Immersing yourself in local culture and all it has to offer is rewarding as well as exciting, however food is one of the most visceral ways to do this and appreciate the surrounds. So, if your stomach rules the roost, get on your bibs for Noosa Eat & Drink, a once-a-year chance to feast, sip and party your way through a full-throated festival of the local food and drink scene - and it’s forks at the ready.

The jam-packed program from 30 May to 2 June 2024 promises an unforgettable weekend. Discover a delicious serving of next-level, food and drink featuring culinary heroes, special dining experiences, flavour-packed produce, impeccable techniques and everything in-between.

Whether you are looking for beachfront or long lunches, dinners with celebrated chefs and restaurateurs, mixologist masterclasses and live cooking demonstrations with serious foodiesor a beach party under the night sky, there’s something for everyone.

A multi-talented, star-studded lineup will flow endlessly from sand to stage to masterclasses. Included are Khanh Ong, Anna Polyviou, Matt Golinski, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cameron Matthews, Luca Ciano, George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan, Adriano Zumbo, Jason Saxby from Raes at Wategos, Ben Cross from Mason Bali doing a collab with Agnes’ Ben Williamson, George Calombaris and Sarah Todd, Sixpenny’s Anthony Schifilliti, Aalia’s Paul Farag, Rose Adam, Guy Grossi, Nick Holloway, Hamish Quinn, Richard Ousby, Sergio Perera, Warren Mendes, George Georgovski, Jason Jones, Carolyne Helmy also Olympians Michael Klim and restaurateur Eamon Sullivan in Chef vs Olympians competition mode.

Many will also be co-hosts and behind the burners in collaboration with

restaurants such as Locale, Humble on Duke, Sofitel Noosa Beach House, Sum Yung Guys, onboard Catalina, and more.

Super action central for food, drink and entertainment, the Festival Village will host over 80 local, Australian producers and international brands, exciting demonstrations and masterclasses including Seabourne Gin, desserts, Sunshine & Sons cocktails, and seafood.

In Noosa for a flying visit, want to spread your wings and rub shoulders on tours with tastes, chats, eats and more?

Village tickets include a glass of Prosecco on arrival, a chance to explore pop-ups from top locals restaurants and specially selected food trucks. Sip on refreshing tipples from the finest craft brewers and distillers, alongside a selection of national and international winemakers.

Taste and stock up on artisan delights and associated products from across the region, savoury and sweet, at the Producers Pavilion. From Sticky Balsamic, Salumi Australia, Spice Origins, Max and Tom Cheeses, The Village Pickle, Amrita Park Meadery, Woombye Cheese, Noosa Black Garlic, The Tea Shop, Hum Honey, The Herd Biltong, Beyond Honey, the Gourmet Fudge Company - and so much more. You could be there all day however you cannot miss dancin’ and singin’ along with DJs and live entertainment such as Bermuda Social, a 6-piece cover band and duo/DJ The Potbelleez.

The Chandon VIP Lounge ups the ante for fine food and wine aficionados, with ticketholders enjoying front-row seats to celebrity chef cooking demos, a Chandon cocktail on arrival, catering by Lanai Noosa restaurant and in readiness to almost eye-ball the entertainment.

Head to the BEERmuda Triangle albeit three breweries or let the fun beGIN in two distilleries including lunch at the latter, the Pomona Distilling Co. It is also hosting Sunshine Coast’s inaugural Grain vs Grape event, a four-course dinner, a glass of wine and spirits paired with each course, also entertainment.

Ask any visitor to Noosa what it is they love about the town, and they might mention secluded, pristine beaches in the National Park, or afternoon walks beside a sparkling blue river, but almost everyone you talk to would agree that a priority of their holiday activities is to eat their way through the seemingly endless dining options available, carefully planning their days around their restaurant reservations for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Noosa is well known as a foodie’s paradise, but it’s also a chef’s paradise.

Cooking for an audience that appreciates good food, that takes an interest in the provenance of the ingredients on their plate, and is prepared to pay for a dining experience that gives them a true sense of place is any chef’s dream. And they get to do it in an actual paradise.

So, it’s not surprising that when the call goes out for chefs and food professionals from around Australia to come and collaborate with local restaurants to create bespoke ‘one night only’ menus, or to participate in cooking demonstrations or panel discussions at a food festival, there aren’t too many that decline the offer. Noosa Eat & Drink Festival is a meeting of some of the best culinary minds in the country; an opportunity to share ideas and learn from each other, to consolidate old friendships, and create new ones that last a lifetime.

It’s also a chance to shine a light on the real stars of the region, our producers.

Visiting chefs have access to an incredible diversity of some of the best and freshest ingredients in Australia, from strawberries and Spanner Crab, to macadamias and goat’s cheese. Unique, memorable dishes are created over the weekend based on what seasonal produce is delivered straight from our local

farms to the kitchen door. Strong bonds develop between the cooks and the farmers, based on a mutual respect of each other’s passion for their trade. Chefs get a better understanding of what is involved in the growing process, and producers attending events get a rare glimpse of people enjoying the end product of all their tireless work.

As the name suggests, Noosa Eat & Drink is not all about eating, and with so many breweries and distilleries popping up in the area in recent years, the shift in focus from it being a wine festival makes perfect sense and brings a welcome local element to the beverage options to match the philosophy of the food.

Over the past 21 years, I have watched the festival evolve into an event that is inclusive of all ages, demographics and budgets, that recognises that everyone’s idea of ‘gourmet’ is quite different, and that is fiercely proud and

supportive of all the individuals in all facets of the industry who come together to make it one of the most beloved weekends on the Australian gastronomic calendar.
