three selections of music that will leave the audience thrilled for the rest of the 2018-2019 season. As the orchestra comes back together after months apart, opening night promises to be a must-see performance full of key moments demonstrating all the hard work that went into preparing for a new season. Peter Rubardt begins his 22nd season as music director for the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, and his excitement for opening night is contagious. "I always really like opening night to have a lot of zing to it," said Rubardt. "Some concerts have a different kind of depth or a different flavor. The flavor I go for on opening night, I go for high octane."
"The flavor I go for on opening night, I go for high octane." Peter Rubardt For this season's opening night, he's chosen Gershwin's "Cuban Overture," Barber's "Concerto for Violin, Op. 14" (which will feature guest violinist Jennifer Koh) and Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." "I have big ambition every year for opening night. I tend to rehearse really hard and don't let anything slip," said Rubardt. "The musicians look forward to that kind of workout." Gershwin's "Cuban Overture" is a fun, light-hearted piece that will transport the audience to a sunny and nostalgic Cuban vacation getaway. Inspired by a two-week vacation in
Cuba in the early 1930s, Gershwin pulled many elements of Caribbean and Cuban music into this playful arrangement. "It's a very upbeat tempo," said Rubardt, "a bright, festive way to open the evening." The piece is accessible in the best possible way. Whether it's your first time at the Saenger for a Pensacola Symphony Orchestra performance or you're a long-time patron, Gershwin's "Cuban Overture" will ignite your imagination and prime your senses for the expansive possibilities of enjoying this type of art.
VISIT FROM A STAR
Returning for her third performance with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, renowned violinist and Musical America's 2016 "Instrumentalist of the Year" Jennifer Koh will perform Samuel Barber's "Concerto for Violin, Op. 14." Celebrated for her technical mastery of her instrument and for her creativelycharged virtuosity, Koh brings an elevated sense of excitement to the second piece of the opening night program. "Being on stage with Jenny is really easy, in the best sense," explained Rubardt. "It goes without saying, she's obviously phenomenally talented." Rubardt shared that the unique experience of seeing Koh perform a piece like Barber's "Concerto for Violin" is her talent for communicating with the other musicians and with the audience. "She plays all of it with a natural spontaneous communication and sharing. That makes it really a pleasure to be on stage with her. There's so much musicality flowing out of her. It's like an invitation. It's like she sends out an
invitation to all of us. She invites the audience to come into the performance with her." For Koh, she looks forward to sharing her talent with the orchestra and the Pensacola community for this unique and exciting performance. In particular, Barber's "Concerto for Violin" presents a dizzying display of craft and talent for an accomplished performer like Koh. "It's incredibly lyrical," explained Koh. "He's a great composer for the violin and bringing something forward that's a very American musical language." This piece differs from the fun, fanciful Gershwin in the tenderness of the musical journey and the continued dazzlement inherent in the drama and tension throughout the piece. The orchestra supports Koh's virtuosity throughout moments that will leave the audience breathless. "I love working with Peter, and I'm looking forward to doing that again," said Koh. "One of the exciting things is we've really covered the gamut of violin repertoire." With this Barber concerto, Koh and Rubardt have a thrilling performance in store to highlight their partnership and artistic collaboration. "The third movement is just fireworks from beginning to end," said Rubardt. "It's really down [Koh's] alley; it's the perfect piece for her."
INESCAPABLE EXPERIENCES
The orchestra will close out the experience of opening night with Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." This piece, originally written as a memorial for the composer's friend, takes
the listener through 10 movements as a journey through an art exhibit. "That piece is one of the great warhorses that we get to play," said Rubardt. "It's so brilliant, and it brings out the best of each musician on the stage." For those unfamiliar with Mussorgsky, he's the same composer of "Night on Bald Mountain." With "Pictures at an Exhibition," audiences can expect an intensity and momentum to continually challenge them throughout the piece. Just like walking through an art gallery, Mussorgsky's piece turns musical corners and packs a provocative punch. "This piece has 10 vignettes, and every one of them hits you in the face. They've set the stage for this kind of instant reaction," explained Rubardt. "It moves very quickly compared to a large scale, purely symphonic work." Together, the opening night program offers a rousing opportunity to immerse yourself in the experience of live music and shake off the doldrums of music's ubiquity in the company of other art lovers. "That's one of the great things about playing here is the audience. The crowds are large, warm and there's an energy that's buzzing," said Rubardt. "Everybody's there to have a great time; it's really that simple." {in}

Healing and "Heartache"
Amick Cutler / Courtesy Photo Amick Cutler knows what's on the other side of a risk. It's the reason he takes them every chance he gets. The next few risks in Cutler's line of fire? Releasing an EP of alternative rock music and traveling cross-country in a camper with his wife Christy and their three sons (AKA "bear cubs"). The two risks aren't separate. Cutler believes going on tour to share his music and stories will combat the "sucky part" about music today. "Most people, you have 10 seconds to decide whether music is good or bad," Cutler said. "They listen to it and automatically judge the music based off the sound or based off if the first word hooks you. That's very unfortunate because people don't get the opportunity to know the person." Cutler can't rally behind that mentality. "I don't feel like I was ever a person designed to separate the music from the person," Cutler said. "I am a person who
