Life after being on the board
What happens to old board members? Well most of them go on to their internship or graduation. Right now we are going to take a look at Bas Dieben, Chairman of the 22nd and 23rd board of SV. Innovum. Bas is doing his internship right now at a sponsor of ours. Vanderlande is a global market leader for logistics process automation for airports and automation solutions at warehouses and in the parcel market.

How and why did you get your internship at Vanderlande?

Of course I had already heard about Vanderlande but my first actual contact was via a company visit. While there we got a lecture from an old Innovum member and I thought the company was really interesting so I applied for an internship. At the time they did not have a normal internship only internships designed for graduating. But the company hooked me up with a normal internship at the R&D department.
What is the Project you are working on?
The project I’m working on involves researching and developing upgrades to an existing technology for sorting parcels. The technology has been used by Vanderlande but with the projected upgrades it will work more reliably and faster than it did Most of the work I do is customizing the software to find the optimal configurations. We have an area comparable to a small football field to test and develop what we are working on.
What is it like to work at Vanderlande?
Vanderlande is a very big company but the team I am working with is very nice. Everyone here is very helpful and enthusiastic about what we are working on. (He used to be so cute… what Happened?)
