AFTERWORD FOR PARENTS The need for civility, manners, and kindness has never been more apparent across all levels of our society–from individuals and families, to schools, political parties, and even our governments. But just like a small rudder can change the direction of a huge ship, the simple yet profound lessons in A MINUTE WITH Molly TM–along with your efforts to teach them–can chart a new course of civility, manners, and kindness for our children and for generations to come. Kind words and deeds are powerful. And as we collectively offer them to others in greater measure, we will all experience an evergrowing attitude of gratitude across our land. Thank you for partnering with us at Living A Manners Mindset TM to help change the world for good–one child and one family at a time. In service to our children, I am, sincerely yours,

Judy Bollweg

THE STORY BEHIND A MINUTE WITH

Molly

The Inspiration for A Minute with Molly TM

About Our Molly…

Molly and I started each morning with the children by introducing a quick manners lesson. Now it’s easy to imagine the kids losing focus and getting bored . . . but they didn’t, not at all.

But you may not know that Molly is also a certified therapy dog who shares her kind ways with patients and children in hospitals and schools with living examples of compassion.

In fact, before long I found that just asking, “What would Molly do?” brought out a mannerly mindset.

Children everywhere are simply drawn to her, and they quickly embrace our etiquette lessons through her.

And that’s when the inspiration came to me: What if every child could have a Molly in their lives? The result is the book you are now reading: A Minute with Molly .

Connecting with Others…

first inspiration for the lessons in this book came when I was visiting TextThe Box with my wonderful niece and her two young children.

You may already know that Molly is a cute-as-a-button malshipoo with big eyes that just win your heart every time.

By introducing A Minute with Molly lessons, we engage our children’s imaginations and communicate in a way that inspires them to think beyond themselves and connect with others. It is my earnest hope that using these lessons will help families, teachers, and caregivers develop a dialogue of civility in their homes, classrooms, and other venues such as after-school programs. After all, manners will matter regardless of where the children are! I truly hope that you have as much fun and success using these lessons as Molly and I have had in our lifelong journey toward a manners mindset.

A CKNOWLEGMENTS My first thanks goes to the children I have worked with over the years who continue to inspire me to find tools to help them draw on their own intuitive nature to be kind, thoughtful, and well-mannered. A special thanks to my niece Abby, whose cooperation and inspiration helped to conceive this idea. There are a few people without whom I couldn't have completed this project. To my friend Jim Fitzgerald who believed in this social project from the beginning: my deepest thanks. To Nancy Jones & Associates for the creation of the character version of Molly: my sincere gratitude. They brought our little Molly to life in a way that connects Molly and her message of Living a Manners Mindset in a fun and interactive experience.