expresses who I am through music, and who I am is a way deeper well than who I am musically. For me to go out there and travel and do both, share my story, who I am as a person, with my songs is going to have a lot better impact than if people are just thumbing through Spotify if it catches their attention or doesn't." Cutler has used music as an outlet since he was a teenager, when his sister Kailyn died of leukemia. "That moment kind of changed the course of my life," Cutler said. "I remember picking up the guitar and spending hours in my room, coping with my thoughts." Somewhere amid writing a ton of songs, Cutler's personality shifted. "Where I once was very shy, music just totally changed me," Cutler said. "I totally turned into more of an outgoing person." The tragedy also gave him a new perspective on life. "Seeing your 10-year-old sister—all she
like reckless abandoned; maybe it's got bumps should care about is surviving—but she, even and bruises; and maybe it doesn't look pretty, in the middle of cancer, lived life to the fullest but maybe that's what honest love really is." and always had a smile," Cutler said. DIFFERENCE MAKERS PSC STUDENT SELECTED A FLORIDA COLLEGE SYSTEM SCHOLAR STUDENT OF THE MONTH This year—2018—has been a banner year for Pensacola State College student Jennifer Ojeda. Along with being recognized for academic achievement and traveling internationally, she was selected the Florida College System Chancellor's Clark Maxwell Scholar of the Month for September. The award recognizes outstanding FCS students who demonstrate leadership skills, academic success and/or commitment to community service. Students are recognized monthly by the Florida College System Chancellor with a $150 scholarship, certificate and highlighted in the newsletter. Twenty-three years after graduating high school, Ojeda returned to further her postsecondary education at Pensacola State. A senior pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Management degree, with a concentration in Human Resources Management, Ojeda said her passion for helping and serving others led her to seek a career in human resources. In 2017, Ojeda earned an associate degree in business administration at Pensacola State—graduating magna cum laude. She matriculated into the College's Bachelor of Applied Science in business and management, where she has maintained a 4.0 grade point average. news of the weird BOLD MOVES Three cheeky raccoons jolted a Toronto, Ontario, Canada, woman awake late on Sept. 18 when they broke into her kitchen. Jenny Serwylo heard noises coming from her kitchen and approached the critters with a broom, which scared away two out of the three. But a third wouldn't budge, barricaded behind her toaster oven and munching on a package of English muffins. "He was like, 'I'm eating, get out of here,'" Serwylo told the Toronto Star. She tried calling authorities but couldn't get any help, and her contest of wills with the raccoon lasted for more than a half-hour. "I was growling at him and hissing at him," she said. As she pointed the broom handle at the animal, it would grab the end and "yank it really hard." Finally, having consumed all the bread in the kitchen, the raccoon calmly went out the window, which Serwylo locked behind it. Toronto Animal Services spokesperson Bruce Hawkins told the Star that such encounters are unusual, but you be the judge: The city has created a guide for residents about how to deal with raccoon intrusions. THE PASSING PARADE Gender reveal events, in which expectant parents creatively announce the sex of their unborn children, are taking on increasingly more ridiculous and, in some cases, dangerous proportions. To wit: Border Patrol Agent Dennis Dickey, 37, pleaded guilty on Sept. 28 to accidentally starting the April 2017 Sawmill Fire, which burned 47,000 acres in and around Madera Canyon in Arizona, prompting evacuations and closing highways, according to the Arizona Daily Star. It all started when Dickey and his pregnant wife hosted a gender reveal party at which he shot a target containing Tannerite, an explosive substance, and colored powder signifying the child's gender. When the target exploded, it caught nearby brush on fire, and Dickey immediately reported the wildfire and admitted he had started it. Dickey will pay $220,000 in restitution, and he is expected to keep his job. OOPS Things got tense for passengers on a GoAir flight from New Delhi to Patna, India, on Sept. 22 when a first-time flyer mistook an

emergency exit door for the restroom. Travel + Leisure magazine reported that fellow passengers asked the man, in his 20s, what he was doing, to which he replied that he "needed to use the washroom urgently" and returned to tugging at the door. Airport official Mohammad Sanowar Khan explained: "Pandemonium prevailed... and he was restrained... He said that the confusion happened because he had boarded a flight for the first time in his life." The unnamed traveler was questioned at the Patna airport. NATURE CALLS Neither rain, nor sleet ... nor need of a bathroom break could stop a postal carrier from delivering the mail—and so much more—to a Memphis, Tennessee, resident. FOX13 reported Sept. 28 that a homeowner's surveillance camera captured the postman looking around as he walked up the home's front porch and urinating as he approached the mailbox. He then placed mail inside the box and continued on his rounds, leaving a trail of urine on the porch and steps. The homeowner told FOX13 he still hasn't touched his mailbox because he is worried what could be on it. A spokesperson for the USPS said they are investigating the incident. INEXPLICABLE An employee at the Manassas, Virginia, Giant supermarket had a memorable day at work on Sept. 15 when he spotted Michael Dwayne Johnson, 27, in the produce aisle. As the employee watched, Metro News reported, Johnson pulled down his pants, picked up a piece of produce and rubbed it on his buttocks. Then he replaced the produce on the display and pulled his pants back up. Manassas Police charged Johnson with indecent exposure and destruction of property after the store was forced to destroy several pallets of fruit. Police did not release a motive. {in}
