At Farringtons School, ICT and Computing are integral components of the curriculum, spanning up to Year 9. The evolving computing curriculum introduces pupils to a wide range of topics, including programming languages such as Python and HTML, software applications, computer systems and components, and cyber security. This ensures pupils develop strong technical skills and a solid understanding of digital technology.
Pupils have the opportunity to master a broad range of software and tools, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Scratch, Turtle Logo, and the Python programming language. Alongside this, they explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a key topic, including its use as a tool for learning, its impact on jobs and industry, and its future development. Pupils also consider the ethical implications of AI and learn how to use intelligent systems responsibly in creative and practical contexts. In addition, pupils develop key business skills, including the use of spreadsheets and an understanding of company branding. They also undertake media projects, including graphics work, as well as the creation of animation and video editing projects.
