2. Say "I'm Sorry" Honestly Text Box
You didn't mean to break your sister's favorite necklace. You didn't mean to worry your mom by not coming home on time. You still need to say, "I'm sorry." Say it honestly. Explain what happened. Even an angry person will understand if you honestly say, "I'm sorry."

Parents/Educators, Lead by example. Apologize when appropriate, and especially to your child— something that parents often do not do. Share with your child a time when you had to apologize to someone and why it was important.

When speaking to an adult, be sure to use their title and last name to show respect. There are many titles, such as Mr., Miss, Mrs., Aunt, Uncle, Doctor. 10

Be a good example and introduce yourself and others using proper etiquette. Play pretend with your child, and teach him or her the rules of introducing oneself to people upon first meeting. For example, "Hello, I'm Miss Molly. What is your name?"

52. T hink about Others Don't stay in a bubble— think about others when you enter a room. If you see someone who seems sad or upset, ask her if you can help. If she asks for space though, leave her be!
